Palazzo Guardi - Venice

Beautiful room and surroundings. Very narrow street to hotel entrance but typical of many in Venice. Very good breakfast with yogurt, fruit, cereals cheese etc. and coffee. Bread selection not the best - little buns only. Quirky elevator - have to hold button down all the way to floor.

As most hotels in Venice, a bit difficult to locate but it is exactly as shown on the map. short walk from either the Accademia or Zattere vaparetto stops. Coming from the Train Station or Piazzale Roma parking it is quickest to take the 51 or 61 lines to the Zattere stop. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Best to wait and get a capuccino or espresso once you leave. Booked a room for three and my son had a separate room in our suite & we only paid the 3 person rate for a room. In my favorite sestiere in Venice (Dorsoduro), only a couple of block from the Academia Museum & Bridge. Great location!

We were very lucky: I had asked for a twin bed room and they kindly assigned us a suite made up of two double rooms and a bathroom!

We found a wonderful restaurant with sicilian kitchen "A beccafico" a campo santo stefano, just on the other side of ponte accademia. the time at the hotel was really fine, the suite was spacious (especially for Venice)

We chose this hotel on the ratings given by other visitors, we were not disappointed. The location was fantastic which suited our needs. We were staying in the annexe which was 5 minutes walk from the main hotel though we had no reason to go there except to pay the bill. The only criticism would be the breakfast, coffee not good and the rest a bit limited. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel and would be happy to return there one day. The staff were friendly and helpful and it is in an ideal location for accessing the Grand Canal from Academia.

The hotel is in a great location on a side canal and right above the best bacaro (wine bar) in Venice with wonderful cicchetti (Venetian snacks). The hotel is very close to the vaporetto stop at the Accademia bridge. The Zattere, the Basilica di San Marco, Piazza San Marco, Gallerie dell'Accademia, lots of other wonderful things to see and great restaurants are nearby or within reasonable walking distances. The public area where breakfast was served was right outside our room which wasn't the best situation but didn't really pose a problem.

Very happy with the position and the room. we were in the annexe. Taverna San Trovaso was our favorite eating place - immediately to right as you come out of the annexe.

My husband and I did not know Venice at all and were unsure of the quality to expect. However, our room in the annexe of Hotel Palazzo Guardi was spacious and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. The hotel is in an excellent position for the water buses both on the Grand Canal and from the Zattere. There are lots of excellent places to eat along the Zattere in the evening. Altogether an extremely enjoyable week.

Excellent location, enormous immaculate room, very pleasant and helpful staff, not opulent breakfast for those looking for large buffet, but adequate. i would recommend this place highly.

Nice rooms and the baby-bed was ready, when we arrived! Especially the location of the hotel is great! Breakfast is OK. We would go there again...

I was put in the new facility they have, which was a few minutes walking from the actual hotel. Like some hotels in Venice the entrance for the main hotel is in a very narrow street and can be a bit obscure. Otherwise, everything was great.

The hotel is well located and the staff are very helpful. The room is spacious, but there was some issues regarding maintenance (Water closed was leaking). Breakfast is very poor.

Small quite hotel with 2 parts in different buidings (150 m one from another), both very well situated. We were in the one without reception but for us it was not inconvenient.

Very helpful staff, had a lot of contact before arrival, perfect handling of all our wishes. Rooms were perfect, very good location, close to all sights. It was perfect trip for our familiy.

This was a great hotel. I wish we had a little better directions on how to find the hotel. We walked from the Piazalle Roma (Bus station). Initially we had a hard time finding the hotel. We found the academia and then walked away from the grand canal until we saw a small sign on the building pointing down a narrow alley. The hotel was on the left side not well lite but we found it. Our room was actually in another building facing the canal. It was a junior suite with a canal view and easy to find. Beautiful wall coverings, pullout couch and big bathroom. The breakfast was wonderful, the hot croissants, fresh coffee, juice and wide variety of cereal was great. I would definitely stay there again. It will be easier next time because I know where they are located. If you go be sure to eat at "Ristorante San Trovaso". It was right next to the hotel and had excellent food. We ate their 3 times during our 5 day stay.

We loved this hotel. The room was huge and the location was fabulous. There's a great wine shop around the corner where we ate appetizers. It was easy to access Venice and our hotel was never far away. The only downside was that the walls are thin and the people upstairs were noisy till midnight.

Good location to explore from. 10 rooms located around a common area used for breakfast. good breakfast, but lots of prepackaged food, mostly German brands. We were disappointed that our upgrade to the "canal view" was a room in which you had to lean halfway out the window to even see a small side canal. Somewhat "stiff" interaction with reception staff.

The good first: the staff was very nice and were helpful in answering any questions we had, our room was huge, the bathroom and room were clean, and the shower was hot. The bad: we had a mosquito infestation in our room and when we started trying to kill them (as there were about 7 or 8 of them standing on the ceiling at bedtime) we noticed the smears of mosquitos that had been killed by previous hotel guests (on the ceiling and the walls). I understand Venice has canals and canals contribute to mosquitos, but netting was not provided for protection nor was any type of mosquito repellent. If I went back to Venice I would try to stay in the same neighborhood, but perhaps in a different hotel (unless they get screens or provide netting).

The location was excellent - on a canal and close to vaporetto stops and many restaurants. Very convenient to Zattere stop. A bit hard to find on a very narrow street. We stayed in the annex which had no amenities as far a common areas except for breakfast room. Breakfast was adequate and filling. Room unexpectedly noisy with a restaurant just below it. The hotel was adequate but there are other, more appealing, places to stay in Dorsodoro.

This hotel was beautiful. It has been completely overhalled recently...wonderful European style. Breakfast typical. Location was fair, we had to take a boat ride to go most places. Great place at the price. I would definatly go back.

On this trip to Venice we wanted to avoid the crowds and tourist traps around San Marco and Rialto so we chose to stay in the Dorsoduro. Palazzo Guardi was a great base for exploring that area and the Giudecca (from where you get the best views of the city). On our first two nights we were upgraded to a canal view room (named Bucintoro) which happened to be free and it was beautiful. On our third night we had the room we'd booked (Poveglia), a U-shaped affair which would take a family. We stayed in the hotel's annexe, a floor in a separate building with its own front door which made it feel more like the real Venice. There are some really good restaurants nearby on the Zattere waterfront - try the terrace over the water at Casin dei Nobili.

Estuvimos alojados en dos cuartos del predio que esta al lado del hotel, esto trae algunas complicaciones a la hora del desayuno ya que éste se sirve en el predio del hotel. Las habitaciones son amplias y cómodas, pero en la habitación triple de nuestros hijos, en uno de los cuartos no tenía aire acondicionado ( considerarlo en caso de contratarlo durante el verano ). Con las informaciones que da Venere en el site, fue muy dìficil ubicar el hotel.

Le petit déjeuner était limité : il est dommage qu'en plein été, l'hôtel n'ait pas proposé de fruits frais mais seulement une salade de fruits en boîte.

Palazzo Guardi was an excellent choice for a Venetian holiday. Close to the vaporetto stop. The vaporetto to take is now #2 not #82 they've changed it. Follow the directions from other travelers and its easy to find. The 30 extra Euro for the Jr. suite with canal veiw is worth it. The canal is beautiful, and even thought the suite is one room, its large. We stayed in the secondary building with only one flight of stairs. The room had double paned glass that kept the noise out. The Dorsoduro area is relaxed.

This was the second visit to Venice for my husband and I. Last year we stayed at the Bauer, as part of Princess Cruises' package. It was nice but the Palazzo Guardi is a much better value: suite was much larger, location is perfect. The breakfast offering was a bit more limited, but certainly adequate. We will definitely return to this B&B!

We stayed in Palazzo Guardi at the beginning of May 2008 on our honeymoon. We found the hotel easily with the very detailed instructions provided by the hotel. The hotel is small and our room was not very spacious, but the location is excellent. Many interesting sites are within walking distance. The staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was ok, though the selection was not very wide. We can warmly recommend this hotel to other visitors any time.

Lovely smaller hotel with nice feel to it, big triple room worked well for 3 of us, great location near Accademia, easy to get around by foot / boat. Nice canal views from corner room, good breakfasts, take advantage of the free trip to Murano as well. We spent 3 nights here and would return.

Small hotel with few, but comparably spacious rooms with a nice Venice design; you can feel comfortable; bathroom modern and clean; the shower was even big enough for me (I'm tall); staff was friendly and helpfull; due to 24-hour service there is no need to keep the key all the day; I really can recommend it!

There was not enough bedding. I had to request a second pillow on the first night for which I waited quite a while as the person on recption couldnt find one. When I did receive it it did not have a pillow case - nor was one given to me on the second night. There were no additional blankets in the room. It made for a couple of cold nights. The breakfast area proved to be a little noisy in the morning as it was located right outside our room. The breakfast was extremely basic and could have been better - it filled a hole though. The hotel was easy to find. The instructions and pictures helped. We were also able to leave our bags in the hotel, though they were not held in a secure place but behind a curtain on shelves outside the reception area. Not sure if I would stay there again but for a first trip to Venice it was ok.

Excellent hotel. Fantastic location and great value for money. Stayed for 3 nights in a junior suite with canal view. Great space and very clean....delighted and would recommend to all.

This is a nice and hidden away hotel in one of the lovliest parts of Venice, the Dorsoduro. If you wish to be close to many places but still away from the beaten track this is a place to go. If you like a big room take a junior suite. Only negative points breakfest area was right outside room we got, so in the morning it is a bit noisy from about 8.15 am onwards. also the breakfest was rather disappointing. But overal a very nice place

Charming and competent owner

It was great - so spacious terrace from where to enjoy sunsets and sunrises! A little bit cold in wintertime because of old windows.

Perfect accomodation, neat and very "Venetian", feeling at home, cosy wine bar just a few steps away from Palazzo - would stay there any time again!

This hotel was in a great location. The staff was friendly and competent. Our room (No. 5) was right off the breakfast room, but was very quiet. We got there early and they allowed us to check in, and the next day we were able to leave our bags as we wandered the city. It was a little difficult to find (but we didn't come in from the Academia vaporetto stop as they suggested), but that made the experience all the more an adventurous, Venice-like one. I would definitely stay there again.

Very good except may be the breakfast

Great little place to stay in Venice. The map tells you exactly where it is but we walked right by it. It really is on this little narrow street. The location is great. 1 min walk to the grand canal and waterbus stop and less than 15 min walk to san marco piazza. Definitely would stay here again!

Small hotel on a narrow side street convenient to Accademia vaparetto stop...tiny elevator to 3rd floor where most rooms are located..gracious and helpful staff...room was small but clean and modern..would definitely stay here again..good value, considering Venice is very expensive (159 Euros, including breakfast).

We arrived at Palazzo Guardi at night and found it easily as I had copied down peoples instructions in other reviews. We were taken to the hotels second site where our room was just delightful. We had a quad room ( 2 queen beds) which were decorated in true Venetian style. Our room overlooked a small canal much to the childrens delight. The room was extremely quiet and very dark. Breakfast was excellent and held in the most quaint little dining room with only a dozen or so people. We were within walking distance of eveywhere we wanted to go. We loved our stay and would definetly come back to the Palazzo Guardi to soak up more of Venices' divine atmosphere.

Really liked the hotel. The location was great and it felt as if we were staying in a private house. This was our first visit out of season and we would go back again. We found some great places to eat. We concentrated mainly in the Dorsoduro area

It is more of a bed and Breakfast rather than a full-featured hotel. There is no bar or lounge as in a hotel but an excellent place to spend the night. The property provides a complementary water-taxi ride to Murano - but you have to ask for it!

Room was excellent for the price in a first rate location. I was not in the main hotel, and the public spaces in the adjunct building are nill. Check-in clerk failed to tell management I would leave a day early, but there was no quibbling on checkout. Stairs could be a problem for some.

We enjoyed our stay and the Palazzo Guardi was perfectly placed for us. The room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast good. We would have liked the oppportunity of a hot drink when we returned late afternoon. We relied on previous reviews to find the hotel. We enjoyed being in a 'residential' area of Venice rather than just a tourist centre.

A little difficult to find at first, but turned out to be a great location. A great value.

Please note the directions from previous posts below - the hotel directions are not helpful at all and the maps do not do justice to the potentially confusing layout of Venice streets. Calle Pistor is less than my arms' breadth wide, so it is easy to miss. They had us stay in a building separate from where the front desk is at on Calle Pistor, so it was a little strange to get to finally get to the hotel and then have to walk to another location. Unfortunately, this building did not have an elevator, so it was a bit of a pain to take our bags up and then down the couple of flights of stairs. I would say that the location of the hotel was great - a short walk to the vaporetto and fairly close to Piazza di San Marco. The photos that they post are pretty accurate, just make sure that if you are looking to book a double, you are not looking at the suite pics. The room was pretty small, but fairly well represented in most of the pics. Overall, this was a nice place to stay.

We had no problem finding the hotel - we arrived by ship which docked at San Basilio and we walked to the hotel from the Zattere - down the Fondamenta Nani to Calle dei Pistor, and there it was. Calle dei Pistor is very narrow, and so could be missed -- look for the street sign high on the wall. We went up to the reception area, and were then directed to our room (# 20 -"Arsenale") in the annex. We were very happy to be in the annex as it is very quiet and very private, with virtually your own private entrance. In the main hotel, many of the rooms open directly into the common area, which we would not have liked. Our room was a double junior suite, and was very large, probably 20 by 24 feet in size, with beautiful furnishings and a beautiful marble bathroom. Our two large windows overlooked the San Travaso Canal with a classic Venetian bridge and gondola traffic right out of our window. Just next door was the San Travaso Taverna which was an excellent place to eat (good to reserve ahead). Dorsoduro is a beautiful quiet area aithin easy walking distance of all of the sites that you will want to see. Breakfast was very adequate and available right outside of our door. If we can ever return to Venice, we hope to return to The Hotel Palazzo Guardi and will request the same room again!

This place is excellent for the value of money. Our room is spacious. However, the location of the air conditioning unit in the room does not make sense. It is installed where the cool air can't travel to where the beds are. What we also don't understand is the absence of a shower curtain around the bathtub, although the bathroom is huge, which I like. By the time when all 3 of us showered, the bathroom floor was completed flooded. Another wrinkle is that the Venere website mentions elevator is available. However, our room is located in another building where there is no elevator. We are a bunch of girls to drag our suitcases up the stairs! Also the front desk staff who received us when we arrived, who also served breakfast the folowing morning, was strange. He never had any expressions on his face, which was a bit scary. However, the breakfast room is just outside the front door of our hotel room. It is convenient yet quite. All in all, I will stay there again for the rate we paid (130 euros a night triple), and will recommend this to the others staying in Venice.

We stayed in the main hotel a couple of year ago without our children, and recalled that the hotel was well located, clean and adequate for the price. This time we took our 3 children and were placed in a separate annexe round the corner by a small canal. The rooms were clean, but only one of the rooms was of a good size. It looked as thought the annexe had only just been refurbished. It felt that we were somewhat isolated from the main hotel as there was no reception. Breakfast was served here ( contrary to some reviews - maybe this is a new service they have started offering ). Also the window to our room looked out on a very small and high light well with no views. Our childrens' room had windows overlooking a narrow passageway which was sometimes noisy. Their room was also over a bar which was opposite a night club. If we stayed here again, we would want more specific information about the rooms we were offered.

Estuvimos tres noches en el ático del Palazzo Guardi, una suite para 4 personas, espaciosa, limpia, decorada con gusto, con un baño precioso y una terraza de madera sobre el tejado del palazzo que tenía unas amplias vistas a todos los tejados de las casas de alrededor y a varios campanarios de diversas iglesias. Se estaba de maravilla al anochecer. Era relajante, tranquilo. El desayuno muy bueno. Para encontrar el Palazzo nos fueron muy bien las indicaciones de otros huéspedes que habían publicado en esta página cómo llegar. No tuvimos ningún problema en encontrarlo. Está muy bien situado con respecto a sitios de interés turístico.

Well we got a shock when we finally found the hotel, as the picture on the web site was actually the archways from St Marks Square - not the hotel front as we assumed. The real hotel entrance is down a very narrow, dark and dingy alley and you can easily miss the "Palazzo Guardi" sign. To be fair, this is probably not the only hotel in Venice with such a questionable-looking entrance, but we were not expecting it because of the web site picture. Despite the appearance from the entrance, it was very nice and well-kept inside, although there was a 3 floor walk up the stairs to get to the reception. Our family room was actually a few doors down the alley, but very spacious and nicely decorated with a great air-conditioner which I especially appreciated. We had booked an apartment with 2 bedrooms and large bathroom which was ideal for family of 4 with 2 older children (17 and 19). Location was pretty good (other than being down a narrow alley) - very close to a couple of different Vaporetto stops and easy walking distance to St Marks Square. Breakfast selection was good although a walk back up the 3 flights of stairs was necessary each time. Staff very friendly and polite, a good place if traveling with a family and you are trying to avoid paying for multiple rooms per night. I would certainly stay here again.

We chose this hotel mainly because the junior suite we booked offered a "canal view". We expected a view onto a dingy side canal but were amazed at what we got! A beautiful church opposite our window and a large wide canal in a quiet residential district. The regular rooms in this hotel are probably adequate but the suite was amazing, with original Venetian decor, two large windows with a sitting area overlooking the canal from which you can enjoy your morning coffe and definitely worth the extra 30 euros. Very clean hotel, competent English speaking staff, good breakfast and conventiently located to 2 vaporetto stops. Easy to find on the map as long as you know to get off at the Academic or Zatteri vaporetto stops. Best deal in Venice for the money! Visit the vinoteca downstairs for a true locals experience.

Palazzo Guardi was not the Palazzo we expected.It was lokated on the third floor of a buldind near Academia.Although we made a resarvation for the jounior suit with canal view, the only view was over the roofs of the nearby houses. The breakfast was very poor for the money we paied and for the two nights we staied they didn't clean the room, which was in fact very spacious and atmospheric. The location of the hotel was very convenient to the vaporeto and the whole area of Dosurdoro.We expected more when we werw making the reservation.Anyway, Venice was so great that we didn't mind the negarives of the hotel.

We loved this hotel and would stay again. Rooms were good-ours was big for a triple, location was great and breakfast was excellent each morning. All staff members were very helpful and friendly. Our stay was fantastic.

Main problem was that there was no AC and it was too hot. Also, there were several mosquitos in the room which made for a horrible sleepless night. Also, breakfast takes place literally right outside your room so forget about sleeping past 7am. They did take care of the mosquito problem when we brought it to their attention.

Our room in the annex was really nice. The junior suite for four people was on the 2nd floor (their 1st floor) faced the street and had a queen size bed and a full size sofa bed that we left permanently made as a bed. It would have been nice to have been able to keep the sofa bed as a sofa, but we needed the extra bedding for our kids. The breakfast room in the annex does not have a window opening into the street with a nice view as does the breakfast room in the main building. The neighborhood was really quiet at night. We loved the Dorsoduro neighborhood, not touristy at all. The 10 minute walk to St. Mark Square is very nice. Very very charming place. Downsides were that there are no english language channels and the bathroom was long and narrow. Check in is a little tough since it is hard to find the front door, and the reception is many flights up and the elevator is very slow and small. However, since we were in the annex, we only went to the main building at check in and at check out time.

We stayed during Carnivale and since it wasn't full the owner gave us a room facing the canal in the separate building. The room was very big with large windows and one of the biggest bathrooms we have seen in Italy. Breakfast was lovely and the hotel is at a great location. Highly recommend the place. We will stay again with our family this June.

Stayed in a double room for 3 nights at the end of December. Room was very clean, but not overly spacious. Location is excellent, not far walk/boat from main attratcions and a fantastic osteria (Vini al Bottegon) around the corner.

4 of us stayed in a room with 2 separate bedrooms and a bathroom. A nice quiet room separated from the hall and dinning area. Most of the hotel guests are in groups of family. The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. Its not a bad place to stay in venice. *p.s Rmbr to read the comments on the directions they are 100% super! And its not difficult with the directions. :)

You wl not be regret to choose this hotel if you get the right price.

No internet in every room. WiFi at the desk but some rooms are 150m away in a different building. Stupid Chinese made Venetian like room decoration, but this is almost unavoidable in Venice, appart from superexpensive hotels. Avoid noisy rooms near the breakfast area. Good prices, excellent location easy to see most of Venice, Spartan breakfast, Fri to Sun is full but in the rest is more or less empty. Close to Zattere vaporetto stop (Red Alilaguna line link S.Marco airport in 1,20h.) Campo Santa Margherita supermarket in the area and almost around the corner excellent cosy restaurant Osteria ai Quatro Feri.

During our 3day stay we looked at a few other hotels and pensions out of curiosity and found palazzo guardi to be the perfect place for us: wonderful location, close to the "hot spots" and still far enough away from "tourist highway". nice staff. we were very happy and want to book again right away.

El hotel fantástico, muy cerca de todo, y a un muy buen precio. Mi cuarto tenía vistas a uno de los canales. Está muy cerca de la Accademia, y a quince o veinte minutos a pie de la piazza San Marcos. Venecia... increíble. El personal muy amable. El desayuno bien, pero no la locura. Todo lo demás excelente (el cuarto, el baño, todo).

Super Lage, genau zwischen zwei Vaporetto-Haltestellen. Nahe beim Museum Accademia. Genau unter dem Hotel ein tolles Weinlokal, muss man unbedingt besuchen - dort stehen ohnehin immer Leute heraus, kann man nicht verfehlen! Wenn man das Zimmer im Dach buchen kann - dort gibt es eine eigene Terrasse, nur für dieses Zimmer! Unbedingt den im Hotel angebotenen Trip nach Murano machen - so kommt man kostenlos dort hin und kann auch den Glasbläsern zusehen, was einem sonst verwährt bleibt.

Me llamaron pq tenian la calefaccion estropeada y me buscaron otro hotel, todo en prefecto castellano, y todo correcto, recomiendo tanto este hotel como el que me buscaron ellos, el CA LEON D'ORO en la zona de rialto, prefectamente situado y recien renovado muy bueno

To get to the hotel, get off the boat at Academia. You will be facing the museum. Walk around the right side of the building and head straight down the wide street for about 100 meters. There is a narrow alley way on the right side with the name'Calle del Pistor' up on the wall. Walk half way down that alley way and you will come to the hotel on your left side. When they buzz you in, take the very tiny elevator up to level three to the lobby. This is a good place to stay as it is relatively quiet. There are some local church bells that can be noisy but in general the area is quiet. However you can walk to the grand canal in about two minutes. There are shops and restaurants all around. You can get anywhere in Venice very easily either by Vaporetta or on foot. It's best not to get a hotel right on the canal unless you enjoy nighttime revelry. Canal side hotels especiallly in the Rialto area can be very noisy. It really doesn't matter where you stay in Venice, it's all pure magical. It's an amazing place. Just don't fall into the water!!

We were not situated in the main building and our room overlooked an extraordinarily noisy "street" corner. Double paned windows were a big help but if in that building I would avoid that room at least on the first floor. In any case, the stay was fine and location was grand.

For exploring Venice, the hotel provides an inexpensive, convenient base away from the busiest areas. The hotel breakfast on the first morning was enough to persuade us to eat out for the rest of the week. Gino's Bar on the other side of the Accademia serves fresh pastries and excellent coffee and is a temple to Inter. Milan.

Very welcoming staff and comfortable, well-appointed rooms. The building's plain exterior gives no indication of the quality of the rooms. Limited public spaces--just a breakfast area. Good value.

We stayed in the Attic room in the main hotel. The hotel is hard to find, but go with the directions mentioned in other reviews, and you will find it. Our room was the best room we had in 6 nights in Italy. We stayed for 2 nights, but wished we were staying longer. We had a complete suite with a separate bathroom including a large bath. We also had our own large private balcony overlooking buildings and courtyards. There is enough room on the balcony for 6 people to have drinks around a table and more room for people standing. The suite also had a pull out couch and would be suitable for families. We were able to purchase some wine from the local shop around the corner (go left out of the hotel and left again at the end of the alley). It is called Cantine del Vino Schiavi. This is also a great place to have some drinks before going to dinner. The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful, including finding an adapter for my mobile phone charger. The breakfast area is in the main lobby right outside some of the rooms. We were able to walk to Rialto Bridge and the water bus is only 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The boat stop is Academia, and you can get the number 1 or 82 from the main train station. We would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Venice.

Romantic weekend in Venice: we booked for a double room in Palazzo Guardi but the hotel offered us an apartment instead, same price and service as per the room. The apartment (2 bedrooms, bathroom and living room with kitchen), redecorated in 2002, is very clean, comfortable and absolutely noiseless, at a walking distance to Ponte di Rialto, railway station and 20 minutes walking to Palazzo Guardi, where you can go in the morning to enjoy breakfast (if you don’t want to organize it on your own as various shops, bars and restaurants are just outside the door!). We simply recommend it, especially if your family is bigger than ours (we were only 2): you feel like being at home…but you are in Venice instead!

My wife and I went to Europe for our 1st wedding anniversary. We stayed in many different hotels, but Palazzo Guardi was one of the best. Finding the hotel was easy if you follow the directions. The staff were great and very helpful and the room was very spacious and hotel is centrally located. We stayed in the new section of the hotel, which is not where the hotel reception is, but it is great.

I highly recommend this hotel.

**READ THIS TO FIND IT** Otherwise you'll never find it. Get off at the Accademia Vaparetto stop. Walk away from the pier toward the entrance of the Galleria dell'Accademia. You'll see a sign that says "Gallerie" Entrance. Go to the right of the Gallerie entrance. At the first chance for a "right" turn you'll see a very small sign that says, "Chiesa di San Trovaso" and a street sign that says "Calle del Pistor" - This is it!! turn right here and go down this very small and narrow alleyway. I think it is only 4 feet wide!! Go 3/4 the way down the alley and on the right hand side you will see a very small plaque saying 995 Dorsoduro Palazzo Guardi. Ring the bell then go inside. You'll have to climb 60 stairs or take a very small lift to the 3rd floor. The "hotel" is on the 3rd floor and consists of a small office/breakfast room with about 8 rooms coming off the breakfast room and another 2 rooms up the stairs on the 4th floor. My family of 5 stayed in the largest room they have on the 4th floor. There are very few accomodations in Venice for 5 people in 1 room. This was one large room with 5 beds and a bathroom with a very low slanting ceiling. One part of the bathroom the ceiling is only 3 feet from the ground (I kid you not). The large bedroom also has an attached deck that you can go out onto and have a picnic (with chairs and table there already). I think this is a good choice (for a 3 star hotel) for a family of 5 who doesn't want to pay the high cost of 2 rooms a night in Venice. The breakfast (hours 8AM-10AM) consists of OJ and pineapple juice, coffee or tea. Canned fruit cocktail, rolls, croissants, cereal, milk, cream cheese, jam, jelly, yogurt. NO MEATS. The hotel also has a wierd check out time of 10:30AM - but they said they would store luggage for you if you needed it. The hotel location is good. There is a bridge across the Grand Canal at Accademia so you can easily walk to Piazza San Marco, Santa Maria del Giglio (for evening gon

Once you find the location of the entrance of the Hotel it is OK. We arrived in Venice about 23:30 hours and it was very difficult in finding the entrance at that time of night. If it had better markings maybe it would help in finding the entrance. Otherwise our stay was the best do to the location in Venice. The room we had was the best we had on this trip. We had a room in Salzburg which was the worst room for the price and it was like a small cabin on a cruise. I will send friends to the Palazzo Guardi, Great place for the price.

It was a standard hotel - nothing fancy but met our needs. The bathroom was very nice and large, but the bedroom was so small that we could barely open our suitcases. The breakfast was pretty basic and it was hard to convince anyone to bring us coffee (despite their noisiness seemingly making espressos for others right outside our room early every morning). Overall, we weren't very impressed with Venice all together - overpriced for the low quality food, scenery, etc that you get. So I guess you could say that this hotel fit right in with everything else.

Wonderful hotel. We truly enjoyed the surroundings. Just a few minutes away from Marcus square but still in a more quiet and less crowded part of Venice. A very convinient location. We had a family room for 5 persons and it was very spacious and nice.

Great place in Venice. Convienient but away from the crowds.Restaurants, shopping, and small grocery all 1-5 minutes walk. 3 minute walk to the boat to the airport with no steps on the way luggage is esay to take along.Staff nice and professional. Just as described in previous reviews.

We stayed here for one night. The room was much larger than we expected. It was more of an apartment with 2 seperate bedrooms and a bathroom. We did take a couple of wrong turns before we found where the hotel was. We had an additional more detailed map with us which I would recommend getting. There was a good selection for breakfast. This is a very good value hotel and we have recommended it other people. It was within easy walking distance of St. Marks Square and only a few minutes walk from the Accedamia Boat Stop.

The Palazzo Guardi was a great hotel, away from the masses of tourists, but still easily close enough for everything. Our flight out was cancelled so we had to effecitvely move our holiday back a day, but the hotel staff were great - very accomodating! They also have a 24 hour reception which was great! ( Don't think that's mentioned on the main page) Would definitely recommend this as a clean, friendly hotel that is very good value for money!

This hotel was completely charming, and all of the staff was extremely helpful in giving advice and directions to places we needed to get to. The hotel map provided is excellent as well. Our room was very clean, spacious, and wonderfully decorated,also a superb bathroom.The hotel is just 5 minutes walk to the Bella Supermarket so you can pick up your own snacks and meals to cut down on costs. The only downfall is that the breakfast area is right outside the doors of the rooms due to limited space on that floor of the building, so it gets a little noisy at 8:30. However, for what you get here, the noise was really worth it.

The occassion of our stay was for our family vacation. The room was wonderful and clean but quite pricy. Breakfast was decent. The hotel is conveniently located near Accademia stop. Overall - very please with the stay. Would go back there if the rate is a little lower.

I did love this hotel. the previous descriptions are accurate. It's in a nice, more relaxed part of town. Only problem w/our room was that there is a disco in the alley below it and the patrons were sometimes noisy late at night. We were in the annex which was fine so I did not really see the rest of the hotel. Croissant breakfast was fine. I loved the Rio San Trovaso. Things are being remodeled there so phones did not work so well, but I assume they are working out those bugs. Very nice hotel in great part of town!

The hotel was alittle hard to find. It was close to the Gallerie dell'Accademia, but it was down a small alleyway and you had to buzz to get in. It took us awhile to find it. Venice doesn't have any street signs so you have to sometimes guess where to go. However when we finally reach to hotel and walked up to the third floor. The staff was incredibly nice and let us get into our room right way. They were very helpfull and provided a map to help get around and helped us pick out a few restaurants while we were there. The place around the corner is great. They also provided a free boat trip to Murano and a free tour of one of the glass stores. They showed us how they made their peices of art. A highlight of my trip. Very cool. I loved Venice and definately will come back and stay at Palazzo Guardi again. Especially now that I know where it is. :)

Overall the stay was great. Very good proximity to San Marco but still enough of a walk that you got the feel of Venice and the canals. The service/friendliness of the staff could use some improvement. The room was as expected, nothing fancy, but clean and spacious by European standards. It was nice that the triple had two seperate bedrooms with doors. I was traveling with my husband, infant child (they provided a crib) and my mother and there was room and privacy for all.

The hotel is very good but it is difficult to find, the street is very narrow. Also the adress Dorsoduro 995 means that it is located in the Dorsoduro area, but you have to find out where the 995 is !! Hint : take the vaporetto and stop at "galleria del arte", it is very close then.

The room was clean, nicely decorated and spacious. The staff was polite and helpful. Just one little thing, the breakfsat area was right in front of our room (n.4), but at the end this didn't cause any major problems, with 2 young children, we were up early anyways. Do follow venere's instrucitons to get to the hotel, with line 82 , stop Accademia, or 51, stop Zattere, and do buy the Venice Pass, it is worth it. We didn't (took a taxi boat) and ended up paying more and waking from Piazza San Marco to the hotel, which would have been fine if we didn't have 2 kids and the luggage.

Le palazzo Guardi est une très bonne adresse, très bien située et avec un bon rapport qualité/prix en hors saison (je ne connais pas les prix haute saison).... Le seul point négatif, c'est que le petit-déjeuner est servi dans le hall de la réception où donnent directement les chambres et nous avons le plaisir d'être réveillés par le bruit des tasses et petites cuillères...

Highly recommended. The room was excellent. Service was very good, and the hotel is nicely located. I would definitely try to book with them again. Aside: Try the chocolateria on the other side of the canal!
