The localization is perfect for going to the "isole eolie", the islands-salina, lipari, stromboli, volcano. The boats leave just in front to the hotel AND THE VIEW OF THE SEA WITH THE "Madonnina" IS WONDERFUL.

The best thing about this hotel is its central location. We had misgivings about dealing with people at the reception after reading other travelers' reviews, but had a few pleasant surprises. We got a room on the 3rd floor with a sea view at no extra charge, just as we had requested in advance. When we shortened our stay from 3 nights to 2, they agreed to that, even though we'd booked for 3 nights through Venere and it was too late to change that, which meant that the hotel absorbed the commission they had to pay to Venere because of our cancellation. Some of the people at the reception were really nice and knowledgeable, but not all. On one of the days, there was a woman there who spoke only Italian. When we managed to ask her about a hop-on-hop-off tourist bus around Messina (which turned out to have a stop 50 m across from the hotel), she had no idea and made no effort to find out. We also had a problem with the toilet flush, which broke down, and after it got fixed, worked for a couple of times and broke down again. Worse still, there was a hair clog in the bathtub that didn't let the water to go down. To sum up, this hotel is convenient enough if you are making a stopover in Messina for a night or two, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay.

The hotel is located right at the port where the ships leave to the aeolic islands (Lipari, Vulcano, Stromboli...). Near the hotel are NO parking possibilities. The style of the hotelis the 70ies look, the breakfast is good. Dinner is offered optional but to rather high prices. The staff is not really friendly but rather arrogant. Some of them make jokes on the guests andlaugh about them.

The Messina railway station is about 1 km from the hotel.
