Amaryllis Beach Resort - Bridgetown

We were in Barbados for 10 nights and stayed at the Amaryllis Hotel. When we arrived and taken to our room (ground floor, ocean view), we were disappointed as the room was cramped, the bathroom needed some work done, nowhere to put toiletries (not ideal when staying for 10 nights!) and there was damp - this was not the paradise we were hoping for! We informed the staff at reception, who said that someone would contact us, but nothing happened, so we had to chase them a few times. In the end we spoke to the manager who was more than helpful and immediately found us a suitable room. The above ratings are based on the 3rd floor ocean view room which was perfect for us. Absolutely loved it. From here onwards our stay at the Amaryllis was excellent. We didn't go all inclusive as we wanted to explore the other restaurants on the island, but we often had lunch at the resort, which was delicious. The resort was perfectly located, just a short ride to Bridgetown and St. Lawrence Gap, and the bus stops (2 Barbadian dollars per person - bargain!!) were conveniently located outside the resort. It was safe to travel on ZR buses. The beach itself is small, but stunning and peaceful; makes a change to other crowded beaches. However, you could access the other beaches easily and go for a morning or evening stroll. The people staying at this resort were mainly mature couples, but it seemed that generally travellers to Barbados were slightly older - which didn't affect us at all. If you want to chill out then I would highly recommend the Amaryllis Beach Resort - it's a clean, peaceful and friendly resort.
