Rooms were 10 out of 10 for cleanliness, quietness and spaciousness. Reception was exceptionally efficient for check in and check out. Beware of buying drinks in bar, can be expensive if you don't check the menu beforehand. Breakfast looked really gorgeous but at €18 was hard to justify when nice breakfast easily available in local coffee bars for €6. Location perfect and easily walkable for all tourist attractions in E Berlin. Checkpoint Charlie, Wall, Gerndermenmarkt, Potsdamer platz, alexanderplats, tv tower, unter den linden, branderburg gate, reichstag. All in 3 to 20 mins walk. I would stay in Mercure CC hotel again

Excellent location, central, close to Checkpoint Charlie and Gendarmenmarkt and within walking distance of main sites (Reichstag, Berliner Dom/Museum Insel, Potsdamer Platz, Jewish Museum etc). Rooms were quiet, comfortable and clean and the breakfast buffet was very good (we got it included in a special pre-paid deal)though the service at breakfast was sometimes a bit slow. Overall we were very satisfied.

Great location - close to Checkpoint Charlie,U-bahn station, etc...Nice part of town. Breakfast was excellent. Very big spacious rooms. We did 5 days of holiday time in Berlin. The location was fantastic, the rooms were spacious, well decorated and very clean. The breakfasts were the best we have ever had in Europe, and the staff was always very accommodating. Only one concern: The rooms were VERY warm.(the couple we were traveling with had the same experience in their room.) By the third night we determined that the heat was coming from the bathroom floor as controlled by the heated towel rack, and from that point on we were comfortable sleeping. Some advice of the heat controls would be wise.

We stayed for 6 nights in this excellent hotel located in Berlin mitte, at a quiet street close to the busy Friedrich Strasse. It was a great cultural experience with 3 R. Strauss opera performances, two at the fairly close Staatsoper and one at Deutsche Oper (U-bahn from nearby Stadtmitte).

The Hotel is very well placed in a centicall and quiet street. You can go walking to main high light sites to visit in the center. The room asigned was more spacious than expected clean and full equiped to use computer... One of the big assets of this Hotel is the employess availability and competence. We forgot something in the room and their reactivity after check out has been the best I heve ever seen. Excellent. Brakesfast was not included in the price but quality and service are also very good.

Overall the staff and hotel was excellent with one significant exception. This was breakfast on the first morning . I arrived to be told there were no seats but was shown to a tented area for smokers which was to say the least not what I expected, especially as it was a wet and dull day. I would have preferred Mc Donalds, which is at least warm and indoors and usually no smoking! As a minor point the mini bar was a disapointment

My room was a nice surprise -- large, pleasant, and bright, looking out onto a leafy courtyard. For 101 euros per night in Stadtmitte (through Venere.com) I had not expected anything so comfortable. The room had a largish (for a hotel room) desk with a lamp and a good chair, two armchairs, and a small balcony. There was a separate dressing alcove with a closet and a laptop-sized safe, and a WC separate from the bathroom. There was no clock or coffee-maker. There was only one maintenance issue: for a reason I can't figure out, the door lock is baulky, and locking it always requires several attempts. The hotel is situated on a quiet street in what seems to be the therapeutic massage district, a few minutes walk from Stadtmitte and Kochstrasse U-bahn stations. It's very close to Checkpoint Charlie and Gendarmenmarkt, and an easy walking distance to many other tourist points. The breakfast buffet was good and offered a broad selection. Internet was 7.95 euros for 24 hours, which is cheap by local standards. The desk staff generally tried to be helpful, though their advice was not always 100% accurate.

This hotel was excellent on all levels. The breakfast was fantastic, the location was close to transport and sites. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was large, quiet and the bed was comfortable with a fluffy doona and pillows. Also the towels were of superior quality. Overall I would say that the hotel was first class and I would stay there again.

Nice and spacious rooms. The location is excellent as it is close to many of the places you will visit but it is very quiet at the same time. Note: it seems a new house is going to be built in front of the hotel so I suspect it might not be so quiet for some time in the future but this is only a personal suspect. We did not have breakfast in the hotel (too expensive). One thing I did not like was having to pay for the 3 nights in advance unless we paid an 100€ more for the stay (seems to be a common practice of the hotels in Berlin from what I investigated among the hotels offered by venere.com) Our stay was excellent and we would for sure return (making sure the planned building in front of the hotel is not being built by that time)

Fantastic room, big, very clean and with a balcony. Good service from the desk. Wonder why you can't be served in the garden after 22 - too bad in the fine weather. Breakfast too expensive. But if the price of the room had been 10-12 euro higher - incl breakfast - we would have staid anyway. Psycologically that is better - but anyway there was a fine little bakery around the corner, so... But all this are small things - it is a splendid hotel nearby U-bahn etc.

This is a great hotel. I chose it because it was the first hotel I have ever seen with so many 10/10 reviews and I was not disappointed. The rooms are very large with lots of natural daylight. Very close to city centre, yet peaceful too - wide street but almost no traffic outside; quiet wine garden in the courtyard. U-bahn is only a block away, Potsdamer Platz and Unter den Linden about 10 minutes walk. Smart and efficient staff, very friendly. You can get a cheaper place but this hotel is worth the extra price. Restaurant is small with lmited choices, but lots of other places within 10 minutes' walk. Italian restaurant around the corner on Charlottenstrasse is good value with 3 courses plus a beer for around 15-20 Euro/person

This is a wonderful hotel. Everyone worked hard to make sure we were taken care of. The rooms were beautiful and clean and modern. It is two blocks from Check Point Charlie. There really isn't an old town in Berlin, so you aren't really able to stay in a castle. But it's very easy to get to all of the historical sights by either walking, subway or bus. What a great spot! Literally a block from Checkpoint Charlie, an easy walk to museums and good shops and restaurants, and transport. Try Entrecote on the same street as the hotel for great French food. Gallerie Lafayette on Friedrichstrasse has a basement full of amazing food and drinks at reasonable prices. Friedrichstrasse is also a great strip of shops for clothes, souvenirs etc. The staff at the hotel were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Seemed to speak many languages, including English. Windows opened in my room, so fresh air was in abundant supply.Internet facilities in the lobby. I did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. The rooms were wonderfully spacious and the staff were very helpful. We had four rooms and one of our party had a room on the first floor and found the noise from the marquee downstairs a bit disturbing. We were made welcome at the hotel and enjoyed our stay very much. the multilingual staff were welcoming and friendly. only thing about our stay was the cost of breakfast (18 euros) which was not included, we skipped the hotel breakfast and went to a small coffee shop virtually right at checkpoint charlie, good morning rolls, good coffee (lavazza) and good prices. the hotel is very near to checkpoint charlie which is very touristy. the hotel seems to have a mainly business clientel. overall i'd recommend this hotel unreservedly.

Booked on Venere after great reviews from other travellers. My room was huge and very clean of the highest standards. I walked each day to the majortiy of the city (more East side but if you dont mind a walk it's not too much to walk to Tiergarten and the zoo area (great shops round there including the largest shopping centre in Europe - it's amazing and worht dedicating a few hours and euro's to itself). The hotel is just off of Friedrichstrabe where you can easily navigate most the city from. I caught the train from Sconefeld Airport with much ease to Alexanderplatz, then caught the U2 train (red line)to Stadmitte. From here it took no more than 5 minutes to walk south down Friedrichstrabe and left into Shutzenstrabe. I went to Berlin initially to see friends and family, to shop for records and to see some art galleries and antiques markets. All of which exceeded my expectations and I have found myself needing to go back as there was too much to see in one sitting. Whether this is your first trip to Berlin or not, this is a great place to start from each day with most of the main attractions on your doorstep. Berlin is the sort of place where you're only going to want your hotel for sleeping in at the end of a long day and for that this hotel is perfect. Also to note on other reviews: the breakfast is a little expensive (but it is a buffet - make the most of your money!!!) and there are plenty of places along Friedrichstrabe to eat in the morning but I did have the Mercure breakfast and it was very good. With regards to the privacy of the showers, I'm not too sure what some people mean? It is a walk in shower with no door as such but you can always close or lock the bathroom door if you are that bothered! I used the Timeout Travel guide which I recommend, it would be really useful for long or short stays. For vinyl go to 'Mr Dead and Mrs Free' for sneakers see 'Solebox.de' Tuss/Ciao/Bye

This has been my first stay at the Mercure Hotel Checkpoint Charlie. The hotel is centrally located in a quiet street off the Friedrichstrasse. There is good access to public transport (subway), but I used the opportunity to walk on most occasions. The hotel is very clean and service is friendly. The modern rooms are amazingly spacious and well equipped. I had brought quite a bit of work with me and benefited from a large desk, fast internet access etc. I would recommend the hotel to both business travelers as well as tourists. Berlin first-timers will find the friendly staff very helpful.

The hotel quality in excess of what we expected. Very friendly and helpful staff. Super location for a Berlin visit, 100 metres from Checkpoint Charlie, and 150 metres from Stadtmitte U Bahn station with ready access to key U Bahn lines. Excellent restaurants offering value nearby, with a number of small eateries nearby. 100 metres to high quality shopping on Friedrichstrasse. Hotel bar very nice and welcoming, high standards of service and an excellent Riesling available. Cannot recommend the hotel highly enough.

Phenominal hotel!!! The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. The family rooms were like mini apartments. I highly recommend this hotel. Location was excellent. Couldn't have asked for a better hotel and stay. Best one yet since living in Europe for over a year!! Breakfast was expensive, but under 11 they eat free so it worked out well for us and over 11 is 1/2 price.

The welcome and service at this hotel were second to none. The manager helped us to make meal bookings and nothing seemed too much trouble. We stayed in double rooms which were extremely spacious and it was excellent value for money. It was quite easy to get into the centre of Berlin.

Had booked through venere.com thinking I wouldn't be charged until I stayed there, but was told that their fixed rate package requires payment upfront, so do be careful if you book as well. But once at the hotel, the helpful staff, lovely breakfast, clean rooms and handy location made us glad we stayed there.

Excellent hotel with wonderful staff. From the moment I entered I was greeted with a warm welcome and the staff were very friendly throughout my stay. The room was excellent, very clean and, as a single traveller, more than adequate (double bed and a single bed, coffee table, writing desk, separate loo and shower rooms etc). The hotel bar was cosy with a good selection of drinks available and a snack menu, all very reasonably priced, and a well stocked and free jukebox. My only niggle was that it was not non-smoking. Very central location, off a main shopping street (Friedrichstrasse), and within a few minutes of a number of central underground stations. Some restaurants and cafes nearby. Was surprised to see massage parlours on either side, but no indication that this was a 'sleazy' area of the city, just an example of the cultural differences between UK and mainland Europe.

Great hotel - really fantastic location and the room was incredible - not sure whether they put us in the wrong one - but we booked a "cheap double" and landed up in a 2 floor apartment with a 12 seater dining table, lounge, 2 bathrooms and a 2m bed! Staff were helpful and friendly and the bar and wellness centre great. Definitely recommend.

We really loved this hotel - stylish and edgy modern Italian design, huge family suite with closed-in balconies on either side, quiet but central - a minute away from Checkpoint Charlie, close to Unter den Linden. Right on the site of the former Berlin Wall so East meets West feel. Ideal for myself, husband and boys of 9 and 11 - they had their own bedroom off a central lobby in the suite with separate bathroom and loo, so we got some peace and quiet! The staff were very helpful, and all the extras (we used many of them eg room service, parking, laundry service, bar etc) were suprisingly cheap. Breakfast is more expensive but children under 12 pay half price so good value. Booked through Venere and got a great deal. My sister and her family have booked it for spring break.

The lobby has free flow of apple, which is very pleasant, as we are walking outside whole day and felt happy to eat the apple once we came back to the hotel. Keep it up.

First time at this hotel and we were so impressed. Normally avoid chains but this was excellent. Excellent location, good accommodation and absolutely brilliant staff who were helpful and genuine in all areas of the hotel. Would definitely stay again for a city break.
