Very good hotel but the room does not correspond to that chosen. I took the large room upstairs. Not for the number of people but for the quality of the room. We have also paid a price equal to the great room!

We stayed at Ca' La Bricola during March 2009. It’s extremely difficult to find the hotel. We’ve had Maps printed with the exact location of Hotel, but still the hotel is hidden in a passage with no proper name boards. Then when you arrive just hope you receive a room of proper size, the one we stayed was designed very badly. Also when you have questions to ask there’s no one available at reception, I don’t think it’s the guest purpose to phone the person on duty. Lastly, the major positive for choosing this hotel was the free Internet as advertised when we asked for assistance, they had excuses they’re busy with a new technical installation. I’m very disappointed at what I received for the amount I had to spend.

I felt excellent, and I had a beautiful time. This hotel was fantastic all round. Location was perfectly placed between St. Marco and the Rialto Bridge. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was good size and clean,(we stayed in no. 2) the bathrooms was very clean also. Overall, this hotel had character. For travellers who are flexible, have a sense of humor, and are in love, it's a fine choice. Especially considering the notoriously overpriced Venice market, I consider this hotel a decent value for the money. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.

The room advertises a jacuzzi - but failed to mention there was no shower, which is pretty much a standard feature in hotels in this price range. There were a few problems (in no order of importance). 1. The hotel aircon unit was just outside the window and it was very loud. 2. A light was not working in the room which made it quite gloomy. 3. The jacuzzi had not been properly cleaned. 4. The breakfast was quite limited. 5. The proprietors were grumpy and never smiled - we did not feel particularly welcome. 6. They only speak Italian. 7. TV in the room only had Italian channels. 8. No glasses in the room for drinking water etc. 9. The room safe didn't work. 10. The hotel is very difficult to find the first time. I emailed to ask whether they could send us a very precise map because I had read of the difficulty in finding the hotel - and never received a response. I would not recommend it to a friend.

Excellent location, 5 mins walk from St. Mark's Square. Very spacious room with very good facilities, especially bathroom with spa bath. A little noisy in the early morning due to street activity, but if you keep the window shut it is not a problem. Breakfast typically Italian but very adequate. Highly recommended.

We stayed in a superior double room. The room was small even by European Standards but was clean and nicely decorated. Our primary complaint was that we were told that English was spoken but found out on arrival that this wasn't true. This made it difficult to do business as well as well as no one being available for directions, suggestions for restaurants etc. They did serve a light breakfast that wasn't advertised.

Difficult to find, but is simple if you follow the nest steps: 1. is left side of the San Marco catedral, find the small stree "Calle de la Rizza", follow the stree, you will see the MonteCarlo Hotel of Best Western in your right and in your left a small entrance to BurgerKing, after the hotel you will see a very small street in your right, take it, and then to your left, you will se an small restaurant just in the next door is the hotel.

We stayed in room 201. The Bricola was a very hard hotel to find but we knew we were in the right area so we looked into every alley no matter how small and that's how we found it. The location is perfect it's only about 150 meters from San Marco and just a little further to the Rialto. When we arrived the door was locked so we rang the bell and friendly man from the restaurant next door came over and asked if we were checking in. We told him that we were and he picked up my wifes bag and carried it up to the front desk and after checking us in he once again carried her bag up to our room. 56 steps in all (we counted them each time). The Room was huge by Venice standards. We had a king size bed and a day bed off to the side for our non-hanging cloths, a large closet, desk, refridgerator to keep our white wine cold and in the bathroom a BATHTUB with jets to soak our bodies. Everything seemed to be brand new and perfectly clean. We were very happy. The breakfast was free and served by a friendly couple in the dining room which was the only public area in the hotel other than the stairs. I was in Venice the week before on business with one of the vineyards and they put me up at the Westin Europa& Regina hotel which was $1000.US/night. The breakfast cost $50 Euro at the Westin after they told me to help myself and try anything I wanted. They never told me it was Ala Carte they just brought me a bill and said have a nice day. Thankfully that was vineyard money. The Westin had the easy to find location on the grand canal, spectacular public areas and tiny rooms with tiny bathrooms. At the Bricola we a nice rate of 130 Euro, free breakfast, huge room, bathtub, Refridgerator and a great location in the heart of San Marco. walk a few blocks to the Osteria Ae Sconte for a wonderful dinner it was one of our best on this trip. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who can handle the 50+ steps up the marble starcases to their room. Great value!! The staff

This hotel is super cute, not a bad price and a great location. There are two problems with this hotel 1) it's hard to find and the map provided is terrible and 2) the staff are hardly ever there! We had to wait outside the hotel for a few minutes before even being able to get in. And then once we were in I really never saw a staff member again, which wasn't a problem for us, but if we needed anything I don't know what we would have done. However, the room was great and the location is impossible to beat! I still recommend it.

The hotel is hard to find because it is not on a main route and is not well marked. We only found it because we had found the attached restaurant (La Bricola), which is on a more important street and easier to find. However, it is very close to the San Marco square and therefor an excellent location. One hint, the air conditioning will not come on if the window is open. This makes sense environmentally. Also the air and lights only work if the room key is inserted in the slot -- this was demonstrated to us by the staff. The staff were very generous in letting us leave our luggage in the (very small) lobby after checking out so that we could do some last minute sight seeing.

The room was very spacious. However, after walking all day in Venice, it was hard to climb the 55 steps to our room. NO elevator, but it is Venice, guess to be expected. The room was clean and roomy and quiet. There was not a clerk at the desk when we arrived and we had to ask at the restaurant (same name) to gain entry or if anything was needed.

we found the hotel quite difficult to find, the landmarks i used to find my way back from st marks square, were to find the bestwestern montecarlo hotel (which has a big sign outside it, and is relatively easy to spot, it is also down the next street on from macdonalds), and to go past it, then the next little alley way on the right(which looks off the beaten track) turn down it, and then turn left into the little courtyard you see, the hotel is in here, the sign is on a door, after the restaurant next door. Alternatively if you don't like the look of that alleyway, take the next right (you should see a bridge over a canal in front of you) then look for a gap in the buildings on the right that leads you into a courtyard, and you should see the door to the hotel on the right. The hotel was lovely, in a fantastic location near st marks square, and a short walk form the rialto bridge. It is in a very quiet location, so quiet infact that my husband left his rucksack outside the hotel entrance on a chair, and it was still there an hour later when we realised it was missing!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the hotel staff were friendly and hospitable, although they speak limited english. There are also a lot of stairs to navigate to get to your hotel room, so i wouldn't recommend to anyone who would struggle with stairs as there was no lift.

Super location -- right off St, Mark's Square, but hotel owner 1) hardly spoke a word of English, 2) disappeared after 3PM, leaving no one at the desk. Room was a bit tight, though it did have a jacuzzi. Breakfast was OK, though rather Spartan compared to other places. No elevator, and steep steps. Not for physically impaired.

It was initially difficult to locate the hotel but the waiters in the restaurant directed us. The location is ideal for getting around Venice. The room was small but clean with a comfortable double bed and also had a great power shower and jacuzzi bath facilities. Only issues the air conditioning unit kept breaking down and if you're tall watch your head on the stairs. They should put up signs to inform you of the low ceilings. We paid peak rates for this hotel but it seems like all hotels in Venice are expensive and can't really be compared to the standard you would expect in other countries for this price. Overall I would recommend staying in this hotel.

Good location for sightseeing close to St Marks Sq - not too far from the waterbus stop (prepare to negotiate the crowds to get to the hotel)entrance difficult to find, look for the Ca La Bricola restaraunt the hotel entrance is behind the restuarant down a small alley the restaurant staff will direct you if needed. Recommend the junior suite - it's on the top floor so its a long climb (no lift) its not huge but the jacuzzi bath is great after a tiring day sightseeing. To work the air con/heating ensure all windows are shut - system is linked up. Staff dont speak english and we dont speak italian - so its fun trying to communicate. Check out is 10.00 but you can leave your luggage at the hotel until it's time to leave.

Ca' La Bricola is an excellent bed & breakfast with an excellent location. The rooms, although in most cases quite small, were brand new, very well decorated and spotless. As a B&B, there are very limited services inside but generally the experience was good. If you are looking for someplace simple that is right next door to St Mark's, this is a great option. If you prefer a hotel with services, this option is not ideal.
