We found this hotel excellent. We had problems with a changed air flight and the staff phoned and helped us with it. Very much appreciated.

The location of the hotel is very central, but the hotel is like a 3 star hotel. The room was clean but has smell of damp, the interior of the hotel was outworn and the cleaning ladies were making so much noise in the morning that we couldn't sleep.

not sure why the hotel is a 4 star hotel (eg no gym) - but overall it is ok Breakfast was good and lots to choice from the room was a bit small and a bif faded - needed a bit of TLC but overall OK Overall not a bad hotel Good location if you want to get the ferry Also not too far from the old and new part of town Easy to get to if catching the bus from the airport

We stayed there the first and the last night of our Sicily trip. The property is really nice and recommendable. We enjoyed or first stay on 6th floor and the tasty breakfast very much. However the second stay was on the 8th (last) floor and the aircon on the roof was very noisy.

Good location, good breakfast, big room, noisy elevators, staff not very helpful, poor English, many fails on the loby internet connection during our stay. Not as good as we've expected after reading other people comments posted on venere.com

This is a great hotel in a great location and a good value. The room was clean, spacious, well-equipped with amenities, and quiet (except the fan was a bit squeaky). Staff was very friendly, helpful, and spoke English. Breakfast was outstanding. The location is in a nice and safe part of town, and all the major sites are within a short walking distance. I took a bus from the airport for 5 euro and was let off at Piazza Politeama, just three or so short blocks away. The hotel called a taxi for me quite early in the morning of my departure (4:30 a.m.), and it arrived exactly on time. The hotel is modern and cheerful, and I highly recommend it for all travelers. I expect to return with my wife and kids. My stay was in early December. There are many good hotels in this part of Palermo, but I will return to the Mercure.

The hotel has a good location on a quiet street, which was a close walking distance to centre of old town and near to a number of good restaurants and cafes. Helpful staff, very good breakfast, clean rooms; we were very pleased with our hotel choice. Would come back again.

Very good hotel, business like but good too for families (we got a big and comfortable suite). Friedly staff and good location for shopping and sightseeing. If you are driving, the car parking service (at a charge)is defenitely worth it.

the hotel was modern and hip my sister and i stayed together there and had a big room with a seperate living room we were really happy with all the space their breakfast was the best of any breakfasts we had been served anywhere in italy so we were really happy with that feature desk seemed to be a little short staffed but the people were always helpful and professional to us the only thing a little difficult was the internet which we had to pay for in the lobby we needed plenty of help with the sightseeing and were given only a brochure later were given maps of the area and good directions about what buses to take and where to pick the up

Modern hotel situated just off from Via Roma. Good location for all attractions, only 5 mins walk from Teatro Massimo. Reception staff not very friendly, but provided help/maps etc when asked. Rooms were clean and everything worked OK. Sheets and towels were changed every day we were there. Great breakfast offering lots of fresh food to cater for all nationalities. No restaurant open at lunch/night time, but lots of places to go locally. Hotel bar open until 11.30pm, very large measures of spirits provided! We stayed at the Mercure for 3 nights and would recommend it as a good base for sight seeing. This was our first visit to Sicily, we didnt realise that Palermo was so big. Lots to see and do. We didnt hire a car as we walked around most places. Wouldnt recommed driving - its crazy...all the cars have dents and scratches. We took the bus to Mondello and also Trapani. Only a few euros. Both towns very quiet and pretty.

Although we did not like Palermo this hotel was an oasis where we spent most of our time. Our room was fantastic, clean, spacious and ever so slightly decadent. Ok it is a bulk standard hotel chain but when you have been on a long journey from Milan by train stopping off on the way at 2 and 3 star hotels, this hotel was an incredibly relaxing way to spend our last two days in Italy/Sicily. Breakfast was fine, the bar was fine and the TV package was great. We got this room at a great rate through Venere and would strongly reccommend it.

GOOD MODERN HOTEL IN CENTRAL LOCATION, STAYED HERE TWICE DURING OUR RECENT HOLIDAY IN SICILY ONCE WHEN WE ARRIVED AND THE DAY BEFORE WE LEFT. WE DID NOT HAVE TIME TO SEE MUCH OF PALERMO SO CANNOT ADVISE ON THAT. STAFF VERY HELPFUL GOD BREAKFAST SPREAD.

Well located in central Palermo within walking distance of most everything. Modern, well run facilty with excellent public spaces and generous breakfast layout designed to fit a wide range of tastes. Near numerous excellent restaurants and shops. Didn't have a car here, so don't know about the parking situation.

The bus from the airport drops you off at Politomea Square, a five minute walk away from the hotel and it only cost 5 Euros each. The hotel was modern, clean, bright and welcoming after 24 hours of travelling. It had a great balcony to look out over Palermo. The breakfast was excellent and their cappucino was hot! Walkable distance to everything. Palermo was a lot more charming than imagined and near the hotel there were different restaurants to try.

Breakfast was very nice first morning at 7.30. But having breakfast later was a mistake because things were missing, coffee was cold and so on. I guess it was meant to be a stylish built hotel, however much of the material used seamed so be cheap and broke easily. For example was our bathroom flooding because of some mistake in the construction and there was a hole in the roof in the reception area. We were offered a new room because of the bathroom.

Great hotel on a charmingly scruffy street (one that is quiet for Palermo) with interesting nearby restaurants and shops. A short walk to several car rental outfits at the water end of Via Mariana Stabile.

Hotel is centrally located and, compared to the surrounding neighborhood, is quite modern. In addition to the night booked, we stayed a total of 5 nights in conjunction with a group and the stay was very pleasant.

The hotel is phisically good. The building, the rooms, the A/C and the halls are all good. The problem is the people at the front desk. They are very slow and understand "nothing" of english and do not care about the customers problems. Additionally the parking space is very reduced and the hotel has not safe box. The first day we did not have soap at the bath and the second day we did not have shower towells. We asked for both but they never sent any. This hotel could be an excellent 4 star but they have to put better people to run it.

Good location and relatively clean but they do not provide the finer detail in the toiletries department that I would expect to see in a four star establishment. I was also really disappointed not to have 'proper' coffee in the morning with breakfast. Other than that very reasonable.

Although it was written that private parking was available, in fact we were informed that it was full and therefore we had to find another solution. Besides, we were informed that in any case we would have had to pay for it, which was not specified in the information about the facility. Besides this, some of the personnel was not really helpful and kind. But the location was excellent, rooms were spacious and clean.

Very dissapointed with this hotel. This premises is marketed as a four star....whereas it would more realistically pass for an ordinary 3star...at a push. Not quite sure how or where the extra star came from. The rooms, while very clean and quite new, were particularly small. The biggest annoyance however was the noise - the room we stayed in was right next to the elevator and suffered loud machinery noise all night. The hotel staff seemed surprised this was a problem. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel...there are far more charming...and much cheaper...options in Palermo

Electric power was off for more than one hour withour any explanation in the morning of our second days, no electric, no water for toilet, no hot water for shower. No information of public trasnportation at the receptuion, who does not think they are in a position that they shall know and provide them to the guests.

The photos shown on the site don't do justice to the overall quality of the hotel. It is a very beautifully designed place. Staff are very friendly and helpful The garage is on the small side, so unsuitable for large (long) cars and there are only 8 spaces available. Though the maps are accurate, it is a bit difficult to find the hotel, which is not signposted in town. One trick is to follow the signs for "Grand Hotel delle Palme" on the Via Roma and turn right just before reaching it.

My stay at this hotel was quite good, but I have a mitigated feeling on some aspects, especially the quality of materials used in the bathroom (a shower and you completely flood the room !!) and the language competences of the employees : you'd better speak a little italian because they do not speak english !!!
