HAVING BREAKFAST ON AN OUTDOOR TERRACE - WITH A TEMPERATURE OF 8-10 DEGREES CENTIGRADE - IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, NOT EVEN FOR PEOPLE COMING FROM THE COUNTRY OF THE VIKINGS!! LUCKILY THE PLASTIC FRONT WAS ROLLED DOWN AFTER 3 MORNINGS AND THE HEATING WAS ACTIVATED. EXCEPT FROM THIS WE ENJOYED OUR STAY.

This hotel is located in a non tourist area of Morano, just a very short distance from a plaza there the locals gather each evening to talk and watch the children play. There is a small bar located on the plaza that provides for an espresso or glass of wine, at a fair value, and the opportunity to sit outside and relax. Time spent on this plaza is truly a genuine Italian experience away from the crowds of Venice proper.

This was a wonderful place to stay. Very quiet since tourists leave after the glass factories close on the island which was a plus for us. The downside is that the vaporetto ride to Venezia is 40 minutes and late at night it's an hour, plus the price of the vaporetto rides add up. Of course, it is a nice ride anyway where you get to see other parts of Venezia from the water. Overall, a beautiful place if you are not interested so much in the nightlife and want some more alone/quiet/private time.

No information from staff member regarding facilities available, no welcome to the hotel. Toilet cistern would not shut off so water ran all the time. We had to stay in a room down the street from the main hotel, which ment as we wanted breakfast one morning at 7:30 as advertised in our room litrature, this was impossibe as the hotel did not open its doors till 8:30am. When useing the courtesy phone outside the main hotel door we were told to come back later, but as we had to catch the water bus to the airport we had no time. You should change your litrature in these outside rooms to read BREAKFAST AT 8;30am. Basically I felt the attitude of the staff was, "just another bloody tourist".Your hotel is not in the best location for repeat business so it would help if the staff were more pleasent. good luck CB

Perhaps the best hotel I have stayed so far. Extremely beautiful with very friendly and helpful staff and at a very reasonable price. I was very sad because I could not stay longer. Do not be deterred by the fact that the hotel is located on Murrano because the public transportation is very good and the island is magnificent and very quiet. I am really looking forward to staying there again!

The location is very good, right next to museo vaporeto stop. at the first night we were attacked by mosquitoes that bothered our sleep so we learned to keep the window close all the time. in the early mornings there was a very loud squeaking noise from the ceiling that was really too much.the breakfast is very very poor and check out time is too early 10:00 although we left at 11:30 but that was after given a hard time by the not nice receptionist.great location and price but service not so good.

We stayed in a double with facilities, for 9 days, in February. Liked it very much. Warm spacious room , spacious bathroom. Breakfast now is good and big enough, I'd say king size. Their prices are very cheap for Venice. Everything was exellent. A small minus is WiFi, which isn't free and rather slow.

We stayed for 5 days at Hotel Conterie on Murano from 4th to 9th October 2010. The website photos looked very appealing. We were sadly disappointed. On arrival at 4pm on Monday reception was closed and there was no one about. We were met eventually by what can only be described as a surly young lady after having phoned the hotel from its lobby. ( their instructions to ring the doorbell did not work) The room we were shown to was tiny ( about 8 foot wide by 14 foot long) ( a double bed with one foot down either side to get into bed) and dark (shutters closed, dark green wallcovering, and a dark bedspread, and no explanations were given - To be fair I don't think our "receptionist" had any english and reception wasn't really her job. Breakfast was very poor ( cereals, dried up croissants (pre-packaged), crusty rolls with butter and preserves and vending machine drinks ). We went to the local co-op supermarket and bought our own fruit to eat at breakfast. Murano Island appears to shut down at 6pm and the vaporettos to the island cease soon afterwards. There are very limited restaurants open in the evening ( and we don't eat late), and nothing to look at or do on the island, which was unfortunate because we really didn't want to go back to our room either. Overall for us - a bad choice to stay on the island and at this hotel. ( We think perhaps we should have opted for a hotelsin Venice itself)

Although this hotel is situated on the gorgeous island of Murano, it was not worth the price or the time that it takes to get anywhere. St. Marks is over an hour away on water bus, and taxi's are around 75 Euro for a one way trip. The hotel decor is very outdated, the breakfast is poorly stocked and has very minimal selection. The staff is rarely at the desk to be of service, and when they are at the desk most of the time they do the absolute minimum amount of work possible to help you. I would personally never stay at this hotel again.

Locanda Conterie is a great place to stay to avoid the crush of people in Venice. My wife and I were comfortable and undisturbed by the crowds. It is a little difficult to find but that is also an advantage. The shops on it's side of Murano are very authentic and really know their stuff and most of the tourists don't bother to come back to the Museo area to shop. Like everything in Venice it is a little pricey but relative to other options provides good value.

I recomend it to all people, like a young people and familys. The Hotel was excellent for the relation quality-price. And you can stay in the centre of Venice in only 15 minuts. The vaporetto station is only 2 minuts walking fron the hotel.

The main issue that is Murano is rather far from Venice , it will make time limitations on your schedule and after 8:00 PM almost every thing in Murano is closed however the place is really quite & peaceful and I enjoyed my stay a lot

The hotel is quite nice, clean and without any noise (at least on 15th of october). Murano is a romanthic place and from there one may reach venice at any hour of day and night. We suggest to buy the boats' timetable for 60 cents from any ticket shop. In the night it's better to arrive to the boat stop ten minutes early.

Room was small by the USA standards, but OK in comparison to other Italian hotels. Breakfast was just coffee from machine and pastries, smaller than in the equally priced hotels in Milano, Florence and Rome that we visited. Murano is about 30-40 minutes away from Venice, so be ready for this (last vaporetto leaves Venice at 9 pm) and also buy a pass for a few days. Hotel also did't have any maps or other info about Murano or Venice. The only reason we will stay in this hotel next time is the price - it is much lower that for the worse room in Venice.

A nice quiet location. The room was very smart with tasteful furnishings. The waterbus (valporesso) to Venice is frequent and takes approx.10 minutes.

Recently converted and decorated to very high standard (marble floors, chandeliers, fabric wall coverings etc.). Unfortunately more effort has been put into decor than hospitality, no breakfast for example. If you're after just a room, then this is the place (certainly more affordable than venice, and only 10 minutes away), but considering it is a small family establishment, pehaps lacking in charm.

This hotel is located on Murano which is quieter and less touristy than the main St Marco area of Venice. The island is however closer to the airport and has a good Vaporetto service to the main Venice sites. The staff in the office are very amenable and speak good English. Our room was spacious with en suite facilities and was cleaned daily. The room rate was also very reasonable for the time of the year we visited (compared to other Venice hotels). The only item that we might suggest is either a kettle in each room or a coffee machine somewhere else in the building, for guests like us who can't always be bothered to go out to a cafe or restaurant for a hot drink.

The noise level in the room was enormous! I could understand the people in the room near me exactly, so I couldn't sleep well. That's a pity, because the rest of the location is excellent. I will NOT come back because of the noise, I'm sorry about that!
