Ramla Bay Resort - Marfa, Mellieha

Very good location with great seaview . Just being refurbished and not quite finished.Our bed room was exactly as the photo but the hall was different with smart and Modern decoration with woodentec furnitures. Good food an great diner "al fresco" with seaside, Comino and Gozo view .On our arrival the staff welcoming us was not very good the personnel was not very pleasant. From the breakfast sometimes the person in charge requested our card without very saying to us hello. Some were smiling and helpful but our impression does not remain very good on the level of the welcoming. It was the same for the check out no smile at the reception desk neither some words about our stay. It seems their main interest was payment ! Some trouble with music from the hotel on the other side of the bay but not very often. In spite of this our stay was pleasant

When we arrived, the Ramla Bay hotel was in the process or being refurbished, and we were not advised of this when we booked. The front entrance was being grouted! There was a man rendering a small island in the centre of the outdoor pool, he got across there in a blow up boat. There were generators running and workmen finishsome of the rooms, the indoor pool did not exist yet neither did the gym. Concrete was still being layed for some paths. The grounds were still being planted. Very importantly the lift did not work and the elderly customers had to climb the stairs, some of them were even put on the second floor! Given that the lifts were not working you would expect porters to hand to help guests with their luggage, I carried our own (which was not a problem for me) but I heard a group told they would have to wait for 10 minutes for the porter to be available. My partner and I were travelling independently of a tour operator, and the hotel had absolutely no turist information or brochures available. Luckily we had a hire car and were able to escape the dust and construction work. We were paying for bed and breakfast and were disappointed at the lack of choice available. There was normally only two types of fruit (apple and watermelon) to pick from. The cooked breakfast was OK for a buffet. The TV in our room did not work and we asked the staff three times to get it fixed. There was no apologies for the shortcoming. The main positive point we noticed was that the cleaning staff did an exceptional job in our room. Although of course the coridoor contained a lot of dust that was from construction work. Overall this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

We were disappointed by the overall organization of the structure, optimized to extract money from guests in every possible way. For example, the price quoted on the website (in euro) was charged in LM using an otreageous exchange rate, one has to buy a drink pack to have the minibar key, you ask (and pay) for a private taxi to the airport and you may travel on a minibus picking up people all over the island.
