Hotel Mercure Wien Westbahnhof - Vienna

The Hotel has a big Billboard, that one can only see during the day, as is not well iluminated. That causes confusion.

Breakfast is too expensive. Parking 15 Euro/night instead of 9.5 Euro as mentioned on venere.com. The hotel is well situated, close to Mariahilfer and all museums, public transportation is very close. Hotel is clean.

Hot water was available only on demand

This hotel is definitely not on the main square, but rather, just a short ride on the underground. Taxi ride was expensive from the train station. The rooms were big and clean. Shower was great, and bathroom was well equiped. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Near post-office and has a local drop-off laundry just 2 doors down. Safe neighborhood w/ fun local restaurants and stores. Good for the single traveler.

I asked for extra pillows but the receptionist said "I'll have to check and see if you're allowed any more!" Then she never got back to me :(

We stayed there for just one night and were mostly satisfied. For a 4 star hotel however we would have expected the rooms to be cleaner. Another thing was the high priced breakfast, they charge you extra EUR 14,- pp for that. The breakfast however is quite good, but you have to eat much to eat for EUR 14,- ...

The location was good but the room was too small.

The Hotel is just very close to a railway station on one of the very busy roads in Vienna. As the room did not have air-conditionning - which corresponds to the outline of Venere where it said it only had airconditioning in the main areas - and we stayed there in the midsummer, we had to keep the windows open. It did not help very much to reduce the temperature in the room but increased the noise level to an extend that it was almost impossible to sleep during the night. A four star hotel in my view should also provide airconditioned rooms. Besides that the stay was ok.

The Young lady at the front desk was most helpful, above and byond the call of duty. Our passports were stolen on the train and she did an excellent job tracking down phone numbers and making calls for us to the US embassy etc.
