We appreciated the front desk staff who spoke English and were very helpful. Breakfasts were great, again very friendly staff. The room was most comfortable, plenty large enough for us two, large bathroom, clean and bright, balcony was an added treat. Internet access was superb.Price was reasonable, certainly not overpriced. Close to a great Hungarian Restaurant and the Luckacs Mineral Baths- like walking distance. High recommendation to anyone who can walk a fairly steep hill to get to hotel.

Easy excess to Tram links and for sightseeing and bus Tours on the down side it's on an incline but if you don't mind a little hill climb. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone, staff were very helpfull in supplying maps and info on this Historic City and their knowledge of the English language was excelent.

Christan Hutin - Paris

We paid cheap and we got cheap. Complicated to get there as we were driving and they don't tell you most of the streets are one way only. For an older couple like us, I would have liked a bit more space. We felt like sleeping on an altar as the beds were placed higher than the rest of the room (had to fully wake up at night before going to the toilet otherwise I'd fallen down). Breakfast was OK, different kind of service. Lifts and lots of stairs going up and down, some ending nowhere.Receptionists were very knowleadgeable and each at least spoke 6 languages (the best). I bought some etchings from reception which saved time looking for them outside. Considering Budapest is still a cheap destination I would recommend to spend here a bit more and go to a proper hotel.

We had a huge room. The Tram is at the bottom of the street, about a 5 minute walk.

the hotel is in a very good position for visiting Budapest, the street seems quiet but pay attention to the terrible noise of trash collecting in the early morning! Good breakfast and very very good cleanliness in the whole hotel. We book the apartment (very beautiful, clean and new)to have the possibility to cook meals by ourselves, but the "kitchen" hasn't the cooking forniture, what a bad surprise! At our queries, the personnel provide with a small hot-plate, but no pots and pans... so, we enjoy the wonderful restaurants in Budapest but if we knew in advance the situation we could book a triple room only, more cheap than the apartment. And also, the apartment wasn't ready when we arrived at 4 pm, and then, at 7 pm, it wasn't ready too. We could enter it only after dinner,at 10.00 I think Papillon is a very good accommodation, but too many people stay at the reception-desk (I met 6 different people in 6 days...) and the don't speak each-other. We also buy at the hotel some postcards and stamps because they promise to mail them for me... Now, after ten days those postcards didn't arrive! I suggest: less people at the desk, more professionalty.

A nice little hotel in Buda side of the river. Located in residential area so if you want to stay in the city center don't choose this hotel (connection to the center with a tram is good though). All in all very clean hotel and everything seems to be new.

There were no feedback on the hotel when we booked, so we were a bit anxious about what would meet us, given the relatively low price -- but we were absolutely positively surprised about the freshness, cleanliness, quietness, service and friendliness of this place. As a family with two kids aged 5 and 9 we had a family room just above the reception, very spacy and functional, consiting of a hall, a fresh bathroom, and a large bed/livingroom with also a small table and two chairs. The mattress in the double bed looked very worn down and uneven, but for some reason we slept very well anyway, even Gunilla with her sensitive back. Although the room description said "kitchenette" there were no facilities for even teamaking, which was a bit disappointing. We could get hot water in the reception though, at least while there were people in the kitchen, i.e. until, I believe, 8 pm. The minibar fridge came in handy though. The room was very quiet except for Friday night when we were awaken by some overhappy youths in the street outside (on their way home from town or maybe the neighbouring pianobar). Breakfast was adequate (good salami of course!), considering the price it was perhaps better than could be expected. Some vegetables and dark bread would be great, but hey, when in Rome, do as Romans, I guess... We did not check out the outdoor facilities, since this was February and hence not the right season. Looked nice from the inside though. For our part, the location was just perfect as a base for exploring Budapest during our week there. Located in a quiet area just below a district of fine villas (including some embassys), it is still very close to communications, shops and restaurants. If, like us, you like to walk you can reach a lot from here by foot. Bottom line: Really great place if what you need is a fresh, friendly place to sleep, rest and eat breakfast.
