We had a pleasant stay at the Hotel Alstadt. The room was very quaint and surprisingly large. The hotel is ideally located in the Old Town and is a perfect starting point for sightseeing. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. The only negatives: The beds were very hard and uncomfortable and the pillows are quite "thin". The hotel seemed to be short staffed. We ended up taking our bags to and from the room ourselves after waiting at least a half hour for a porter. If you drive to the hotel make sure that you request your car at least an hour before your depended departure. We waited one hour and fifteen minutes for them to bring our car.

No Air Conditioning, so the windows had to be left open, which brought in street noise. However that being said, this hotel is excellantly located to shops, and numerious sights. The restruant very nice, excellant service and with an added sun room available making for a wonderful dining experence. Breakfast a little pricee. The room key has a very heavy brass fob on it, making it difficult to carry in the pocket. Something to be said for electronic key's.

The hotel, service and atmosphere was absolutely fantastic...we really enjoyed our staff and will definately be back. On a negative note the cost of the breakfast was not that competitive as one can get a breakfast just as good but cheaper in the many beautiful cafe Salzburg has to offer.

1. Not worth the price 2. Front of hotel (on river side) is in bus lane so during the week you cannot park, even to unload bags. Difficult to find back of hotel in pedestrian area to fetch valet to park car. 3. We asked if the breakfast was included with rate and were to yes. When we paid the bill we found we were charged 13 euro each for breakfast. (Their English was quite good, not a language barrier) 4. Our flight was delayed so we missed connection. Called hotel to tell them we would miss first night. We still had to pay for that night as too late for cancellation. OK, but we were also charged 13 euro each for the breakfast we did not eat!! 5. Our room was on the 5th floor of the annex. The elevator only goes to 4th floor. No air conditioning in room. We left the windows open at night for air-flow, but the noise from the street was awful.

We had some confusion at the train station with the taxi over the name, and once we got there we realized the name is really Hotel Altstadt. This is among the nicest hotels I've seen anywhere. We were upgraded to a suite overlooking the river. Everything here was 5 star. The building is beautifully renovated, the staff was very helpful. Mozart Square is outside the front door. Breakfast was extensive cold buffet, American breakfast was available if you asked. The bed was so comfy, we had trouble getting up in time. A luxurious base to explore the Salzburg area. The staff very promptly e-mail me regarding any questions I had too. This is where you want to stay.

A quality hotel superbly sited in Salzburg Old Town and with an excellent discount price through Venere. Furthermore, although we booked a standard room, we were upgraded to a suite at no extra cost. Wonderful !!

Lovely hotel in the old city, close to the Schloss and the Festival Hall etc. with lots of shops and restaurants in the neighbourhood. They gave me a room on 5th floor, an attic, as it were, quiet and clean but no view. But changed it to a very spacious beautiful junior suite on 4th floor with a view facing the river the next morning (as I reserved a room with a view through Venere.com.) Staff all efficient, friendly and helpful, arranging tickets for concerts etc. Had a most pleasant stay and will choose it definitely the next time. I recommend the hotel highly to anyone visiting Salzburg. It's truly value for money.

The whole holiday, from booking to collecting our photographs was wonderful. The service from Venere was excellent, the hotel was just what we wanted and exactly as advertised. The New Year holiday was truly magical. We will return to the hotel, and we will book that and other holidays through Venere. Luxury and ease and excellent service! Thank you.

A great hotel, right in the middle of sigthseeing and shopping in the old part of Salzburg. The only problem is parking (which I have found with two other hotels in the same neighborhood): one entrance to the hotel is on a very busy street (Rudolfskai) along the river with no place to pull over, and the other entrance is on a shopping street (Judengasse)in a pedestrians-only area. The hotel staff was very helpful in taking care of our car, but it did cost 25 euros for one night. Otherwise, this is a great hotel!
