We arrived late so were very thankful the front desk had made very clear provisions for us to get into the hotel. The directions to hotel from the train station could have been a little clearer. Not real excited about the shower situation in the bathroom, floor got really wet. Staff was very nice, and breakfast was very satisfactory.

Great breakfast, good location at the edge of the old town that was close to el campo and duomo and buses. Very busy and noisy location, i needed earplugs to sleep. no air conditioning so needed to keep windows open at night. air cond. room would have let us close the windows and control the noise. otherwise very pleasant 3 night stay.

No volvería nunca.

The BAD: Breakfast was horrible, not worth it even for free. They should put some effort into it, or just get rid of it altogether. The shower had no tub or basin, just a curtain and a drain. There is no night staff (after 8pm?? I think), so you need a security code to get in, which we both forgot after a long night (after a long day of driving). The GOOD: The lady at the desk was very nice. The room was a decent enough size (we are cheap travelers, so it doesn't take much to please us). The location was good enough enough for walking around, although most people should opt for something closer to the plaza and church (the best reasons to go to Sienna).

It was a nice hotel for a short stay in the beautiful city of Siena. The hotel is small and nice, in an interesting location, close to all the major attractions and also the Train Station. The employees were very nice and polite. Definetively a very good option for a low price.

Good location, public rooms in hotel good and staff helpful. But the hotel is carpetted throughout and this needs removing or replacing urgently. Cleaning carts were left on the landings for the duration of our stay, but as the hotel is old and space restricted this is probably because there is nowhere to put them.

Below average price/quality (EUR 55 single). Hotel interior is run-down. Room was very small and bathroom needed some work. Breakfast was average by Italian standards. Next time I would look for somewhere else first.

I very nice and very cleen hotel. The capo ricevimento was a very kind and very nice and helpfull person. The hotel was 2 minuts from the place for the bus out of town, and 5 steps from the townbus. From the hotel we could walk al over the town, and just 10 minuts to the Campo. We spend 10 nights here. The breakfest was fine, better than some other places, we have been in Italy

We were traveling with someone in a wheelchair and found out on arrival that the elevator did not run after 8:30pm. This made it necessary to change to a ground floor room. This room had a continuous high-pitched noise caused by the plumbing. There is no one on the front desk all night so no one to help with this problem.

The hotel was in the perfect location. We were able to walk from the train station to the hotel as well as walk to the Piazza del Campo from the hotel. There is also a nice osteria/pizzeria across the street which is very good and they even do take-out if you don't want to stay there. Everyone in the hotel was very friendly and the breakfast wasn't too bad either.

The Piccolo Palio is 15 minutes by foot from the Siena railway station. Nevertheless, you have to climb to the city... The friendly staff is very helpfull, even though the young lady had a flu! The hotel is not luxurious at all, as expected, but moore than enough value for money. The room was convenient and in good shape. Informations from the servicedesk were very helpfull. We would stay here again, for sure.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It is an "old world" facility, but it was very clean, the bed was comfortable and it had a strong hot shower. The front desk was very helpful and considerate. The location was perfect right in the middle of Siena. It was close to the Campo, the Duomo, the bus station, the Fortezza, the Wednesday Market and all sorts of shopping. I had a single room and it was very small but adequate. It had a few flaws....the carpets were threadbare, the paint could have used a touch up, the shower drain was very slow and my room seem to magnify all the street noise. This was tough at 6:00 a.m. when the street cleaners came through. I enjoyed the complementary breakfast (cappucino/care late/tea, danish, yogurt, juice, biscotti) offered in the cafe across the plaza.

My 6 night stay was terrific. The only problems I had were the early room cleaning time, which isn't any earlier than any other hotel. I'm just a late sleeper. Also, the room I had was directly on the busy street, and the scooters passing by sounded like so many chainsaws. This was not a problem for me, as I could sleep through it, but my girlfriend wasn't too happy with it. Also, the shower was smaller than expected (being an American). That's obviously my fault though. Other than that, the hotel staff was courteous, the room was clean, the bathroom was adequate, and the room was just large enough for two humble travelers. If you're looking for more than a place to shower and spend the night, you might want to look elsewhere.

We were very disapointed! This was suposed to be a neat hotel an old monastary. The front desk is the same picture but they have a picture of were you eat breakfast. You don't eat there they send you across the street. We booked this hotel just for the look of the hotel and it was a complete disapointment! Also I notice the soaps and shampoos they gave us were from BEST WESTERN! ?

I had reserved two rooms, and got confirmation for both, but when we got to the hotel we were told that we had only one room. They said they never got notification of the second room. They did help us by finding another room in a different hotel, and adjusted the price so that our total was what it would have been for two rooms at the Piccolo Palio.

We had a problem when checking in. The room we were given was 1st floor behind the front desk, and in the bathroom the toilet was IN the shower stall. We complained and were moved the following day and our second room was a great improvement. The staff that met us on check-in was very ill-equipped. But the staff that came in later on our check in day were very courteous and helpful.

While the accommodations were acceptable; large room with very high ceilings and big bathroom, the level of noise was not. Street noise was very pronounced both nights we stayed in Sienna. The location of the hotel was good, except for trying to find it by the information provided on the web site. Once found, the location was good for seeing the sites of this ancient city. We were informed that parking was available at the hotel. This wasn't exactly the case. We were only allowed to park at the hotel to unload our luggage. Then we had to find a place outside of the city walls to park the car...which caused an inconvenience and concern because the car was not in a protected area. One point of interest others may find...there isn't a shower as we americans are used to. The entire bathroom is the shower. There is a shower head in the center of the bathroom, a floor drain underneath, and a curtain (which wasn't big enough). However, the experience was unique and acceptable. A little different than what we're used to but we got used to it. Overall, we liked the hotel and we'd recommend it to others. The location was good and even though the noise was a problem, we were too tired after each day of seeing the sites too really have it bother us to much.

We chose this hotel as it advertised having plenty of car parking in front of the hotel. However there was no parking only unloading area, the carpark was 10 mins. walk away and involved a charge per day. The rooms were dirty. Rubbish that was under the chair when we arrived was still there after 3 days. The breakfast was poor even by continental standards and was served in a room which was far too small for the amount of guests and this was at a time when the hotel was not full. This hotel was not as was advertised.

Though the public rooms were lovely and the staff were warm and welcoming, the noise level from the street (buses, cars, and motorbikes) made sleeping difficult. The beds were quite soft with permanent depresions in the middle. My husband woke up with sciatic pain in his back. the bathroom facilities in our room were tiny and we wondered how people of more substantial proportions could ever use the toilet or bidet.

When we arrived, the front desk person was talking on the phone (it appeared to be a personal call as at one point it looked like she's was going to cry). When we walked in, she put up her hand in the stop signal. We were unsure if this meant don't come in or don't talk to me until I'm off the phone. She continued to talk on the phone for 5 minutes while we stood there. Then once she got off the phone, she could barely speak english, so she was unable to tell us different things about the hotel. Overall, it was an ok accomodation. Kind of a dumpy hotel, and not in a great location.

After a not great stay in Rome, to arrive in Siena at Piccolo Palio was very comforting. The room was clean, fresh, and the staff attentive. Great location--close to bus station and an easy walk to Il Campo and our favorite restaurant--La Mossa (traditional food of Siena) Breakfast was OK but not great. The bathrooms were nice, but the shower was unique. The Piccolo Palio is excellently situated for the heart of siena, with most locations being only a short walking distance away. The pictures represent an excellent likeness of what to expect. Considering the price, the quality of the hotel is fantastic. Cleanliness is of a very high standard in both the adequately sized rooms and public areas. Breakfast is basic but we were provided, amongst other items, with fresh bread, ham and salami which other slightly more expensive hotels in the area do not provide. Other hotels in the area also lock their doors at a certain time in the evening making late evening excursions restricting, the piccolo palio has a security code door operating after 10.30pm allowing access whatever time you wish to return. This is especially good if you want to visit the italian version of an english pub for a little taste of home whilst away, which is located directly opposite the hotel. On the negative side, the majority of staff speak italian obviously, french and very basic english. This did cause a few communication problems especially on our arrival date when we tried to ring them to let them know we would be arriving after reception closed and had to get our key. Luckily we found someone who could speak to them for us to arrange door keys etc, otherwise we would have spent the night sleeping outside. Safest bet is to check the box for late arrivals after 10.30pm when booking in case you dont make it there in time like us.

Nice small hotel inside the townwalls and within walking distance from famous Siena's Campo. Its location and the lack of a large lounge make it quite fit for strolling throughout the historical town. The internal structure of the hotel discloses the origin of the building, but this only adds to it a touch of harmony with the surrounding town. One more good point is the easy access by car to the hotel, even though the parking place is not annexed to the building.

The property certainly didn't look anything like the pictures - we were expecting some kind of left over "monastic charm" at the very least. Location was quite convenient (accross from bus station to get back to train). Bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable with the springs poking through. Breakfast was mediocre, water for tea lukewarm. It was a relatively inexpensive hotel in a convenient location, but next time we will try another hotel.

The noise levels late at night were dreadful. No mention is made of the bus terminal outside the hotel or the fact that it is on a main road and junction of busy side road. Local youths gathered in the square each night and shouted at each other as well as the noise of their Vespas. Such a shame as the staff were good and the hotel clean and comfortable....if only we could have got some sleep!

This is one hotel which is much, much better that its pictures suggest. It is one quiet block away from the major luxury shopping street and ten minutes' leisurely walk from the Campo. Recently and tastefully renovated, all the rooms we glimpsed suggested four-star quality. Our room was simple, yet cozy and opulent. Soft lighting glowed on the rich tones of polished wood and brass fixtures. Thick curtains and traditional (working) Sienese shutters added to the romantic atmosphere. Things were intelligently laid out, so that the furnishings plus our luggage fit neatly into the available space, with enough room left over for even a "big and tall" American to comfortably manoeuver. The ultramodern bathroom was immaculate, with a sunken-floor shower. The desk staff became our special friends, guiding us to an incredible "ristorante". They made sure everything flowed smoothly and spoke beautiful English, yet they were also willing to help us practice our Italian. Finally, an assortment of continental breakfast items was provided through the entire day, and every little detail seemed designed for guests' utmost convenience. Finally, of all the hotels in Siena, this one even provides small signs to guide you there from nearby streets. I strongly suggest that you follow them to the Piccolo Palio, because it seems to be a gem among moderately-priced hotels. I made reservations online, and after several days received a confirmation by e-mail. It was all smooth and very happy sailing from there.

I was mistakenly led to believe that this hotel, though "a stone's throw" from the Piazza dell Campo, was also able to accomodate my car. When I called, the staff told me to park outside the city, whereas in reality they could have easily instructed me to drop off my luggage first (I did ask about this but got misleading info that the hotel was totally inaccessible by car). In fact, there is a public street that leads quite legally, straight to the hotel, and though you can't park, at least you can pick up and drop off! So I wound up parking outside the walls, rearranging all my luggage in the darkness and cold, and then hauling it 15 minutes walking to the hotel with my wife and daughter. As for the Piazza, quite a mighty stone's throw! About 12 minutes walk. We also received dinner recommendations to a restaurant that didn't exist! And we were told to walk on dark and dangerous-looking deserted streets! Sound absurd? It was! A wild-goose chase through dark streets by 3 extremely tired and cold tourists. I smile to think maybe we were the victims of the staff (only one) playing a practical joke. Nevertheless, we enjoyed Sienna beacause we are good natured, travelled far, from Asia, and didn't want to have our fun that easily spoiled by one either very incompetent or very mischievous staff member! I must also say that Sienna is such a difficult city if you have a car. And it's not easy to get there by train, either! (Train station is also outside the city) In other difficult parking cities where we travelled (Firenze and Roma), the hotels went out of their way to arrange garages for us or even park for us. I would like to know which hotel in Sienna will do that. I will stay there next time!

Hotel was promoted as being "a few steps away from the main piazza" ...not only did it not TELL you how to get to the hotel from the piazza, the walking distance was significant. In addition, the desk-person was not sensitive to people who did not know the area, so directions to arrive at the hotel with a car for unloading were totally insufficient (and incorrect), and when requested to provide laundry facilities nearby, they provided information that was not correct. In general, I would NOT stay at this hotel again, nor would I recommend it.

I contacted the Minotel Hotel immediately upon our arrival back in the United States. My husband and I had a delightful six days at the Puccini Hotel in Lucca but the Palio Hotel was probably the least desirable hotel that we have stayed in for many years. The location was misleading. It is located on the very outskirts of the medieval town and does not allow for parking nearby, unless you luck out. The lobby of the Hotel is shabby and dirty. Our room was cramped and very dirty. We could see lots of dust accumulated around the room. The faucets were loose so spun around and would drip. The lobby attendents were helpful for giving us directions and recommendations.

Although the hotel was in a fairly good situation to the main attractions and the staff were pleasant. Our room was tidy and very basic, the taps in the bathroom leaked for our entire stay (even though we made the hotel aware of the problem) and the noise from the busy street outside was unbearable at times, I would not revisit this hotel.
