Let me give you my general and objective review about the hotel: LOCATION: is not excellent, but It´s perfect..Why? It´s right, you aren´t in the center of city (with all the interesting places to see in one step) but you are like 10-15 min walking from them. Besides, you have a bus stop in front the hotel and the tranvy too. Also, You´re like 15 min from the airport (it means 18 € by taxi), and like 8 minutes from the train station, and this is very helpfull. HOTEL SURROUNDINGS: 2 supermarkets, a café, a souvenirs store and more (remember that in Graz is usual don´t work on Sundays)keep it on mind. There is a public market working on weekend. The hotel is 15 minutes away from a museum. THE BREAKFAST: it was 14€ (not includded at the price of the room); I´ll say expensive. However, out of the hotel you´ll find 2 supermarkets (15 steps from the hotel) and you can find sandwiches at 2.30 €. ROOM: we had a "special" double room, in this aspect, I didn´t see why was it "special", however, the room was fine: you had a refrigerator (minibar:coke,beer,wine,water,chocolates and more, of course it´s not free and it was expensive), a modern decoration, it had enough space: a closet, a table and a couple of sits. The Bathroom was excellent. internet free at room (bring you laptop)(see venere specification and is the same) My complains about the room: 1.-the air conditioning was a disaster, it wasn´t cold. We were there in July, and the heat was intensive somedays, for these days and the rest the air conditioning was nothing. 2.- the room was clean, they always change the towels (if you use the hotel language for this: left the towels on the floor). However, we find a “insect” in the wall, in some way, this is very, very, very disappointed. HOTEL (staff and others): the personal spoke English, very polite and always help you if you need their help. L'Hotel Mercure mantiene le promesse, anzi, in certi casi le supera. Camere ampie e silenziose, fornite di tutto. Prezzo adeguato. Colazione eccellente! Il suo aspetto esteriore (un moderno ma banale edificio) è assolutamente in contrasto con l'interno e la qualità del servizio offerto. Se tornerò a Graz prenoterò sicuramente al Mercure.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mercure... the hotel seemed to target business travellers, however it was perfect for a one night stop over in Graz and it is only about a 5 to 8 minute walk from the old town centre... One good tip is to go to the Sunday brunch at the Kunsthaus... nice food and live music!
