They moved me to an apartment (very nice) without notice. Then I didn't have access to services (e.g. wifi) Directions to the original location were not clear. Breakfast was marginally OK. In general, they worked hard to overcome the glitch and help out.

Welcoming owner and staff in this large appartment with antique decoration and furniture, though condition is average. Not all rooms are large, but some are. The neighborood is quiet and pleasant. A good B&B, but not an hotel, value for money is only average, but many things are in Venice.

The single room I stayed in was no more than a wardrobe with view over the kitchen of a Chinese family. Furniture was cheap and dusty. The curtain did not open and the bed cover was burnt by a previous guest's smoking. The bathroom was very nice, it looked like just restored even if the hotel employee said it was rennovated 7 years before. Other roojms, especially double ones, look more spacious and charming as I asked the employee to have a look at some. The breakfast lounge which serves as main reception area as well is a confused mess of different bric à bric. If you plan to stay just one night and not to spend too much time in room, it might be ok even if it is really overpriced!

We loved our stay here in Venice. The room was a nice size for 3 of us. It was very clean, bathroom was spacious, with tub. I think most of the 2 person rooms have only showers though. The decorating was very eclectic and fun. Donia, who does the cleaning and serving at breakfast is lovely, a very hard worker and aims to please.

I wrote a review of my stay at this hotel in June 2008. I returned here with my wife because my experience during my first stay was so satisfactory and am pleased to say my wife entirely shares my view. This is a hotel of charm and character, with friendly and helpful staff. I/we intend to continue to use this hotel on future visits to Venice.

1. It is very difficult to find this hotel because its appearance is just like resident's apartment house. 2. Room key is old fashion and difficult to use. 3. Instead of shampoo, disposal "bath gel" was supplied. 4. No internet service 5. TV is old fashion.

We had a wonderful stay at Locanda Ca'del Console! Doina and Marina were welcoming, helpful and so warm and friendly. Our room and the breakfast area were beautiful. We stayed in a quadruple suite. The only problem was our difficulty in finding the property, and we got lost more than once, even with the directions provided. Venice can be hard to navigate as there are not signs for many of the streets, but our wonderful experience at the hotel more than made up for that inconvenience.

Llevo muchos años viajando con Venere y siempre he estado satisfecho.

If you are looking for reasonably-priced accommodation of charm and character, this is the place to stay. These premises of the former Austrian consulate are the antithesis of the sterile environment of so many modern hotels. The decor and furnishings strive to provide an old-world atmosphere. The staff are charming and helpful and provided clear instructions by e-mail on how to find the hotel from the Rialto bridge. I'll certainly use it again on return journeys to Venice.

This place was very hard to find while dragging luggage up and down bridges. They were not English-speaking as advertised. Also, midway into our stay, we were informed that their credit card service was not working and that we would have to pay in cash. We had to go to our next destination with no cash and hope to find a bank machine quickly. I was very displeased with this property.

It's not really an hotel, but a pleasing surprise to stay in a private house. With a very low number of rooms, seems to live in a old and fashioned Venetian house. Incredible variety of furniture and furnishings. It seems that the house was really the residence of the Austrian consuls in Venice.Distressing the main house entrance. but do not worry for this. No any big assistance from the staff. But do not forget: you are consul's guests. Take your time and wellcome in a venetian house. when you get out the house, do not forget to take with you the keys of the main door down by the channel!

This hotel was the most disappointing of our entire 6 week European holiday. I choose this hotel on the recommendation of previous guests on the Venere.com website. I'm not sure what they were going on about because when we finally got the the locanda - I was so upset I cried. Firstly, the place is impossible to find - we ended up having to ring up and getting someone to come and get us - and this does not improve once you know where it is. Even after three days there we kept having trouble finding it and getting lost. Secondly, the room was an absolute dissappoinment. The locanda's own website stated that our room had canal views - however when we got there the only views we had was of a rubbish dump! The view was of the internal central courtyard which was covered in rubbish - a most unattractive sight. The room was not as good in reality as it looks in the pictures. The beds were old, creeky and uncomfortable. The funiture was really worn. The bathroom was newish but the shower was terrible just a trickle (could not wash your hair) and sometimes there was no hot water. Thirdly, the breakfast was the worst we had on our trip - everything was measured - one croissant, one break roll. We were supposed to have free access to the minibar but this was not refilled after we had drunk the initial few drinks. The one maid/helper did not speak any English and the owner Marina (who has limited English) was only there to take our money when we arrived and when we left and as a consequence we were not able to find out about our "free" trip to Murano. All the rooms are off the one and only lounge area/breakfast room and as a consequence it can be quite noisy in the rooms - especially late at night when you are trying to sleep and one of the other guests decides to have a party there with 20 of his friends who are not guests at the locanda. Having to carry all those large keys around was actually a real pain - not quaint at all. The entry into the locanda is really un

Room small but comfortable and quiet. Location quite convenient. Staff friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the breakfast was poor - only one roll and one croissant each and no cold meat of any kind and the coffee was awful. I would stay there again if the breakfast was better.

The atmosphere of this place is perfect - a tiny back alley leads to a secret door, which leads to a stone staircase by the boathouse, which leads to another door, and behind that is your hidden gem of a guesthouse tucked away. The entrance hall is grand and ornate. Our room was plush and overlooked one of Venice's quieter canals. I took my wife and two teenage daughters to stay in the "quad" room. We were all in together, but it was a big, clean, glamorous room with a great en suite. The breakfast was good too – Italians normally give you a coffee and a biscuit – but this place fills you up till lunchtime, which in Venice means a hefty saving in Euros. Marina, the owner is eminently welcoming, and will help you with travel arrangements. The location too is fabulous – you don’t need to be next to St Mark’s – it’s nice to be off the main drag, and everything in this city is walkable. We’re definitely going back.

Room was very large (for 4 people). The two ladies at the main desk didn't speak much English, but were very very nice and we were able to eventually communicate what we needed and they were happy to help. Breakfast was continental but good (and free in a very expensive city). The hotel was not as close to the boat drop off stop as I was lead to believe thru the website, and we NEVER would have found it had not a nice man on the boat led us there. This was a 20 minute walk down many narrow passages with LOTS of luggage and lots of people, hauling it over many bridges (up stairs on each bridge)- we were covered in sweat and very tired by the time we got to the hotel. It is like finding your way thru a maze, walking in Venice. I recommend bringing as little luggage as possible to Venice, and you have to request an escort to the hotel to guide you and help carry your luggage.

Highly recommend this hotel, has more of a b&b feel than a hotel. The rooms, of which theres only 4, have a beautiful venetian feel, very roomy and very comfortable, and has retained the old charm of the original building. Not that hard to find, as some have noted. if you have a map and can find your way to campo santa maria fortuna (which isn't that hard) its easy to find. In all made our already awesome venice trip that little bit more special

It was our first visit to Italy and we stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is in a good location...basically centrally located between San Marco Plaza and the Rialto Bridge. Staff is friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, but honestly it's more like staying at someone's house than in a hotel. We really didn't get a feeling of privacy while staying here, other guests could be heard coming and going, and conversations in the reception area woke us up in the morning. Pretty good value for Venice, but not great.

Venice was our last stop on our two week tour of Italy and these accomodations were the most poor of any that we had. It was hard to locate, down a dark alley, and I would have felt scared if I were alone to stay here. We booked it on price alone and because we were needing quad accomodations our selections were limited. The bathroom had been recently updated, but the sleeping room was very old and some of the beams in the ceiling were held together with metal reinforcements, so it didn't feel all that safe. The breakfast accomodations were very basic and similar to most of the places that we stayed.

A beautiful small hotel. Very "Venice." Staff does not speak much English, so if that is a concern for you be warned. They are however, most welcoming and very helpful. Our room was beautiful, with two balconies over the canal running behind the hotel. Breakfast was nothing special, but served with a smile. My suggestion for getting there ... ask for directions taking a water taxi to Campo San Giovanni E Paolo, which is just half a block from the hotel. GREAT cafes in this square as well!!!!

We arrived late at night and they still were very courteous and friendly. They promptly showed us to our rooms and had literature about places to eat and what to see that were in close walking distance. It was essentially as presented in the descriptions provided by the host. Would we stay there again yes it was easy to walk to St Mark's square and there were many resturants and cafes close to the location. The air conditioning was very efficient. Also if you wanted to walk along the edge of the bay it was only a few steps away. The only thing that was awkward was although they maybe polyglots English was not a language they spoke. It did make it hard to ask questions since we were only viable in English and Spanish. We meet a number of couples who were traveling together, but only one family was staying there when we were there.

THis was my first stay in Venice and I could not find the Locanda upon my arrival and ended up calling for someone to come and get me. I Was put in another hotel for the first night due to a booking conflict but I was forgiving because I was escorted to the alternative location and had a balcony view over a square. Marina is extremely gracious as is her sister? and the other woman who helps out. English is not their first language so there could be potential miscommunication and I had a mosquito problem in my room. The breakfast is wonderful with fruit and cereal offered in addition to the ubiquitious rolls and yogurt. The house is beautiful as the owner is also an antiques dealer. I recommend this place to any traveller although be sure to take your time and arrive in vencie in the early afternoon so you have time to find the locanda without worrying about it getting dark or anything.

This was my tenth sojourn in Venice, and Locanda Ca' del Console is among the best hotels I've frequented. Located in a genuinely historic structure with water gate, immediately adjacent to bridge and motoscafo landing, period furnishings including Murano chandeliers, Burano lace at table, exceleent situation between Campi Sta Maria Formosa and Zanipolo, short walks to San Marco and Rialto, San Zaccaria and Fondamente Novo vaporetto stops. Wonderfully furnished bedrooms.

Our stay in Locanda Ca' del Console was truly a magnificient expierence. I was traveling with my husband and two daughters and it turned out to be a very enriching expierence. The rooms are richly decorated, the staff courteous and friendly beyond description beside the language barrier, the breakfast is unbelievably good, the location excellent (right next to a small canal where you can board water taxis)and the feeling that you are actually staying at home because the owner or the housekkeper gives you keys of your room the entire front entrance to the hotel and also the keys of the whole building from the street. In short if you are staying in Venice and you do not stay at this hotel you are bound to miss out an important cultural and historical expierence. The only challenge is to get their from the Rialto bridge stop but in our case the owner (Marina) was kind to send her son to the stop to escort us back to the hotel.

Perfectly located in the heart of the city it's just a 10 minute walk to the Piazza, Fte. Nove (heading Murano, Burano etc), S. Zaccaria (Lido, Giudecca etc). The warm welcome, the cordial treatment and - last but not least - the keys (house, floor, room) in my pocket gave me the feeling of being at home. It was a wonderful stay and I just can recommend this Venetian-style furnished hotel with it's absolutely up-to-date bathroom facilities. Thank you very much for a couple of very nice days!

Despite the astronomical Venetian price level, Locanda Ca'del Console offered excellent value for money. The staff were very helpful and sympathetic and the carefully restored historical premises at an excellent location quite astonishing. It would have been even nicer to have a view overlooking the canal instead of the inner yard, but this really does not count as a complaint. Overall, we found Locanda Ca'del Console a very positive surprise offering much more than expected.

The staff spoke some English and were very welcoming, showing me how to get in and out, time for breakfast, etc. The room was clean but tiny, designed for a single traveler. Overall, there were no issues with the room.

We had to accept an overbooking for our rooms as a result of an insufficient information towards our hosts - however, they did their best to settle everything . Regarding a 2-days stay that meant an unnecessary inconvenience.

A lovely place! Nice spacious room for us three grown-ups. A pity the hotel did not respond to our (repeated) email-request for guidelines to get there! But ofcourse we finally found our way and were welcomed warmly.

We spent 5 days there during Carnival, and we just loved it! The warm welcoming, the efforts made for a wonderful decoration, the landlady's free invitation for a Venetian evening in the lobby, tasting all kinds of delicious local products... we really felt welcomed and also felt sharing part of the magic of the town ! We highly recommend this place which is perfectly situated !!!

We booked QUAD room at this place because of the photo shown in venere and "IC" symbol. But landlord e-mail later that they booked us 2 double rooms for us. We thought they were different rooms in the same building. But the actual place was totally different from the photo. Though it was clean and convenient but the rooms condition were far below the pictures. So, Venere or landlord should make it clear to customers if you will assign rooms different from the picture shown in venere web. I would say the with such quality we should pay 100 euro max instead of 200 euro (though it is easter period).

A very good house with friendly personal. In the heart of Venice, calm and only five minutes to a lot of famous places. Thanks a lot for the days in this house. We will return.

It would be hard to find on one's own. Fortunately the owner will meet you at the boat. The hostess is very charming and accomodating. Use of computer to access e mail is offered, as well.

We were offered the choice of a very small double room at the Locanda or a newly-developed apartment near San Felice. Took the apartment, which was spacious, confortable, clean, well equipped and quite delightful. Wanted to stay longer. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
