Islander Resort, a Guy Harvey Outpost - Islamorada

3 star Resort Islamorada

82100 Overseas Highway - Islamorada

Price starting from $ 161.38
Head on down the coast and leave your worries behind at the Islander Resort, a Guy Harvey Outpost, Florida Keys, where the good life awaits you. Bask in the balmy sun, shade under a coconut palm or take to the ocean on a typical fishing boat - this is Florida at its laid-back best. Islamorada is Spanish for purple isles, because of the lavender hue from sea snail shells which are said to colour the coastline, and the area is rich with the beauty of the marine kingdom. The underwater coral gardens of Upper and Lower Matecumbe Keys are dazzlingly beautiful for divers, but if you are an explorer with a thirst for Caribbean adventure, then the wreckage of the Dutch-built ship San Pedro might be more to your taste.

Set in tropically landscaped gardens with an unspoilt oceanfront position, this attractive island hotel is much more than just a paradise vacation spot. With the Blue Water Tiki courtyard, lush garden vegetation and white coral sands right outside your door, there really is no better choice for a wedding or honeymoon venue. Friendly staff and an experienced on-site wedding co-ordinator are on hand to help with your requests, and the finest island cuisine will turn any banquet into a perfect occasion. Guests will enjoy the 2 swimming pools, one salt-water and one oasis style, where cocktail refreshments are available at the poolside Bluewater Tiki Bar.

Should you find yourself lucky enough to be doing business in one of the most tranquil places in the Florida Keys, then you'll be further impressed by the recently built conference centre, which offers more than 2000 square feet (185 square meters) and hi-tech audio-visual support. The Islander Resort, a Guy Harvey Outpost oozes vintage charm with its 1950s beamed ceilings and fans, and the atmosphere is one of easy-living. If you have the energy for a burst in the fitness room, feel free, or head for the volleyball, shuffleboard and basketball areas to satisfy your competitive streak. Families can sizzle up a feast at the barbecue and picnic spots, whilst those looking for some local creativity can take a relaxing stroll around the on-site art gallery, which exhibits stunning pieces in a radiant setting. Bicycle rentals, kayaking, and swimming are also available on site; scuba diving, snorkeling, and a marina are available nearby. Pets welcome (surcharge, restrictions apply).

Cons: -The bed had insect wings on it. -The website says you can take your breakfast to your room, yet when you're there, they discourage it. Pros: - not too packed with people - nice pools - very relaxing, lounging around on a hammock or on a beach chair by the ocean Would visit again for less than I paid this time.

The hotel had no record of our reservation, we were given an "emergency room". The hotel is old and has jalous widows which didn't close properly and let in lots of noise from loud guests and outside vehicular traffic. There is no beach, only a pier. Not a real good experience during our stay.

We really liked this hotel a lot. Great value. Nice pools and bar/dinner area right by the pools. Convenient to have the continental breakfast. Private pier you can fish from and watersport rental place right there. Good place with or without the kids. Much cleaner and classier than most of the hotels at the same price
