Hotel Reviews Gallia (Le Meridien)

Grand hotel in perfect location for us next to the stazione centrale. Our only complaint was that the maid stripped our bed while we were at breakfast and still using the room. Very odd, as the reception personnel agreed, but we never received a satisfactory explanation as to why.

Great corner room, large oval layout, very unique. Not so pretty scenery out window but that's hard to come by in Milan anyway. Great movie selection, extra large bathroom. Imperfect paint job on walls, some a bit dirty. Extra friendly staff. Large old-style atmosphere in public areas. Huge lobby. Great service. Next to train station and taxi stand.

Biggest bathtub in the world. Extremely nice bathroom. Very high ceilings on room. A bit old in terms of finishings. TV was far from bed. Strong air conditioning with dubious control. Very expensive minibar items. Good film selection (like all Starwood hotels). Very friendly and interesting staff. Grand-hotel-style stay.

Very poor service. First, they charged me twice for the same room and blocked much more than declared on my credit card. Second, some of the switches for light did not work at the apartment. Third, they provided only one bathrobe for 2 persons. On the other hand, very comfortable location (close to all city attractions and communication nods) and stylish rooms.

It was a 5-star, now a 3-star after years of neglect. The pictures are deceiving. The bathroom had moldy wallpaper that was peeling off the wall. The glass was not cleaned and there were people's oily head prints on the window. The furniture was scratched and sometimes missing knobs. The management is running it into the ground. The carpets need to be replaced in the entire building as well. I left my jacket there and they wanted to charge me 70 Euros to mail it to me. I had to negotiate a lower price. It is also next to the train station which is the most dangerous part of Milano as I have learned. An ambulance is parked near by and leaves every 30 - 60 minutes with someone injured in a fight etc. I went out to take some pictures and four guys started to hassle me for money and cigarettes.

Very stuffy service - check in, check out, each of the concierge. Definitely not customer service driven. However, the hotel was beautiful. the rooms were luxe like a typical starwood. Also, if you are coming in on the train, the location does not get better. Only walked a couple minutes from Centrale, and there is the hotel. The area around the hotel is quiet, seems more business friend.y (I was only there on a weekend) but still managed to find some "cool" hangout places that the stylish set hang out. Was excited to run into them. Walked to Duomo from hotel - and enjoyed the walk. Not too far for people who are in shape and like to explore by foot.

The hotel room was front facing and although building work was going on at the railway station it wasn't too noisy. The air conditioning wasn't very effective in the room. Whilst at first glance the bathroom was clean and spacious closer inspection revealed surfaces peeling away around the bath. The hotel food was tasty but very expensive for the range and quality on offer. The concierge was very helpful and booked a table at Joia, a michelin guide vegetarian restaurant, one metro stop away from the hotel. Following an excellent holiday we were upset to be ripped off by the taxi hailed by the hotel doorman outside the hotel who took us part way to the wrong airport and upon being told took double the time to turn back to the correct aiport. This incurred a fare of 70 euros!! This marred our impression of Milan residents who up until then had impressed us with their friendly and helpful attitude.

I liked the history of the place and the closeness to the station. We were upgraded to a wonderful room.

The room was not ready at 12:00 and we had to wait for more than 1 hour. As I was on a business trip, I had asked for room change, but without any success and finally, we have left the luggage and return late in the evening. Even then, I expected (as 5L hotel) to find the luggage in the room, but there were not. Also, during the check out, a lot of people was queuing with only 1 receptionist and we had to wait for approximately 30minutes.

Excellent hotel in a very central location adjacent to the central railway station and a metro station. Very close to main tourist and shopping area of Milan. Rooms well soundproofed. Bed comfortable with good quality mattress.

A staff member of the hotel entered our room while we were in it without knocking. He then closed the door quickly once realizing we were in there. When I came out to see who came in and asked the man in the hallway what he wanted he lied to me about some plastic bag lying in front of the door. I called reception less than a minute later and he was already there telling his excuse to the man at reception. After this incident I did not feel comfortable in the hotel. Yes, they do have a safe in the room, but I don't like it that hotel staff come into the room to snoop around. I wanted to complain on Sunday morning when checking out, but felt that it was useless since it was the same two guys.

The room was fab! spacious, spotless, lovely view and exactly as i had seen it in the pictures. The hotel staff (receptionists can work on being a bit more friendly) however apart from that the hotel exceeded my expectation and i loved staying there.
