Overall good quality and friendly staff. However the very damp smell and condition of carpets on the 4th floor was off putting and ruined stay.

During our stay we faced 3 minuses: 1. The breakfast was not included in the price, although in confirmation letter it was written that since 2007 breakfast is included 2. The hotel has blocked not a little sum of money on credit card without any reason (not just the price of the stay) 3. Once the changed towel was with a black track of a palm All the rest was ok, the stuff was friendly, great location - near the railway station

hotel park plaza victoria amsterdam I would recommended for style friendleness and particulary for its location as it is just accross the road from central station where you get on or off for the airport. When you are walking around the city and your map reading skills fail all you have to do is get a tram to central Station and you are back at the hotel also Dam square is a 5 min. walk from hotel and the major shopping area.

A mouse was running in my first room! And another one in the second room they moved me to! This is the first so called 4 star hotel that I've stayed in where the tired and far too expensive rooms don't only come with bottles of water that'll cost you 8 Euro (!), but also with an additional mouse to keep you company. Beware!

The hotel was excellent , being opposite the central station & adjacent to most canal boat terminals . The staff all were very friendly & helpful . When booking in the reception said " you asked for a room with a view - do you want a view of the station or canal" The room was amazing being on 2 levels & recently renovated . It contained massive beams`& the original timber wheel used to lift things into what was the top floor of a house which later was incorporated into the hotel . Whilst a very busy location , day & night no noise came into our room . One of our best hotel experiences .

The hotel was excellent. It far exceeded our expectations. Can't beat the price for quality of this hotel. Location was excellent and close to main sights, shopping and eating. Construction was going on in front of the hotel but couldn't hear it inside. Cabs couldn't drop off immediately in front but had a spot very close by and bell caps would go and bring in your luggage. Could not have asked for better service.

I was surprised to have the sum of money (except the hotel rates and charges) blocked from the credit card for the guaranty. I was traveling in Europe (Paris, Brusseles and etc.) and also made booking from your system, but never my monies were blocked. Possible this can be considered reasonable but the person (guest) should be informed about it in advance. And as a result some of funds were blocked instead of being spent in the city. But I need to say that Hotel Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam is quite nice place to stay in Amsterdam. Really it has very convenient location and all the necessary facilities.

The web photos's show the main hotel which is lovely, the room we got was probably in the old part so although it did us fine, it was dated with no view. I'm sure they have better if we had specified. Great location, within walking distance to all and across the bridge from the station where you can pick up any Metro. The staff we met were lovely, very friendly and knowledgeable.

Room Service was horrible. It took 42 hours just to get the menu. The Front Desk staff sent the request on 4 different occasions but housekeeping did not bother. On a positive note the hotel is right accrosss the street from the rail system which makes it easy for eurail travel. On the other side it was very noisy...

Hotel Park Plaza Victoria was a great overall experience for us, a family group staying in Amsterdam in order to attend a musical event, and as a first-time overnight compared to previous day stopovers in the Netherlands. Rooms were excellent as the executive ones offered good price value compared to getting a standard room. Although only the smoking floor was available, it was ok - could be felt most of the time but I guess that's close to the local culture. The staff service was perfect. Check-in took a little time, but they were kind enough to delay carpet cleaning until we check out. Housekeeping were also keen to clean the room quickly on demand. Reception and concierge information and directions were fully useful and accurate. In addition, breakfast was diverse and delicious, and the health club's pool enjoyable. All this highly ranked comfort at a the very center near the train station, made our stay memorable.

This hotel is directly across the street from the Central Station so you don't have to wait around, especially when it is cold or raining. The tram lines pass in front of the hotel on two sides. The rooms are spacious enough. My only negative is that rooms on the little interior street can be noisy, partyers everywhere.

We have stayed at the Victoria before but not at such a busy time of year. This time we were disappointed by the offhand attitude of some of the staff, particularly the man who appeared to be the head concierge (he was wearing a jacket as opposed to the one with just a waistcoat, who was friendly and helfpul throughout) who was very brusque and occasionally rude and dismissive, pushing past us to get the luggage of the guests that he was dealing with into the baggage room before ours and turning away from dealing with my enquiry to deal with one from a much younger and prettier guest. When we checked out the queue was significant, which was understandable but the concierge staff did nothing to step in when a fight almost broke out between two guests, one of whom had pushed past the other in the queue and it ended up with me stepping in to separate the two men who were pushing each other and swearing loudly. The young woman staffing the reception desk at the pool also seemed much more interested in her iPod than in making sure that the towels were kept replenished and we were left waiting for her to make eye contact and take her headphones out before we could ask her to get some more. The idea of a non smoking room is also rather laugable as our NS room smelled of smoke and there was a helfy pile of cigarette butts on the windowsill where people had obviously been sticking their heads out of the window to have a quick smoke. Having said that, the rooms were lovely, with comfy beds and plenty of space - although this is what you expect for the price - and swimming pool and sauna area is very pleasant. The location is perfect and, despite being in such a busy area, it was very peaceful. We've stayed in most of the 5 star hotels in Amsterdam over the years and if I were basing my recommendations on this stay rather than the last one, which was in late June and was perfect, I would not stay again as there are better hotels at this price.

The best thing about the hotel is its location. Very close to the train station and all the action. Unfortunately, the only room we could have was a smoking apartment and I never realised how much stink do smokers make. The room was contaminated by cigarette smoke to the core. I was almost sick from the stink, my clothes stank, horrible. Hotel is also undergoing some renovations. But could recommend for the other location and not too bad quality.

Great Location - but it stops at that. This has been my worst hotel experience ever. 1st - We were put in a smoking room and they could not move us to the following night. 2nd - The room we were put in was almost in the hotel basement and on a noisy alleyway 4th - Toilet door did not shut 5th – The next day we handed in out keys to be moved to the new room. Arrived back in afternoon to get told that they forgot to move us, so they sent us to a new to wait for bags to be brought up. Waited for 45mins, no bags or phone calls. 6th – Phoned reception twice – no answer. I had to go to reception to enquiry personally only to get told that they had actually moved us and were in another room on the other side of the building. 7th - Arrived to 3rd room where they said that we had been upgraded - that was upgraded to a smaller room that overlook a construction site. 8th - It even took them 2 days to send up the apologetic bottle of wine. 9th – I could actually tell continue with story on as it actually got worse. My tip - DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

Very smart and well equiped room, ideal place to visit easily Amsterdam. BUT the service was hardly under the level expected for that rank of hotel.

there was building work going on in the hotel when we stayed(31/03/06 to 3/04/06), which in general we did not see or notice. However one of our party was staying at the back of the hotel and he was woken up at 8am on Saturday morning with noise from builders outside his room. This building work is due to be finished shortly. I would highly recommend this hotel. The friendliness of the staff is second to none. The location is perfect for everything. The Victoria's location is very good. Our room, however, was a little worn and rather small. We were given no directions to our room and naturally took the first elevators we saw. Bad move. We ended up in the wrong wing on the wrong elevator -- which worked sporadically -- lugging our baggage all the way.

The Victoria is a fine hotel & I have no complaints except for one.The hotel automatically charges you for breakfast every day you are there, which is about twenty (20) Euro per person, per day, even if you don't have breafast in the hotel. You must bring this to their attention when checking out & then they remove this charge (if you haven't had breakfast there of course). I have stayed in many hotels around he world & I have never come across this before. It baffles me why they do it. Besides that, the hotel is great, the staff very professional & friendly & I will stay there again on my next vist to Amsterdam. By the way, there are several places just around the corner from the Victoria Hotel that serve great breakfast for about six (6) Euro per person.

Every thing was fine except for noise from metro building work opposite. We thought the hotel breakfast price was too high and so ate elsewhere. We were automatically charged for breakfast even though we never wanted any in the hotel. This had to be taken off the bill. They should only charge this if the customer actually has breakfast and not assume therr customer has breakfast. because of this we had to go to reception and have the breakfast charge removed from our bill! The staff were very polite and helpfull and the location was perfect for us. I hope these comments are of use to you. Thankyou

Being able to exit the train station and see th hotel is a fantastic advantage to travelers such as myself. We were able to check in, drop off luggage, and immediately begin to explore the city. Though the hotel was more expensive than I would have liked, we got a rate that was market value and we were pleased with the room and very pleased with the friendliness of the staff.

this was our first trip to amsterdam so i read all the reviews on this site and have to say i was very nervous about how nice the hotel would be. We arrived and everything about the place amazed me. The photos on this site don't give the hotel justice. The staff were very friendly and all talked english very well. The only quibble would be that when we checked in, they said there were no double rooms available as i'd booked so late (3 weeks before) but i had received confirmation from venere of this room. I wasn't very impressed at this but they offered us a suite at 30 euros extra per night so we took it. Although later, we heard the reception staff say this to another guest so we thought they may do it when they have suites empty to fill them up. The room surpassed any of my expectations. It made our two days there so much better. We're already planning our next trip there!

Although the price was very cheap, the tax wasn't mentioned on the website. We are especially sorry that we weren't informed that the price was a special bargain (still thank you very much). Unfortunately the swimming pool was closed throughout our stay and this was one of the main reasons for our choice. There was a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke in the hallway leading to our room. Our room had a half painted wardrobe door, a fridge that didn't work and no toilet brush! The view from our window was of pigeons, dirt, loads of cigarette butts etc. Not what you would expect of a four star hotel. Reception didn't advise us of any of the hotel amenities on our arrival- they gave us our room key and at that point had no keys left for the mini-bar. The information about food etc was given to us from other customers already staying at the hotel. Twice throughout our stay we personally helped one family and another couple find their rooms!

The room we were given was in a dark hallway, it was not nice in comparison to what the reviews of the hotel were on line, and infact what the hotel looks to be. The room spelled awful, we must have been right over the fryer in the kitchen! We requested a non-smoking room but it wasnt available. Our impression was that this was a very nice hotel that discounts it worst rooms and that's what we got.

Very disappointed with service in Brasserie on Saturday night. Despite making a reservation for dinner we were left standing and ignored whilst two groups of people coming in off the street were greeted and seated. Having eventually been shown to our table we were dismayed to see that only one young asian waitress appeared to be serving the whole brasserie. After 15 minutes of waiting to place our order we asked the girl if they were having problems and she admitted there were long delays with food service due to staff shortages. As we debated whether to wait or go elsewhere to eat we heard the couple at the table above and behind us send their meal back. They had waited some time for it and on arrival it was cold. This decided us and we left the premises. This experience was totally out of character with the service and facilities offered by the rest of the hotel.

The price I obtained from Venere (2 nights 2people - double €250) was easily the best price on the Net by a substantial margin (half the price). Hotels in Amsterdam are not cheap and this one was excellent value. It is right opposite Central Station (perfect location). We checked in at 11.00 (too early); they told us that the room would be ready at 13.00 and stored our luggage securly. After a river trip (opposite hotel) we checked in and were told that our room wasn't ready, but were immediately (without asking) upgraded to an Executive Double for the same price. The City tax has to be added to the bill and they automatically add breakfast (€40 for two each day) which they deduct if you don't have breakfast (we had an excellent full english breakfast about three doors down for about €6 per person - much better value). ABOVE ALL WE GOT BETTER VALUE BY A LONG WAY FROM VENERE THAN ANYONE ELSE AND THE BOOKING CONFIRMATION BY EMAIL WAS IMMEDIATE.

Excellent location. Value for money good however a few gripes - was unable to contact housekeeping on the night of my arrival as towels supplied in room inadequate. Bathroom superficially clean. Would stay there again. Vic's bar - excellent!

When we arrived, the hotel did not have our booking and we were told they were full. Luckily I had my print out from Venere.com with me, so I showed them it, and the manageress went into the back room to check the internet. She found the booking and they apologised profusely, had a debate about what room to give us and swiftly offered us a suite on the first floor which would be ready in 45 mins. We went for a coffee, returned and it was ready. Outstanding quality, great view to the front, massive beds, sitting area and a gorgeous en-suite bathroom. The shower leaked a bit because the screen was a bit loose, but apart from this, it was outstanding. Their breakfast at 20 euros within the hotel is a bit expensive, we opted for Vic's bar at the front and the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon at 10.50 euros each is to die for....

A. room in general was pretty basic. B. after reporting sighting of rodent in our room we were offered another room but we feel that a hotel charging 190 euros per room per night for what was in our opinion a very basic room should ensure that said room/s are free of vermin.

The total costs should be inclusive of all local taxes as this added over 130 euros to the total price upon departing

It was OK to stay there during my stay. But the web-site of booking the room is very confusing. The reason why is as follows, I proceeded to book the room by booking web-site. And I found the room which cost 20Euro a night. When I check-in the hotel, the receptionist told me the room was not booked. I booked only breakfast. Actually, I could stay the room by their help. But I paid Euro217.92. I felt as if I was cheated. That was only problem during the stay.

On the whole the stay was excellent, top class hotel & service to go with it. Prices I think could be looked at in the future, more special rates available possibly?

We did not get room from 'rebuild side' of hotel. We expected a LOT more with 189E price. Never going again to that hotel.

We knew hotels are expensive in amsterdam, but the relationship between price/quality was terific ! The bath-tub comprised glares in enamel at several places. The remote of the TV, the trunk did'nt work, there was a building site (cranes, power pick) near the hotel. The reception was disastrous : one of the two keys to go in the bedroom did'nt work and they told us "no matter, if the other key works". All that for 189 euros the night !!!(without the breakfast include). I travel a lot and I never saw a hotel so rotted !

I found the hotel easy to find and in a good central location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities were very good and i enjoyed my swim in the hotel pool.My only reservation was the restaurant menu which i found to be limited and did not seem to cater for a very varied diet. In conclusion i enjoyed my stay and as i travel oftn to holland i will stay here again

This hotel was exactly as you had described and the location was excellent. The staff were all very helpful and friendly - nothing was a bother to them (something quite unusual in this day and age!) We would definately stay here again when we return to Amsterdam and we would recommend your services to anyone for booking accomodation. Many thanks for the great service - Keep up the good work.

A quality hotel (although rooms are small),with very capable and accomodating staff. It is perfectly located being 100mtrs from the entrance/exit of Central Station and a 15/20min train journey from Schipol Airport. It is also a perfect location to begin your tour of Amsterdam. The restuartant and bar although small are very well laid out and the bar in particular is very relaxing with excellent staff. The only issue I had with price was the hidden City Tax cost of 5% of your total hotel bill.

Although the facilities were excellent I am afraid for the price we paid, the rooms were poor in standard. Ours had no veiw at all but looked directly at another room window, the mini bar did not work properly, you paid for bottled water in the room, which I think at least should have been complemantary. We have been to Amsterdam on several occasions but will not be using this hotel again.

That hotel does never deserve its stars! We had such a cheap and shabby room! You wouldn't expect anything like that with the prize we've payed....very disappointing! But well that is not your fault that the hotel has such a bad way of presenting themselves. I mean what I got from your pix was like "Wow" and when I arrived it was more like "Yuk". So maybe I'd expected too much but well with that prize you can expect at least something I'd say!
