In my opinion, Locanda del Ghetto is in a perfect location in a quieter part of Venice but within easy walking distance to all major tourist sites. The place is small and pleasant. My main critic is the antiquated internet policy. In this day and age it seems crazy that a place would not have free wifi. but what makes it worse is the exhorbitant price that they try to charge. it seems to be based on the past when people would connect their computers for specific things instead of today's world of constantly connected devices. the last thing is that their website specifically mentions one hour free but this wasn't honored.

Beautiful location, italian style breakfast in a small room (four tables only for at least eleven rooms!), basic and too noisy room heating ( additional portable heater was necessary). Fantastic when heating or cooling is not required and if you like just a cap of coffee or tee (not cappuccino!) and croissant for breakfast, otherwise choose a different accommodation.

Despite the fact that breakfast was very limited (which we knew in advance), we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this B&B. The location in the heart of the Ghetto was wonderful. We loved the balcony overlooking the Ghetto square. The B&B was accomodating for Sabbath observant Jews.

This hotel is easy to reach from train station and it will save you some euro on "vaporetto"-the boat. Just go straight to the left ,walk across the bridge to Guglie where the boat stop (from here you got to walk anyway). I wonder why they don't explain direction this way. Room is very good, spacious, look like a real ancient house. My wife loves the ceiling ;). I like the maid (male) and the night shift guy who look friendly and wonder what happen with the rest of staffs - you guys will look much pretty with some smiles. Breakfast is only bread - a bit disappointing. However, once you're inside the room, the quietness and the feel of the room make this hotel wonderful. If you have trouble with A/C (with Heater), get them to help. When it works it is just fine. Recommended one !

Loved the location. I felt like I was a part of the community. Didn't feel like a tourist. Hotel location had a great connection via vaporetto with other parts of the city. You could also walk and follow main streets that would get you to Piazza San Marco in 20 minutes.

This was an excellent choice and a delightful surprise. The hotel is located on the main square in the ghetto. The square is a family area. Children and small dogs were playing. Families were visiting. We felt like we were in the real Venice. We walked everywhere, took water buses to other islands (Murano and Burano) found nearby restaurants and just enjoyed our stay. If we return to Venice we will stay here.

Our room was spacious, clean and quiet, as were the other parts of the hotel we saw. The staff was a bit of a mix: some a little unfriendly, or at least not very welcoming, some more friendly, and staff competence was also variable. Breakfast was the most limited out of the five hotels we stayed at in Italy, just a few rolls and a single small box of cereal not big enough to share between two people. Overall, it was decent for the price, but there's room for improvement.

The hotel is truthfully represented on the internet. We stayed in a spacious room with an equally spacious bathroom. I enjoyed the location - off the beaten track - in a historic campo. The 10 minute walk from the train station, and a 5 minute walk to the vaporetto to the airport are a plus! I would recommend this hotel, but don't expect free wi-fi, or a huge breakfast! (Those weren't my priorities.) It's a charming small hotel in a great location...

The sheets were not changed each night, I spilled something on the sheet the first night and the sheets were never changed the entire three nights. The place was noisy and felt very uncomfortable. There was a hand written note on the back of the door that read "if you are on minute late to breakfast you will not be served" not really too wellcoming, the breakfast was horrible three stale rolls and some horrible coffee. I wouldn't go back to this dump if I was paid too. I am a pilot and stay in lots of hotels and this was one of the worst I have stayed in. I will also mention you could hear the reception desk from the room I was in and was awakened when ever anyone came and talk to the recption person.

Going to Venice I was very concerned about finding a good hotel for a descent price so I booked Locanda del Ghetto and I could not be happier. The hotel is SUPER clean and well maintained, the rooms are very spacious and have all the amenities you could want (expect no fridge). The staff was very nice and tried to be helpful (spoke enough English). The location is great felt very safe in the area, a little far from San Marco but has plenty of public transportation options close by. Breakfast is included however its a little poor consists of only bread, butter, jellies, coffee and juice. Internet costs 3 for 30 minutes and 9 euros for 2 hours. Overall I would recommend this hotel my stay was very pleasant.

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was very nice and helpful and I got warm welcome. The only minus was breakfast - quite poor - just some sweet stuff, no cheese or ham or so, no yoghurt at all. I don´t like sweet breakfast so I was quite disappointed. The rest was OK, location still close to P.le Roma and the railway station.

actually this would be quite a nice little hotel in a quiet surrounding. but it is venice and we were staying over new years eve when prices are extremely high. the staff was not helpful at all, the room was cold and we were told that's because of the high ceiling. breakfeast is poor and being served until 10.00 only (even on new years day) and if you are just one minutel late the staff tells you it's over.

This was a pretty good spot, easy to find, comfortable. No complaints really - the only negative would be that they charge for the wi-fi and it doesn't work in your room. It is a little noisy in the afternoon as all the local children come to play in the square outside, but I thought that was nice. In the evening it was pretty quiet, the restuarant downstairs was nice and it was reasonably close to everything.

The hotel is located in a very nice zone of the town and you can reach any interestng place of Venice by walking. The rooms are elegant and perfectly clean. The only negative aspect is the noise: the walls are very thin you can easily hear the people in the other rooms, and at night this has been quite annoying. This was our first time in Venice and therefore this hotel. The hotel was within easy reach of the main rail station. Rooms very clean and bathroom well designed with some pleasing lighting. For us, the lift (elevator) was a must in view of our baggage. Beware of the uneven paveing stones when venturing out along the cannals as one of us had a fall that affected what we were able (unable) to do for the rest of our stay. The hotel staff were most helpful following this incident. The restaurant next door was excellent and good value. The area itself was quiet although during our stay there was preperation for a special week long series of 'concerts/plays' - something we missed out on!!

Within 15-20 mins walking distance or short hop on water bus from Piazzale Roma. Hotel is 5 min walk to Grand Canal water bus but also 5 min walk in opposite direction to water bus for Murano. Situated on a quiet square in Jewish quarter. Outside was shabby compared to photos and took a while to recognise on arrival. Rooms inside spacious and immaculate with good size bathroom but lacking character and almost 'corporate'. All rooms had a view on a quiet canal or the square. The bed mattress was rock hard which may suit some and not others. Staff were pleasant enough but not chatty or helpful with suggestions on where to go and what to do. Breakfast was minimal. Not being able to check out before 8.00am caused us a problem as the sign advising this was not obvious. Some lovely restaurants locally but you have to book the good ones!

A great location, not many tourists in the Ghetto. The local children play in the courtyard at the end of the day. Our room had windows on the canal behind the building and was very quiet. This hotel is located on a lovely place, away from tourists (which is good !). Price was a little bit high, but this was mainly due to the Mostra, which took place during our stay. Negative point : we had to leave early on Monday morning (4.30pm), but we were not able to take a shower because no water was coming from the taps ! Was this due to a problem or was it intentional ? We will never know (the night keeper was not really surprised...) !

I booked this hotel after reading all the reviews and turned out to be a very good decision. Despite its historic surroundings, it is very nice and quiet area which seperates you from all the crowds and noises. One good thing is that there are two good restaurants, one is at just next door and recently opened, very friendly staff with good English. The meal we had there was one of the best and reasonably priced. Then there is another one (Al Faro if I remembered correctly)only around the corner, we had the best Bruschetta in our whole italian trip. Distance wise is pretty good, walking distance to the train station or Piazzle Rome...we walked from hotel to different major sites all the time or just get lost in the small alley.. People complained about breakfast, but that is what locals do, we did not think that is a big deal... highly recommened...

The room was large, pleasant and clean but a fountain in the piazza outside was very noisy and when we shut the windows found that the air conditioner would only heat. Staff were polite and helpful except for the man on night duty regarding the air conditioner problem. Breakfast was insufficient with stale croissants and the worst coffee in Italy. The location is great if you want to be away from the San Marco area and there is a lot of interesting history in the ghetto area.

This is a very quaint hotel in a very quiet location. Very easy to get to all parts of Venice with Gulie boat stop. The breakfast was very simple - just rolls, butter, jam, juice and coffee - which was fine for our tastes. The tour of the Ghetto was very informative and we recommend taking the time to do this. Staff was very friendly and helpful with dining recommendations. Wake up calls were timely. Preferrred this to the more tourist - foot traffic areas of St. Mark's and other more familiar places. Would stay again. The only difficulty was initially finding the inn. When you step off the boat at Gulie, you need to go to the left on the main walkway, just up to the next corner and turn right. This is dirrectly after the pharmacy. then proceed forward untill you get to the open courtyard. You will need to cross one bridge just prior to the courtyard. Then the Locanda Del Ghetto is on the right.

This is a lovely hotel but like most hotels in Venice, quite hard to find if you dont have a really good map. It is about 5-10 mins walk from both the train station and the coach station if you know where you are going, and around 30 mins walk from St Marks Sq. The staff were the best thing about the hotel - just lovely - incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was basic (the croissants were a bit 'nothing' - not crispy and buttery as they can be, and the bread rolls were a bit dry, but it sufficed). I had been warned about this by other reviews and it was OK. Because there are no carpets anywhere, and noise carries around the building, and the walls between rooms are not very sound proof (but this is not unusual in hotels). The windows were sound proofed, though, so we heard no noise at all from traffic on the canal. Overall, mostly because the staff were so nice, I'd recommend this hotel (and I am quite fussy), but I'd bring ear plugs just in case.

Breakfast is simple (coffee and croissants), but that is alright by us because we were eager to go out to explore Venice anyway. The neighborhood is very good, far away from the maddening tourist crowd, yet close and convenient enough to get anywhere you want. The local restaurants are some of the best I found in Venice, especially Osteria de Rioba (recommended by Christiana who works at the front desk). Thanks to Christiana, Alessandra and everyone there, our stay was very welcome and pleasant. We highly recommend this hotel.

We really rate this hotel. The rooms are first rate and very good value for money. The location is good too - quiet yet close to the sights and amenities. I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you to the staff of Locanda del Ghetto for making our short break so enjoyable. The accomodation was first class throughout, as was the service received. The buffet breakfast is a little spartan, but of good quality and pleasantly served. Thanks again, we will definitely be back.

This is a friendly, clean and very well run hotel. We arrived very late at night and when we mentioned that we had not eaten since lunchtime the night porter made us coffee and croissants. The staff were all very helpful. Our alarm clock call the morning we left came on time. Our room was beautiful. If I have any criticism it would be that the breakfast room is a bit small and the quality and quantity of the breakfast could be improved. Other than that I loved my stay in Locanda del Ghetto and will recommend it to others.

An ideal hotel to stay in when visiting Venice. It is tucked away in a part of town really only frequented by locals and the occasional 'lost' tourist which gives it a true feeling of what Venice is really like. The staff are very accommodating and the rooms were excellent - if you get the option ask for the rooms at the front overlooking the square. Breakfast was the usual fare but the hotel is located very close to a strip of exceptional restaurants which do not simply offer any non-Italians the menu turistico! Overall I would certainly recommend that visitors used this new hotel as it provided the perfect base from which to explore this unique city.

Locando Del Ghetto is a charmfull, cosy hotel with an excellent and friendly staff. The location is wonderfull: a peacefull square at approximately 200m from the vaporettostop, and from a shopping/restaurantstreet..we advise everyone to book this hotel, you won't regret it!! We were offered a superb room and the service was impecable. I would have liked to been provided with tea & coffee making facilities or have been advised that none was on offer so that I could have provided my own. Please pass this information onto Loconda del Ghetto. Many thanks Laura-Jane Jackson
