I arrived at the hotel about 8pm and the lady who greeted me had no english and I had little german. My daughter arrived the next evening but could not gain access to the building as the buzzer at the main gate did not work properly and she was not able to communicate with me in the apt to let her in. She finished work late so it was inappropriate to have her waiting outside in the dark. Also there was no soap in the bathroom, so we had to go out and buy our own . These little things should be provided for the price we paid. The young woman who worked at the desk, Danya, tho was excellent and very helpful, especially when I needed a charger for my cell phone.. I had come to see my daughter perform at the Tanzcentre in the Museum quarter, so it was a special event for our family and I wanted to be close by.

Lovely room, in a great location. Simple but nice breakfast. Room clean and comfortable. Would stay here again. A little hard to find, but not too difficult

Location is perfect. Building is very nice. Web site doesn't give enough enformation on extra charges. If you rent apartment, breakfast is not included in the price. Final cleaning 25 Euro is also not mentioned anywhere. Furniture is qiet old, but, in general, location and spirit of Vienna compensate all small surprises.

The hotel is located in an old building, and accomodations are simple but fine. Location is excellent, close to the heart of Vienna at walking distance, as well as public transports. Just take attention at night since the reception closes after 20:00 and you will be by yourself to open the building and the hotel entrance doors (they give you a set of keys of course!). Breakfast is simple but enough and at fair price. We found the hotel pricey for the type of accomodation, but it seems to be compatible with prices in central Vienna.

On arrival we accepted the offer of the larger room, allowing single beds for the group of four elderly men. We stayed 4 nights in this very central location.

A very comfortable and extremely well situated first-class pension. Spacious rooms well seviced, well-stocked buffet breakfast, helpful and competent English-speaking staff. Very quiet and interesting area of Vienna close to St Stephans Platz, with a number of very good, average-priced small restaurants close by. A short walk from Stephanplatz U-bahn made it ideal for sightseeing. A perfect place to stay. We will return !

This is a great place to stay in Vienna. We stayed in a very quiet apartment in centrally located classical apartment building. The rooms were very clean and very generous in size. We loved it and would definitely stay there again.

Stayed in 55 sq m apt with another couple. Great location! Within short walking distance of all attractions and city center. Services not offered with apt's but found nothing lacking. Kitchen was fully stocked so that meals could be made, if desired. Apt was quiet - no problem sleeping. Suggestion: a small sofa in living room would have been nice so that second couple does not have to open/close the convertible bed each day and would provide a place to sit and converse. Found Vienna a very friendly city and we felt very safe walking around at all hours. Would recommend Lumes if you want to get away from the typical big hotel experience.

We stayed in the 1 bedroom appartment (sleeps 4) for two nights over Christmas 2008. The hotel is old but had interesting character. Unfortunately the double bed was suffering from its age though resulting in us sagging towards the middle - we were tempted to put the matress on the floor. The hotel staff were helpful with another bedding problem we had - the sofa in the second room converted to a double bed which wasn't really suitable for our teenage children to sleep in. I had asked for a twin setup in our booking email which wasn't applicable on inspection but the hotel accomodated our need by also providing a single room in the hotel for our use at no extra charge. We borrowed the matress and bedding from this room for our stay and used it on the floor to satify our need.

Booked a suite and a single room. Single room was fine but only had a small inner-facing window so a bit gloomy. Suite was very good; a bit wierd furnishings but lots of room & had windows on 3 sides. Great location, short stroll from centre of town & with cafes & restuarants practically on the doorstep.

This was exactly the type of place I was looking for. It is very convenient for all the tourist attractions most are within walking distance, even for my mum who has had a kidney transplant. It's a small quiet pension which makes you feel like you are staying in someone's apartment rather than a big anonymous hotel. The main lady on reception didn't have much English, but when I am in a different country I would always try and speak that language. There was however a lovely young girl who had very good english and helped when I got stuck with my german. We had a triple room which was very good value. Although some single travellers we met felt their charges were expensive. Breakfast was excellent. There are various cafes, bars and restaurant very close, including one just beside the building with a really nice, accommodating owner. Ideal for a late night glass of wine or hot chocolate. If you are used to the Ritz, it's not for but I would definitely recommend it and would stay there again.

A highly recommended place to stay. We stayed in a delightful triple room overlooking the quiet street of Weihburggase. The room itself was very clean and very generous in size. This wonderful Pension is situated on one of the floors within a very fine classical apartment building. It is centrally located - within very short walking distances to public transport and the main sights of central Vienna. A small criticism is the creaking floors and noise from adjacent rooms. However, this is only a minor point as Lumes & Co has one of the finest services we have experienced in an accommodation of this calibre in Europe. (We travel frequently and this was one of the 17 hotels and pensions we stayed at during this trip.) For instance, they helped us locate and then arranged for a taxi to transport a camera that we had left at a cafe at Schonbrunn Palace, back to our room. This was all done in a limited space of time (during Palace after hours and we were leaving Vienna very early the following day). To sum up, we were very happy with Pension Lumes & Co and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

This is such a sweet quaint charming place to stay. Really fun breakfasts meeting folks from all over. Very convienent to see Vienna and use the rail system. We liked to go to the little Italian restaurant across the street and down a bit. Wine bar next to hotel a nice last stop in the evening.

The only thing we wished for during our stay was air conditioning. Coming from the US, we're used to them especially that Vienna was going through a bad heat spell during our stay (38deg C.)

I stayed with my family for two nights in April at Lumes & Co. The apartment which was provided for us was spacious & clean. Further, the lady at reception spent long time for explaining the hot spots in vienne with so kind manner. I recommend Lumes & Co. to anybody travelling there.

My husband and I stayed at Lumes for 2 nights in September 06. Our double bedroom was spacious & clean with a nice ensuite. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Despite the staff speaking limited English, they were friendly - especially the lovely lady who prepared the breakfast. Location is very close to St Stefansplatz Metro in a quiet street. We LOVED it and would stay there again.

There was a slight language problem, since I knew no German and they weren't very comfortable with English. But we managed. The breakfast could have been better. But the room was excellent. I shared with two of my friends and there were two single beds and one single bed in a mini-room of its own! This was a vast improvement on what I had experienced before. The bathroom was spacious and clean. They kept towels and toilet rolls stocked pretty well. And it is bang in the city centre. A minute from Stephansdom. So no complaints!

The breakfast was delightful and plentiful, the hotel offered the opportunity to come and go as they pleased at any hour of the day or night. The location was superb; very central but tucked away in a quiet side street. Tea and coffeee facilities in the room would have completed an otherwise excellent break. One thing to be aware of is that the staff have only limited english, but this was not too much of a problem. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or to recommend it to others.

I did not receive the confirmation of reservation from Venere.com. In the end I emailed and faxed Lumes & Co direct. The email address was not answered and in fairness to Lumes it was a generic address for Austrian accommodation. I received a prompt return fax with an acknowledgment of the reservation from Lumes & Co. The hotel itself was brilliantly located in the heart of Vienna. Most of the things we wished to see were 5 to 10 minutes walk away. The U-bahn was close and very convenient. The room was kept spotless during our stay despite our excess baggage which seemed to be strewn from one end of it to the other, and our hanging our clothes line in a little balcony which overlooked the light-well in the centre of the building. The staff were charming and friendly and the breakfast was very adequate. This hotel appears to cater to an older leisure traveller and the staff appear to greet many of their guests as old friends. I cannot wait to return.

It was wonderful because the location was absolutely excellent. The lodging was fine, though the lobby was horrible, the very small rooms were sufficient and clean. Bathroom was great. There was a problem with the language barrier, but that's always fun. Would stay there again, particularly in warm weather. Have any deals for me??? :-]
