As an indivudual guest You should avoid this hotel , which offers all for big groups ( as e.g.Trafalgar) and nothing for the individual guest.Than , it looks strange , that we booked de luxe and got something else , but not deluxe, also not after an objection.Worst of all the refused service for breakfast and the lack of appropriate place for dinner (blocked by the travel groups.

A spacious modern hotel with large air conditioned rooms and generous bathrooms. No view as such from our room but conveniently located to nearby pier for sailings to Como. Limited dinner menu available and drinks quite pricey but service faultless. Great underground garage facility, secire but at a supplementary charge.

Plus: Rooms are excellent (clean, large, quiet, well decorated)(room #205). Breakfast is included and is excellent. Staff is friendly. 5min walk to beautiful Cernobbio. Minus: Internet is charged an outrageous 5 euros for 30min! No iron in rooms. Hotel building from outside is dull. The gardens are nice. Net: we first stayed 2 nights here, went to Rome and decided to go back to Como at this same hotel for 3 nights. Overall very happy.

Good location close to ferry with nice gardens. Gave good feeling on arrival. We thought about extending our stay but that was not practical.

We are in our early thirties and we visited the Como region for pleasure and fun. This hotel was an excellent choice, the room had a nice mountain-scape panorama, although not much of the lake could actually be seen from the balcony. The hotel was a very fine one, true four-star quality. The dinners would have been extremely expensive at the hotel (EUR 50 - 60 for two persons), so we bought our food at food shops and ate that on our bed in the evenings. The lake is beautiful, the plethora of flowers makes you feel as if you were at the tropics. All the restaurants, however, are terrible quality. They do not give you enough food and charge between EUR 40 and 60 for a dinner for two. Avoid all restaurants except pizzerias that are for the locals. Those are cheaper and give you decent quantities for your money. Especially avoid the water-front restaurants. They will rip you off without mercy. This applues to all waterside villages, such as Menaggio, Bellagio, Chernobbio and TRemezzo. Make sure you visit the gardens of villas that are open to the public. I took about 1600 photographs in a matter of 14 days, and I took the best pictures of my life, and will be happy to share them with anybody interested. My e-mail address is transint@t-online.hu . The hotel staff were courteous but their English could have been somewhat more advanced. Sometimes service was a lille slow but overall, the hotel staff were hospitable and kind, as opposed to waiters at the water-front restaurants. If you visit the lake, do not leave the lakeside unless nmecessary because it is much more picturesque than the inland areas. However, it is worth mounting some of the hills for a better view of the lake and the villages. Do not use the furnicular, it does not take you to a nice and panoramic place, and is pretty expensive, too. There are only a coulple of small public beaches along the shore, and the water of the lake is rather cold, so we did not swim at all but made up for it beforehand in Austr

The room was very quiet with no sounds from adjoining rooms, although we were there in July which is apparently a relatively quiet period. The desk staff (Italian and US) were very pleasant and very helpful. The room was clean when we arrived and was daily cleaned to a high standard. Room facilities were very good - tea/coffee making equipment was provided (which is very important to the English!). The air conditioning was on (a good thing as the temperature during the day was typically 30 degrees!) and could be adjusted to our requirements. The food in the restaurant, although not cheap, was excellent - which is important if, like us, you don't want to drive into town to eat (in high season I would guess that parking in Como itself would be dificult). Hotel staff told us that it's about a 30 minute walk into Como, although there are of course taxis. The garage is expensive (20 euros a night). We used it as we had a brand new hire car and were abit paranoid about getting it scratched! However you can park in the service road outside - it looked pretty safe to us. If we ever go to Como again, we'll definitely look to stay in this hotel.

We were very disappointed with this hotel, the room bore no resemblance to the photos on the website.when i asked for a different room we were informed that it was a premier room! It seemed to me that it had never been refurbished since the hotel was built. The wallpaper was torn, the sink had many cigarette burns, the decor resembled the 70s. This is totally honest, after a 10 hour car journey we were too tired to argue. The rate should have been half, for the standard of this hotel.

We thought this place was a bit pricey but you certainly got an excellent breakfast and the rooms were lovely and spacious. Reception could be very helpful depending who you got - some were, some weren't. Drinks at the bar were expensive but you expect that in these places. We always ate out as the restaurant is usually expensive and not as colourful as being out in the general public

I enjoyed the one night, traveling with five friends. The only negative comment is that there was a wedding in the main room which was quite noisy until late in the rear facing rooms.

The hotel and the facility was excellent. It was just far away from Como city centre and the view from the hotel was not that great (compaire to the price I paid).

A great hotel in a superb location very near the lake. Had an adjoining room for the children. A special treat for us on our budget holiday. Staff helpful with very good English. Breakfast fantastic. Good value for money. The Grand Hotel di Como made our stay (august 05)in this beautiful place even better. Would love to come back very soon.

The hotel is in Tavernola, right next to Cernobbio. Take either the water ferry or the #6 bus to and from Como. Easy walk to Cernobbio and their restaurants, Villa d'este, etc. Accomodations were great. We'll stay there again next time we're in Como.

We arrive late in the evening and the reception staff had been expecting us check in was very quick I had asked for a nice bouquet of flowers with a card in my room for my wife, this was all taken care of and found a beautiful bouquet waiting for my wife in a large vase. Our room was very clean and spacious with a large bed and sliding glass doors, the bathroom had a large bath with a good shower the room was always cool from the a/c. There was no traffic noise in the room, we booked a 4th floor front facing of hotel. The hotel was very clean when we arrived and had on going cleaning during our stay from main entrance through all the corridors/floors etc. Breakfast was very good with a good variety of things, if there was something you wanted that was not available the waiters would cook it for you. All the reception staff were very helpful with where to go - directions - places to eat etc etc. We both enjoyed our stay at the Grand and would recommend this hotel.
