Very welcoming and helpful reception, clean and comfortable rooms, if a little cramped. Nice to have a large balcony. Very quiet room apart from noise at night from roof (probably malfunctioning solar panel). Plenty to eat for breakfast. Very handy for centre of town, bus and train station. Good value

If you have to go to Faro, then this is a good place to stay. The bus to the beach goes from this street and it is only a few minutes walk to the main bus and rail station (to get out of Faro!). The rooms were pleasant enough. The staff would wake us up in the morning by shuffling around the courtyard and speaking loudly, but if you went to bed early enough, you could get enough sleep.The breakfast was basic but served by the friendly owner. The courtyard is the act here and a pleasant place to start your day from. The satff were cordial but nor overly pleased to see you. Questions were answered by refering you to other organisations (bus, rail, etc). The front counter should have bus and rail timetables at the very least (but aparently due to the constant chages they stopped bothering). Having said all that, if i had to go back to Faro (which i will resist with every fibre in my body) i would stay here again. If only for the fantastic pizza place down the road.

The hotel surroundings has to be marked a little lower as the area is quite run down but this does not take away from the quality of the hotel and the area, though run down has a good feel to it. The hotel is outstanding for the price-rooms well presented and cleaned and good lounge and breakfast room. Very competent friendly staff. Town well located for rail and road travel and plenty to occupy yourself for three or four days.

Really friendly staff, who actually care about the guests who are staying there. Cannot fault them on anything. Not to mention that they have a whole range of herbal teas - try the Melissa tea - absolutely fantastic. Perfect!

Some people have commented on this being a rough area of Faro. We found it to be fine. The hotel was lovely and quiet.Unsually the family room had 4 single beds, so the children didn't have to share. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the courtyard where we had breakfast was really nice. It also had secure underground parking. and staff told us of a very nice resturant within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Would recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at Residencial Sun Algarve. Although approaching it we were a bit nervous as it looks like a rough area, the hotel itself is very clean and modernized inside. The rooms are basic but with a spacious bathroom and great shower. It has an elevator and air conditioning. The breakfast room is very pleasant with a lovely outdoor patio at the back. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The owner speaks good English but the staff sometimes have difficulty. Luckily, we had read good reviews ahead of time and weren't put off by the rough appearance of the area. It is just a few minutes walk (left out of the hotel) to the main part of town - lots of cafes and shops and the old part of the town. We got a taxi to the hotel from the airport and it cost about 9 Euros. Our first night we arrived late and staff recommended a restaurant just round the corner called the ADEGO NOVA. We had a great meal there, although some difficulty with language as staff spoke little English. Obviously a favourite with locals and turned out to be one of the favourite meals of our visit to Portugal. Next night staff recommended a restaurant (turn right out of hotel - 5 min. walk - Churrasq St. Antonio). It was very modern inside and we had terrible, really rude service and the food was just okay. So avoid this place! We had lunch at a lovely little cafe called Pasteraria Aderito near Rue San Francisco. Very simple fare but clean and colourful inside and friendly service. They even called a taxi for us as it was raining when we were leaving. Next day we got a taxi to the bus station (5.00 Euro) and then a coach to Lagos (5.50 each for the 2 1/2 hr. trip). We thought Faro was a lovely town but a day or two there is probably enough to see everything.

The rooms which has a view to the street are noisy. It's common situation when local people and maybe tourists speak in a loud voice in the night. There is also a nice patio with little fountain. There live some aquarium fishes. They use patio for breakfast - on the open air -great. it's better to book rooms with the view to this patio. Thelocation is really good - 5 min from the bus and Renfe station - in the center of town. The town is magnificently quiet and original.
