We had a great time in La Malmaison and I am saying this after numerous bitter experiences in other hotels accross Europe. The only minor comment is that the cleaning lady came every day during siesta time when we were in the room so at the end of the day she only replaced the towels but did not actually clean and do the beds. The food at restaurant Villa Corleone located right next to the hotel is GREAT!!!

We received a very warm welcome from the staff, they were very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. The interior of the hotel is newly renovated (as advertised), it's modern and well maintained. The large foyer and dining area feels more like a 4 star hotel, the high ceilinged rooms are very nice, too. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic hotel in a good central location - close enough to Promenade des Anglais and ideal for the train station. Our room was spacious and quiet and very very clean. Reception staff were extremely helpful -pointed us in the direction of some very good restaurants. Buffet style breakfast is served between 7.00am and 10.00am daily and, although basic, was good quality. We were there for the Monaco Grand Prix and admittedly, like other hotels in Nice, the prices had been hiked up so we expected to pay over the odds. Free Internet access in the hotel lobby was a real bonus when we needed to keep an eye on the flight situation due to the volcanic ash cloud. A bit expensive to be "just a base" but an ideally located quality hotel - we will definitely return.

Conveniently situated for promenade (5 minutes) and town centre(10 minute walk) along leafy Avenue Victor Hugo, and the same west to Musee des Beaux Arts and Russian Church. High ceilings, large clean rooms, comfortable beds, efficient service, and reasonable rates, what more could you want.

Coming back to Nice after 30 years was a great experience, stayed for 4 nights. The Hotel La Malmaison was very good; the slight problem we experienced with the aircon one evening, was dealt with and repaired very quickly so no complaints. Good area and quite quiet 5 mins walk to beach, and an aray of restaurants including the restaurant attached to the hotel. Receptionist on arriving and throughout were very welcoming and assisted us with directions.

Booked "privilège" room, meaning a superior room. Webpages indicated a room with nice city views and a balcony. Surely, there was a nice balcony with a great city view, but the room itself was dark, as the only window faced the back and side walls of the integrated balcony -- no natural light. It could just as well have been located in the basement. The room was poorly furnished, e.g. no desk lamp, no sitting chair for all that extra "superior" space, no table, and a ghastly, huge black cabinet which was locked (used for housekeeping storage?). So get a regular room or make sure to inquire about the exact "privilege" room you are getting.

Nice hotel. Clean room. Clean bathroom. Close to beach. Fridge did not work. A bit expensive. Triple room smallish but adequate. Would stay here again and would reccommend to others. Good for European standards.

The first room we were given was so small we felt claustrophobic. They changed the room to a slightly bigger one. The hotel was virtually empty so no atmosphere at all. We weren't allowed to have the air-conditioning on. The breakfast was very poor and we felt overall the hotel was dull and uninspiring for the price.

Overall, a very good experience. The booking process went very smoothly. The hotel has an excellent location, good facilities, clean and quiet rooms, and friendly competent staff. We would strongly recommend the hotel and Venere to others wanting a comfortable and convenient place to stay in Nice. The only small complaint is that the breakfast seems expensive.

The hotel is in a convenient area, close to the promenade. Although the surroundings are nice, the hotel has to work a bit on the interactions with the customers. I was nearly charged for breakfast and I never got breakfast there. Luckily I checked the bill...

We stayed in Nice only one night. The hotel is quite near to the main attractions, just a few minutes walk. The rooms are really spacious and cosy. The bathroom was a bit shabby. The price was a little bit higher than it should be but anyway I would advise this hotel for those who like modern structures.

The hotel was great. The room had plenty of space and was very clean. It also had a great balcony with a view which was fantastic. The staff were really helpful. The breakfast was extra (as indicated on the webpage) but was well worth the 11 euros - there was plenty of variety. The webpage information accurately portrayed the hotel.

First time in this hotel. Everything was satisfactory apart from the thin walls & staff bickering with each other one morning in the kitchen. Breakfast was one of the better buffets (egg boilers, cold meats & cheese) and it's one of the few hotels in Nice which has free wifi - useful for business travellers. The complimentary water in the mini-bar is a nice touch. The recetionists were curteous and friendly (thanks to Nathalie in particular)

The Hotel is in a great location, three blocks from the beach. There were great restaurants within two to three blocks. Very nice exterior and interior. Our room was really spacious and clean. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, but went by the room in the morning a few times and it looked appetizing. The staff is friendly but not overly helpful, which didn't bother us as we had planned things out ourselves. Parking is not inexpensive if you have a car, but there is a garage very close. I travel extensively in the U.S. and this hotel is comparable to a very nice W Hotel without a full service restaurant and happening bar. However, the restaurant located below the hotel is excellent and there's plenty of nightlife, if that's what you're looking for, close by.

The hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the train station, and is in a charming old building. Our room was enormous, and beautifully decorated - felt like a five star hotel. We were unable to use the free wi-fi as the night clerk couldn't find the passwords though. Breakfast was probably overpriced, and there are a multitude of food choices all within a 3 minute walk of the property. Excellent location for shopping, transport etc. Would definitely go back.

Fantastic stay. We were in a priviledge room (55). It was very roomy with a kitchenette and sofa bed. Would be great for families. The bed was really comfy and a decent size. Our room didn't have a balcony but others do. The breakfast was good - had ceral and eggs in addition to the usual European food. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is well positioned if you plan to use both the beach and the train during your stay.

This was a perfect hotel for our requirements (family of three). The sea front is 5 minutes walk away, as are bus stops for going around the city. The station is only a ten minute walk away and is ideal for a day-trip to Monaco. The hotel itself is very well appointed and the sound-proofing is superb. The beds are comfortable and the rooms spotlessly clean. The hotel certainly punches above it's star rating. The only quibble is with the breakfast, where you would have to eat a lot of the buffet in order to get 11Euros worth of breakfast. Having said this there are plenty of Cafes nearby if you want to step out for breakfast. As far as dining out is concerned, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from (The Baraccuda down rue Meyerbeer got two visits from us) and the Corleone in the hotel basement is worth a try.

The La Malmaison is very well situated and we were especially lucky to be provided with a room with a balcony. The breakfast was extremely good and, interestingly, the manager(ess) visited each breakfast table to say "good morning" to all guests and briefly pass the time of day. A nice touch, and done very naturally. The only slight quibble was that the bar - which supplied very pleasant wine in the evening - was unable to provide a coffee.

The air conditioning in the room we were offered was making a huge amount of noise plus we were really itching after the night between the sheets of the bed. It was last days of October and, although still high season, the air condititoning was not actually working anymore. It was really hot in the room and we had to keep windows open which meant quite a lot of noise in the room from the big street outside. We requested another room the next morning and this one, although smaller, was much nicer and quieter. All in all the stay was very nice, service excellent and the breakfast also quite good. Venere should be more clear in indicating whether the breakfast actually is included in the price or not. We thought that it was but were told in the hotel that it isn't. This was not a nice surprise.

This as my second visit to NIce but my first time staying at La Malmaison. When we come back to Nice again, I will be staying at La Malmaison. It was a perfect holiday. We booked a privlege room, which are the "deluxe" rooms of the hotel. I didn't see what the other rooms were like. We had a very nice room with a brilliant balcony which overlooked the streets below and also looked out over the city.(We were on the 5th floor!)The hotel is only 5 mins from the Promenade/ Beach. The beach is not sandy,so bring some light footwear for use in and around the water! It's a pretty nice hotel. My Fiance liked the breakfast and had every day there. Only problem was air conditioning leakage the last day. And one of the Receptionist called the Taxi before asking us to take us to the airport, instead of the train station. That cost us more money and put a sour note on our stay. However, the other Reception Representatives took VERY good care of us. I would still recommend this hotel. ***Be sure to know that the beaches have large rocks that can be painful for the feet and make it hard to enjoy the beach.
