Your travel guide to Louvre Vendome
Whether or not they are fans of Dan Brown’s novel "The Da Vinci Code", visitors to Paris will love staying in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris, near the Louvre and Place Vendome. Travelers needn’t be on a secret mission or involved in dangerous intrigue to get a thrill from staying in the oldest arrondissement in Paris. Hotels near Place Vendome are especially attractive to history buffs, who will enjoy exploring parts of Paris known to the likes of Julius Caesar and Napoleon.
Art at the Louvre and beyond.
The Louvre is Paris’ most famous museum, but the 1st Arrondissement holds other museums, gardens and attractions as well. Stroll through Tuileries Garden, soak in the history of Paris at Place Vendome or take in live entertainment at Comedie-Francaise. A number of smaller museums including a wax museum in Forum des Halles, the Musee du Barreau dedicated to the history and practice of law, and Les Arts Decoratifs featuring decorative arts will also delight visitors.
Enjoy Place Vendome on foot.
Although cab fares are cheap in Paris, the 1st Arrondissement is easily navigable on foot. Strolling through Tuileries Garden on the way to the Louvre provides a much better view than does an automobile ride or public transportation. Historical sites at Place Vendome can be enjoyed on foot as well, and special-interest museums are never more than a easy walk away from excellent accommodations near the Louvre. Leave the cab rides for excursions to other parts of the city.
See more at the Louvre.
To see more during your time at the Louvre, skip the lines by booking a guided tour or purchasing a Paris Pass. Guests who do this spend more time soaking in the sights and less time waiting for a peek at their favorite works of art. Don’t forget to do some shopping in the stunning Louvre complex during your stay. Some unassuming shops hold the greatest treasures, so be sure to stop and peruse Bruno’s spice collection at Epicerie De Bruno.
