My daughter and I were disappointed with our stay at Hotel Mercure Imlauer Wien. When we arrived we were placed across the road from the hotel proper in a room that smelled of smoke. We requested a non-smoking room and we were immediately redirected to a room in the main hotel.Hallways often smelled of smoke. While the room was spacious, we found the noise level from construction and cleaning staff to be quite distracting. As well, hairs on the bed and pillow cases, and unclean towels in the room made us feel uncomfortable. The room housing the spa appeared to be under renovation and we were unable to use it. Finally, the distance to walk in from the main road at night is considerable, coupled with the many closed or empty buildings, is a safety concern for women. Compared with the other four hotels that we stayed at in Europe this one hits the bottom of our list mainly due to location and safety, loud noise levels, cigarette smoke and unclean bedding and towels. The price paid is inflated given the quality promised.

As in many other hotels they give you the poorest rooms they have since you book from Venere. The hotel is OK. Venere should not permitt this fact. It makes travelers to be on a second lower class only because we use Venere.com

It's a nice hotel although we had a bad experience; we received two rooms without window and near the restaurant (as if we were in charge with the presence at breakfast). When we asked to change the rooms, they said the hotel was complete. It wasn't our first time at this hotel but it was the last.

Our first impression was one of disappointment as we did not like the cheap blue paint they had used all over the room and the overall appearance looked cheap. We had expected more from a 4 star hotel. We were also disappointed that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, and that there was no iron either in the room, nor could one be delivered to the room. The room was very clean and the staff were reasonably efficient. The breakfast @ €14 per person was not cheap but there was plenty of choice. There was also a mix up with the taxi meaning we had too little time to catch our return flight. The location was quite good. The overall impression was one of some disappointment...

Hotel was not in a great area but near a good one.Staff members not very helpful as tried to give me a very bad smelling smoker room when i reserved otherwise. They game me a 2 single bedroom when i asked for a double bed as it was my HONEYMOON.Very unfriendly and unhelpful staff in reception. THIRD room i was given was much better.
