Wonderful location, excellent staff. Go for the riverview rooms.

A very recommendable hotel for visiting Porto and Vila Nova da Gaia. Phantastic vue of the Douro river from our room. Try to get one of the rooms on two floors. The hotel staff is very friendly, competent and helpful.

Pictures on venere.com didn't do the hotel justice - the hotel is far lovelier in person. Staff was wonderful, room was large and clean. We splurged for the riverview room - absolutely worthwhile - Amazing view of the luis 1 bridge. Breakfast is great as well. Highly recommended.

Our luggage was lost and the hotel staff did everything they could to help us out, including keeping tabs on the airlines as to where our luggage was and when it would be delivered to the hotel. The location was incredible as well, overlooking the river and the perfect place to start several walking tours or just to spend the evening on the river.

Pestana Porto was in a convenient location. Even though it was on a very busy and popular corner, the rooms had great sound proofing. We were able to walk to many locations, including the train station. The view of the Douro river was amazing. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide selection of both hot and cold items.

Perfect

The most beautifull place to stay in Porto. Centered amongst shopping, river view, restaurants and bars, this is the place to be. Across the river there are all the Port houses to visit and more Porto to discover. Love the city, love the Pestana Hotel.

We had a rear room (cheaper); it was on a pittoresque small street and was OK. Very comfortable bed, pillow and duvet.

The superb location was the best feature of our stay on the Ribiera Square. A riverside balcony and the views across the Douro were amazing. The staff were very helpful and friendly, even providing us with a personal weather forecast when we mentioned we were concerned about rain. Porto is absolutely charming, delightful houses, port wine lodges and beautiful tilework everywhere

We had a 2 night reservation for Oct 13 and Oct 14 nights. However, when we arrived in early afternoon, we were informed there was a sick guest who was not able to check-out. As there were no other rooms available, they made reservations for us at the Mercure Hotel (a very nice room). They paid for our cab to the Mercure and back to Pestana Porto for the night of October 14th. We were disappointed not being able to stay there 2 nights but they were very courteous to us. Even a welcome drink.

WE had a great view of the river and the Luis 1 bridge from our room. A great hotel in lovely position. W ould recomend it.
