This was my third visit to Venice. The hotel was exactly what I expected. The bed very comfortable, staff very pleasant, helpful and English speaking. All areas perfectly clean. I particularly like the area the hotel is in for exploring the 'Real' Venice. We walked from the bus terminal in about 15 minutes, and the train station is even closer. We were given free maps and good information regarding water buses.

The hotel was as described and fairly easy to find, a good location as only 15 minutes to Rialto bridge & 20 to St. Marks square. The staff were very helpfull & spoke English, for the price paid I was very happy with the hotel about the only thing I could say against it was sometimes the water in the shower in the morning was tepid. Should I return to Venice for a budget hotel I would definately stay here again. Overall a very nice little hotel with very friendly staff. Reccomended.

Great hotel in Venezia. Good location at 10 minutes walk from the train station. CHarming surroundings and you can reach anywhere by foot. Staff was very helpful and even offered free espresso one morning. The room looked like a room from the history book. Charming. Would absolutely recommend this hotel for people travelling to venezia. Good quality for a good price.

We only saw our room, which was spacious, nicely decorated, clean, and the marble floor was heated at strategic points - both sides of the bed and where you put your feet when using the ensuite toilet. Very comforting in this chilly April. We knew there was no wifi, but the phone signal was good. Cheerful helpful staff too. We stayed 5 nights (no breakfasts) in April 2013.

The hotel is quite difficult to locate. There is no wifi or free internet service available. It is quite a walk from the train station and the bus station. If you travel with heavy luggage it might be a problem as you have to cross a bridge from the train station or two bridges from the bus station. Not so good deal for a small hotel.

Nothing exceptional, staff were ok. They can speak English quite well so no problem with communication. Room was really small specially the single room. For us Asians, it was shocking to see what seems like a toilet bowl inside the room just below the bed without any partition ir some sort of cover.Pardon my innocence, but i have never encountered such a thing in our hotel rooms in asia. Nevertheless, that doesn't bothered me at all because I was out most of the time. Had a great time in Venice though.

The bathroom is very old-fashioned and need to be improved and repaired. The room is spacious but badly furnished and poorly isolated from noise. The breakfast is poor, both in quantity and quality. The kindness and willing attitude of the staff cannot counterbalance the overall poor quality of the service, especially on considering the price.

We stayed in 2 different hotels in Venice and have to give that one a bad value for money rating. The hotel room was crappy old and cheaply furnished (broken chipboard made cupboard, doors from shower you cannot close, mold, electricity cables dangling from the ceiling, broken telefone. The staff was friendly though. Go to another place!

Staff wasn't great. Breakfast wasn't anything special. Some stale bread and coffee. It's at least 30 minute walk from St Mark's square. Don't forget there is now an additional tax to be paid in Venice which isn't included in the price. I paid 110 euros per night and that was way too much for what we got. Go somewhere else if you find something in this price range.

Poor price/quality ratio: rooms are cleaned everyday but not perfectly, no Wi-Fi connection available, not enough breakfast tables, poor quality of breakfast. Hotel well-situated in a nice neighbourhood. Extremely expensive for the quality of service offered (which seems to be usual in Venice).

When we arrived we were moved to another location that was another 10 min walk. With my mother and both of us carrying back packs it wasn't the best location having to walk more. I selected the place online because of the location so I wasn't very happy with that. There was quite the smell coming from the bathroom so we had to close all the drains but this could be something in Venice not specifically to the hotel.

Enjoyable stay, hotel owner and staff were friendly and spoke decent English (the owner was particulaly competant). Open til late each night. Room was cleaned well each day. Breakfast was quite limited (bread and jam and drink), but sufficient - plenty of nearby shops too. No elavator to upper floors though. Checkout is at 10.30, not 11am, but they'll store your luggage in a room until you need it. Easy to find (on a major street). Overall, relaxing stay and enjoyable, a little expensive but it's not bad for Venice! Recommended.

We stayed in a Triple bed room for two nights. The room was rather small and so was the shower area. It was difficult for three people to walk into the room without walking into each other. Major disappointment was breakfast. On the website it states continental buffet breakfast, in reality you get a cup of coffee, juice, a packet of toasted bread biscuit and a roll with jam and butter. NOTHING buffet and very poor quality food served.

This was the first time I stayed at the Leonardo, a weekend filler following a business meetings outside Venice. The hotel is conveniently situated on an alley off a busy pedestrian area, sufficiently out of ear shot of the tourist throng. For a small 2-star hotel, this was not bad at all. I would recommend this hotel to anyone on a medium budget staying for a few days. The staff members were very courteous and helpful. The rooms and furniture are tastefully apppointed in Venetian style. There is no internet access or air conditioning (being early April, I did not need the latter but I expect it could become uncomfortably warm in the Summer).

Having not been to Venice before and arriving after a long train journey, my priority was on close and easy location to the train station. The Leonardo is an easy 15 - 20 minute stroll from the station. However not having our bearings, we opted to take the Vaperetto boat N1 along 2 stops and got off at "San Marcuola" stop as we had heavy bags. The hotel was very easy to find and only a 2 minute walk from there. (Purchase a boat pass for the length of your stay at the jetty "ferrovia" at the main train station) The Leonardo was clean, and welcoming, but very basic and priced accordingly. best described as a 2 star hotel. Only major drawback is no internet access, which means using the internet cafe around the corner which cost a fortune! 4euro for 15 minutes. The room was basic, wire sprung beds, compact and functional. No complaints, we wanted a clean, budget hotel, great staff, well located, and thats exactly what we got. Very Happy

We were a bit disappointed that a room at the Leonardo was not available when we arrived for check-in and were taken to a sister B&B. The room at the Antica Raffineria was large and clean. The bed could have used a mattress pad as it was very firm and lumpy and a light at the door into the building would be helpful for key access & security. The location was very quiet and had easy access to the main walkways. The young man that checked us in (name?) and Roberto were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was typical European continental fare with rolls and coffee/chocolate. We would recommend this as a reasonable wallet friendly hotel.

The hotel is well situated if you have luggage - a 10min walk from train station with only one bridge. Serviceable, friendly staff, large rooms, bit loud, could use an overhaul but clean. Don't go expecting romance, but the price was good for such an expensive city.

Location is excellent but quality of room is very sub-standard for pricing. This is the most I have paid for any room in Italy and only got a shoebox of a room with no air-con or ensuite and a hostel-type room I haven't stayed in since as a student! Breakfast is very nominal and includes essentially coffee and lots of biscuits which is not very filling. The actual entrance looks very nice, the service cannot be faulted and the location is close to the station and handy to most things in Venice but comes at a hefty price for a substandard room. You'll have to bargain quality for location to stay here.

If you're an American like us, I don't recommend you go here to this hotel. For a few Euros more, you will find much better accomodations. Venice hotels (in the old town) is perhaps the most expensive in all Italy, as far as budget to medium range rooms go. I suggest you do not make reservations at all, especially if you are coming outside of summer months. There are so many hotels you will pass and wish you could have known about on your way to this secluded hotel. In Venice, you don't come for seclusion, but to be in the middle of it all.

Hairdryers and fans provided in the rooms which was a nice touch. Corridors do echo a lot so some noise may be heard. We were expected, and were greeted by name before identifying ourselves, and in English. Then, as one of our rooms was ready (and this was before the occupancy time of 11.00), we were offered immediate access. Within five minutes our second room was ready also, so instead of leaving our luggage in the luggage room and returning after 11.00, we were able relax in our rooms at about 10.00.. Before leaving the hotel to venture forth into Venice, the receptionist provided us with a map, which he marked up for us showing the location of the hotel in relation to the tourist attractions he recommened. He advised us also about getting a day ticket for the waterbus. In the event, this saved us 15 euros as a family. The only criticism we had of the accommodation was that there was insufficient hot water available for showers - I would say that we never complained about this, so it's possible the staff might have been able to have done something. Other than that the hotel staff treated us couteously, and helpfully, sometimes anticipating our requests (e.g. when we wanted to use the luggage room on our last day). We should like to return to Venice one day, and would happily choose Hotel Leonardo again.

The proprietor was very kind and helpful. The hotel was budget but fine for the price considering how expensive Venice is! It was clean and quiet. One thing was bad though - the breakfast. The hotel should dispense with breakfast altogether as they served up very meagre bread rolls and tea/coffee. The rolls were insubstantial and small. A few streets away from the hotel is a busy street with many cafes. I found an excellent and inexpensive Italian patisserie which served great croissants and coffee - much better place for breakfast.

Staff was anxious to please, very friendly and helpful and did well to make my stay comfortable. Hotel is quiet and with windows closed, noise from the adjacent garden restaurant could not be heard. The light breakfast is served by the cordial staff. The 2 rolls/toast with butter and jam, a glass of juice and a coffee was a bit too small, but there are plenty of grocers and bakeries nearby to top up with fruit and other foods. Leonardo is in a good district where shopkeepers are more helpful, prices a bit better and life is less "touristy". I hope to return to the Leonardo!

I was traveling alone, had a large room (#6) on the first floor next to a restroom. The room was large, but the walls paper thin. I could hear everyone using the bathroom next door, the people in the courtyard outside, people in the hall. I didn't mind so much because I wake early anyway. The bed was a "double", basically 2 steel frame beds pushed together. I would not want one of these if I was a couple! Breakfast is a hot drink, bottled orange juice, rolls with butter and jam. It's adequate for getting you going in the morning, but not for anyone who needs a "big" breakfast. Otherwise a great hotel for singles. I'm a travel writer, so I've been in a LOT of hotels, and this one is worth the price, great location, lovely staff, very clean.

The staff was knowledgeable and welcoming. The rooms were neat, the sheets and towels were clean, but there were some cobwebs and dusty services in some parts of the room. The breakfast was basic, but a nice coffee was included.

We liked the hotel very much, all the stuff are friendly and english-speakers. The rooms are clean and in very romantic and arcaic style, as the hotel on the hole is. It is rather smal, but to us it was attractive. There is no elevator? but we were helped with our luggage by the receptionist. The breakfast consisted of the croissant? bread and very tasty coffe (try capucchino, it is the most tasty). On the hole the balance beetwen the price and the quality is optiaml. We stayed in Venice for 7 days, and these days we liked very much.

Firstly this hotel is overpriced , but then again its in venice. The directions to the hotels were good, we arrived there withing 10 minutes of leaving the train station. The rooms were clean and had clean linen. We had a triple room, the decor is very mature. The bathroom and shower are very small, in fact we had to enter the shower sideways its so small. The breakfast was not to fancy but it was ok. The staff is friendly and were always willing to help. This looked like a family run business. The atmosphere was lovely, it was close to most amenities we needed. I would not stay in this hotel again only because of the shower and the plugs, which stopped working at some point and i could not charge my phone!!!

Got a great deal on the Leonardo, considering it was in Venice itself and within walking distance of most of the city. Paid 180 euro for 3 nights in a double room in July, shared bathroom. When we arrived we were told we could be upgraded free of charge to a room in a separate branch of the hotel about a 5-10 min walk away (not on the main walkway but actually in a lovely quiet area, still close by to everything), but it had a en-suite bathroom and air conditioning, which was by FAR worth the slightly extra walk (I had booked a room with a shared bathroom to keep costs down). Breakfast basically consisted of bread rolls, butter, jam and cups of tea and coffee, but seeing as most other hotels that I looked at that were more expensive didn't include breakfast or charged about 8 euros each for it, it was better than nothing and more than welcomed. The staff were friendly and spoke good English, one gentleman pulled my case to the other hotel, gave us a free map of the city and showed us places to see and eat at, and let us leave our bags at the hotel during our last day in Venice. The rooms were clean, modern, quiet and cool. It’s not the Ritz but considering the price a very good deal indeed!

abbiamo alloggiato nella depandance dell'hotel, all'Antica Raffineria. La camera singola era troppo piccola, mentre la tripla era fin troppo grande, visto che in realtà era una quadrupla. Comunque era molto pulito.

The hotel met my needs (twin bed, small desk, sink, closet and window). There was a shared bathroom for the floor. Breakfast was not very substantial (a couple of roles, coffee and juice). The hotel was a short walk from the train station (there is one bridge with a ramp for those of you that have luggage). The hotel is close to the waterbus stop, restaurants, shops, grocery and there is a market on the weekend. I would recommend buying a pass for the waterbuses. Each ride is 6.50 euro and a 3-day pass is 33euro. If you are interested in the islands, you will have to take a boat (13euro.

I stayed for a few days as a solo traveler, and the hotel was quite adequate. The room was clean, the shared bathroom was clean (and usually unoccupied) and the shower enclosure was actually among the larger I encountered in Italy (not saying much). Breakfast of two rolls and packaged toast was unexciting but the cappuccino was fine and there were several little bars with decent pastries nearby. Walls were thin so earplugs were helpful for sleeping. Certainly wouldn't stay for any romantic vacations but fine for a night or two.
