Hotel is overrated. It is far from three stars.Services are rendered at a minimum. Heating was only available for a few hours, although outside temperature was in the twenties. We were lucky to arrive two hours ahead, at noon, as later no one was in the reception and nobody answered the emergency phones left.

Difficult to find.No name board. The worst is to get there with luggage. We are an older couple; so to have to carry suitcases to the vaporetto stops is not very pleasant, especially the one where you take the vaporetto to the airport Marco Polo, because of the bridge stairs to get at this connection.

Locanda Herion is in the perfect location if travelling into Venice by train, 10 mins walk from station with one bridge to cross with easy stairs. Hotel itself has quite steep staircase so travel light. The room was spacious and clean however there was a substantial amount of mildew in the bathroom which could become hazardous if staying long. Would recommend that they improve breakfast service - at least get decent coffee, the coffee machine did not work well and the quality of the coffee was really poor. Enrico was very friendly and most welcoming. Would recommend it!

Convenient to the train station - a leisure 10 minute walk. a bit hard to find, but due to fact the city will not allow a larger sign. Nice walk to St. Mark's Square (15 minutes), or convenient to the water taxi. Had to leave early in the morning and the staff set us up with a light continental breakfast.

This hotel is too expensive for what it offers. The rooms and bathroom were not very clean. We had ants in our room and they got into our suitcases. The air conditioning did not work properly so we had some very hot august nights. The window in the bathroom was broken and could not be opened. We asked the front desk person to send someone to fix it but never happened. The breakfast was mediocre, nothing special. The building was in need of some TLC and paint. The worst thing was the pillows: they smelled REALLY bad. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. On top of that, the price is high compared to other 3 star hotels Staff is ok, but nothing to right home about.

NOT EASY TO FIND DUE TO LACK OF SIGN AT THE HOTEL. WE HAPPENED TO SPOT THE SIGN ON THE PATH LEADING FROM MAIN ROUTE. VERY QUIET. AIR CON A LITTLE TEMPERAMENTAL AND NOT VERY EFFICIENT. OVERALL GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY THOUGH.

Hotel was nice, hidden in a very hard to find nook. The only way we were able to find it (after passing by it about 5 times) was by a tiny sign that was probably about 12"x6" on the street that the hotel is on. So that is something to be weary of. Other than that, the interior is decent, nothing to write home about but not dreadful. The room was also nice, some paint peeling in the corner but other than that not a bad room. The restroom was surprisingly nice, nicer than everything else in the hotel I'd say. For the price, I'd probably look for cheaper places but wouldn't completely hate having to pay for the place again.

The receptionist was friendly and helpful, location excellent, 15-minute walk from Piazzale Roma. In a quiet alley off the main street in Cannaregio. Given accommodation prices in Venice, price-quality ratio was very good. Basic room but clean and air conditioned. Bathroom very spacious and luminous (missed a curtain for the shower). Basic breakfast in a nice outdoor patio.

The room was lovely, however the hotel has a problem with mold in the bathroom. When we mentioned it to them, the next day they tried to clean it, as they said they do every week. Our toilet seat was slightly broken when we arrived, as well as a window in the bathroom, and both were fixed the next morning. in addition, there is no elevator, and we received no help with our luggage. If you don't mind the sight of a little mold in the bathroom, and if you can easily carry your luggage, I would highly recommend this hotel.

We found the Herion excellent for our short stay, it was easy to find from P. Roma where the airport bus arrives and I would be very happy to return to this Locanda. Our only critcism would be there is a lack of shelf or other surfaces for your stuff in the bathroom. The breakfast and coffee were good for the price paid.

The first room we were given was only partially clean - there was a used bar of soap sitting on the counter and missing towels, fortunately for us the air conditioning was not working either so we were given another room that was much better in quality although the shower chair was pulled partially away from the shower wall and tiles were broken, exposing the wall to the water. Breakfast was good, many choices of good quality but there was a marked difference in the dining room staff toward the crowds of the weekend (very grouchy, unhelpful - dirty silverware, no plates) and the quieter small group of the week day (table settings present, offers to make coffees, etc.) Front desk staff at times were also very short and surly with people when they needed help. Location was great in terms of access to bus and quiet neighborhood - not many restaurants in close proximity though.

A very efficiently run family business. We had a quite spacious room and the facilities were good. There is a lovely courtyard with a balcony overlooking it. A very pleasant place to relax after wandering (or getting lost) in the streets of Venice. Great breakfast - the first place so far to warm our croissants and bread for us!

Fine room and hotel for the money. One caveat - this hotel does not have a hotel sign and is hard to locate, even with the map. Look for a small Locanda Herion sign on a building about 4 blocks past the Canal Canaregio - turn right down the little street, and the hotel entrance-1697/A-is in a small alcove on your left.

It was a very good hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast (I only missed fresh bread, instead of biscuits), fridge and hair dryer in the room, clean bathroom, nice surroundings. So I would recommend it to everybody (or at least to those who does not care to climb up one or two floors if needed).

The Locanda Herion was a great experience - we were there for 3 days before a cruise and found it to be excellent - it is close to the train station and Piazzole Roma (which makes it a bit of a ways from Piazza San Marco - and all the crowds). We bought a 3 day Vaporetto pass - IMOB Venice and used it to go everywhere. The staff were very knowledgeable and very helpful. High marks for Herion! A much more interesting and bohemian neighbourhood than than San Marco.

I really enjoyed my trip to Venice. Locanda Herion is a good hotel (location is excellent so close to rail station and vaporetto stop). The only one thing I didn`t like it was a little bit of mould above the shower but the overall was very good. especially very friendly staff which was waiting for me as I was arriving very late at night and also I could left my luggage in the last day before departure. So good value for money and BIG THANKS to ALL Locanda Herion Staff.

The location was close to a lively merchant street with fresh vegetable and fruit stands as well as typical Venice souvenirs and restaurants, yet it was very quiet. The entrance to the Locanda was a bit disappointing, very plain but othervice nice and clean interior. We had a very big room (maybe because it was called double superior). Breakfast rather Italian style - fresh sweet croisants, but also some packed dark bread and cream cheese was available. The only drawback was a coffee machine with coffee quality which did not match my desire for real Italian coffee. Fiendly and polite service.

One thing that was rather off putting was that the walls in the bedroom had mosquito's splattered on them. I did also suffer two bites whilst there. I realise, with so much water around they will get mosquitos but a bit of advise - wipe the walls down! We've been to Venice once before. There are so many places to stay in. For this reason I would try somewhere else next time.

Two complaints, the location of the hotel is completely different from the google map. it took us more than 1 hour to get the hotel from the station as we went around the ghetto area. Actually the place is very near from the station and very convenient. The person in the hotel told the Google to correct it but it was not corrected. Please do not refer to the Google map. the other complaint is that there is no refergerator in the room.

I'm Italian and I went in this Hotel with my girlfriend for my 6 years anniversary. Very beautiful Hotel, Bed & Breakfast is probably more indicated for this accomodation. Great rooms and great people, only breakfast sweet and the coffee wasn't the top (american coffee instead classic italian coffee). In general the hotel is good and I probably will go again here in the future.

The hotel is in a great location not far from the train station and just behind a busy area, so it was quiet. Watch for the small sign on the side of a building that points to the hotel. The room was very large - much larger than we expected. The only problem we saw was a lot of mold/mildew in the shower and on the wall above. Otherwise, the room was very clean and nicely decorated. The check-in gentleman went above and beyond in helpfulness. He carried all of our bags up the stairs, provided us with extras, and went out of his way to offer breakfast at an earlier time as we had a very early train to catch. He gets 5 stars from us!

Our stay was excellent. We arrived at 730am and were warmly greeted by the staff. They checked our booking and looked after our bags until we checked in properly later that morning. Our room was clean and warm and the bed very comfy. We stayed for 2 nights in mid January 2010 and would recommend Locanda Herion to anybody looking for accomidation in Venice. If you want only to sleep then this hotel is the right place and located not far awag from rail way station. The hotel is given as 3 Stars, but the room is very small, no minibar in the room (no refrigerator), one chair for two people, the TV is 14" and about 20 years old. The breakfast is very simple (croissant and coffee from machine). However, the price is low.

The Herion is a small friendly hotel/guest house. It is quiet and well located, close to shops, restaurants and bars. The public areas are small and the hotel does not have a bar or serve evening meals, which was not a problem for us. It is convenient for arrival by water, bus or train and the main tourist areas are easily reached on foot or by a short water bus ride. It is ideal for a quiet short break in Venice.

We stayed in single room with queen bed and private bath. Was a little noisy for afternoon napping. Was much further from cruise dock than we anticipated. Small front lobby but staff very friendly and helpful. We were permitted to leave luggage at front desk while we toured. Breakfast adequate. Was too cool to eat in courtyard. We stayed here at the culmination of our cruise. It was very adequate but expensive due to devalued US dollar. We walked to St. Mark's Square--5 and 1/5 miles in one day. We would recommend this place to others.

Too many mosquitos in the room, but it is Venice and Mosquitos are everywhere. People at the reception were friendly and the hotel is perfect for a couple of days in the Lagoon...

I stayed 4 nights with my partner and it was exactly as I had expected. I paid 80 € per night and I sincerely think that the services provided by the hotel are really over of this price. I would like to point the great kindness and hospitality of the hotel staff. They are all young relatives of the owners of the hotel.

This is a fantastic small hotel. Well situated near the railway station, and within walking distance with suitcases. You have to be alert to spot the sign on the wall at the laneway that takes you to Locanda Herion which is just off the main thoroughfare. Its a good walk to Rialto and St Marks Square but pleasant and relatively easy to find. We were very well looked after and our room was clean, comfortable and spacious (premium)and the ensuite bathroom more than adequate. The service was good and the staff very helpful and welcoming. I would highly recommend it.

The service was great but the hotel was hard to find. It is in a great location for getting around Venice and close to the train which was important for us.

Agradecidisimos.

This hotel is located at 5-7 minutes' walk from railway station. It took us a little longer when we first arrived there because there was no walking instruction on the website. The room is very spacious, especially the bathroom. We were almost thrilled when first seeing it after staying in hotels in Rome, Florence and Bologna. Waiters were very friendly. When we arrived the room was not ready, but waiters offered to bring our luggage to the room on 2nd floor once the room was ready, so that we could start touring right away.

Spacious and very clean room, updated decor, high quality double-pane windows kept out the noise, efficient air conditioner (that was NOT turned off at night, unlike other hotels in Italy), and convenient to the train station. Although there was no in-room refrigerator, we were allowed to use the hotel's. Would return in a heartbeat.

Having had a bad experience a week earlier of a checking into another hotel in Venice, also reserved through Venere, this was a most pleasant experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful and willingly answered any questions we had about getting around Venice. The rooms were clean and spacious. We had a very good breakfast outside in a small courtyard. The location was excellent. would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly return
