The directions we received from the airport bus were unclear; so, try to get clear directions or have a map handy. We received a warm greeting from the woman at the reception desk, who was also very helpful in providing suggestions for finding a place for dinner on a Sunday evening. The room we got was surprising large and had a private balcony. Even though we faced the street, the room was quiet at night. Being fairly centrally located, the hotel had unexpectedly few businesses close by (grocery, bakery, restaurants), although there were some a few blocks away.

My wife and I thouroghly enjoyed our three night stay at la malmaison. From welcoming to goodbyes the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was of adequate size and perfectly clean. The balcony overlooking Victor Hugo Blvd was pleasant, and the location of the hotel was very convenient for everything we wanted to do. It was the best hotel we stayed in during our 12 days in France.

Comfortable room, good room service daily. Reception staff were mainly friendly and helpful though not all; hotel bar not open and did not seem to have any extras so had to use local shops. Free wifi in rooms but have to ask for password from reception. There was a smell of sewage in the lobby and one night we returned to find a lorry clearing the sewers so that did help. Restaurant next door was not always open so cannot comment on food as we went elsewhere. About 10 minute walk from the main part of town so an ideal location. You can hear the other guests at times but overall we were satisfied with the hotel.

We had a great time in La Malmaison and I am saying this after numerous bitter experiences in other hotels accross Europe. The only minor comment is that the cleaning lady came every day during siesta time when we were in the room so at the end of the day she only replaced the towels but did not actually clean and do the beds. The food at restaurant Villa Corleone located right next to the hotel is GREAT!!!

We received a very warm welcome from the staff, they were very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. The interior of the hotel is newly renovated (as advertised), it's modern and well maintained. The large foyer and dining area feels more like a 4 star hotel, the high ceilinged rooms are very nice, too. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic hotel in a good central location - close enough to Promenade des Anglais and ideal for the train station. Our room was spacious and quiet and very very clean. Reception staff were extremely helpful -pointed us in the direction of some very good restaurants. Buffet style breakfast is served between 7.00am and 10.00am daily and, although basic, was good quality. We were there for the Monaco Grand Prix and admittedly, like other hotels in Nice, the prices had been hiked up so we expected to pay over the odds. Free Internet access in the hotel lobby was a real bonus when we needed to keep an eye on the flight situation due to the volcanic ash cloud. A bit expensive to be "just a base" but an ideally located quality hotel - we will definitely return.

Coming back to Nice after 30 years was a great experience, stayed for 4 nights. The Hotel La Malmaison was very good; the slight problem we experienced with the aircon one evening, was dealt with and repaired very quickly so no complaints. Good area and quite quiet 5 mins walk to beach, and an aray of restaurants including the restaurant attached to the hotel. Receptionist on arriving and throughout were very welcoming and assisted us with directions.

Booked "privilège" room, meaning a superior room. Webpages indicated a room with nice city views and a balcony. Surely, there was a nice balcony with a great city view, but the room itself was dark, as the only window faced the back and side walls of the integrated balcony -- no natural light. It could just as well have been located in the basement. The room was poorly furnished, e.g. no desk lamp, no sitting chair for all that extra "superior" space, no table, and a ghastly, huge black cabinet which was locked (used for housekeeping storage?). So get a regular room or make sure to inquire about the exact "privilege" room you are getting.

The first room we were given was so small we felt claustrophobic. They changed the room to a slightly bigger one. The hotel was virtually empty so no atmosphere at all. We weren't allowed to have the air-conditioning on. The breakfast was very poor and we felt overall the hotel was dull and uninspiring for the price.

First time in this hotel. Everything was satisfactory apart from the thin walls & staff bickering with each other one morning in the kitchen. Breakfast was one of the better buffets (egg boilers, cold meats & cheese) and it's one of the few hotels in Nice which has free wifi - useful for business travellers. The complimentary water in the mini-bar is a nice touch. The recetionists were curteous and friendly (thanks to Nathalie in particular)

The Hotel is in a great location, three blocks from the beach. There were great restaurants within two to three blocks. Very nice exterior and interior. Our room was really spacious and clean. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, but went by the room in the morning a few times and it looked appetizing. The staff is friendly but not overly helpful, which didn't bother us as we had planned things out ourselves. Parking is not inexpensive if you have a car, but there is a garage very close. I travel extensively in the U.S. and this hotel is comparable to a very nice W Hotel without a full service restaurant and happening bar. However, the restaurant located below the hotel is excellent and there's plenty of nightlife, if that's what you're looking for, close by.

This was a perfect hotel for our requirements (family of three). The sea front is 5 minutes walk away, as are bus stops for going around the city. The station is only a ten minute walk away and is ideal for a day-trip to Monaco. The hotel itself is very well appointed and the sound-proofing is superb. The beds are comfortable and the rooms spotlessly clean. The hotel certainly punches above it's star rating. The only quibble is with the breakfast, where you would have to eat a lot of the buffet in order to get 11Euros worth of breakfast. Having said this there are plenty of Cafes nearby if you want to step out for breakfast. As far as dining out is concerned, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from (The Baraccuda down rue Meyerbeer got two visits from us) and the Corleone in the hotel basement is worth a try.

The air conditioning in the room we were offered was making a huge amount of noise plus we were really itching after the night between the sheets of the bed. It was last days of October and, although still high season, the air condititoning was not actually working anymore. It was really hot in the room and we had to keep windows open which meant quite a lot of noise in the room from the big street outside. We requested another room the next morning and this one, although smaller, was much nicer and quieter. All in all the stay was very nice, service excellent and the breakfast also quite good. Venere should be more clear in indicating whether the breakfast actually is included in the price or not. We thought that it was but were told in the hotel that it isn't. This was not a nice surprise.

The room was very big with 3 beds and the bath room was very spacious and clean. I enjoyed staying at this hotel very much.

Helpful friendly staff. Quiet room on back of hotel with semi-view to west. Conveniently situated for Prom des Anglais and 10 minute walk to old town. When arriving on bus from airport, alight at stop Rue Meyerbeer.

Well positioned considering cost... just a few blocks from beachfront. Helpful and friendly reception staff. Although the room was quite small, it was clean and adequate for our short stay. Altogether a good experience. "Type and number of available rooms" - can't answer this question.

The room was clean when we arrived, but the maintenance was not good enough.

This as my second visit to NIce but my first time staying at La Malmaison. When we come back to Nice again, I will be staying at La Malmaison. It was a perfect holiday. We booked a privlege room, which are the "deluxe" rooms of the hotel. I didn't see what the other rooms were like. We had a very nice room with a brilliant balcony which overlooked the streets below and also looked out over the city.(We were on the 5th floor!)The hotel is only 5 mins from the Promenade/ Beach. The beach is not sandy,so bring some light footwear for use in and around the water! Safety deposit box in our room was free and so too was the air conditioning, which was needed because it was July and very hot. Towels changed every day during our stay. Altogether a brilliant holiday and will be staying there when we go to Nice again.

It's a pretty nice hotel. My Fiance liked the breakfast and had every day there. Only problem was air conditioning leakage the last day. And one of the Receptionist called the Taxi before asking us to take us to the airport, instead of the train station. That cost us more money and put a sour note on our stay. However, the other Reception Representatives took VERY good care of us. I would still recommend this hotel. ***Be sure to know that the beaches have large rocks that can be painful for the feet and make it hard to enjoy the beach.

This hotel was extremely nice and just what we wanted - being a short walk from the station and also within walking distance of the Promenade des Anglais. I would certainly recommend it as a good place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay in this newly refurbished hotel in Nice. It is in an ideal location for exploring the area, ten minutes from the railway station and beach areas. The staff, especially the breakfast staff, were very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to others.

The service was very good except the cleaning of the terrace. It was not cleaned the week we were there. Short distance to beach and to the railway station.
