Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Hotel location was a short walk from the Piazzale Roma, so very convenient for the airport bus and vaporetto. It's not difficult to find though we walked past it the first time as the sign is not that prominent. We stayed in an 'economy' room which was an adequate size with a decent bathroom (shower over bath). Price was a bit more than we would normally spend on a hotel but probably good value for Venice. Highly recommended.

I stayed at this hotel with my wife, prior to a Mediterranean cruise. The facility was exactly as described by other guests on various websites and it fully met my expectations. My only suggestion to the owners of Alloggi Marinella would be to post on the hotel's website a detailed map showing how to get to the hotel, on foot, from Piazzale Roma. Venice, with its myriad of canals, bridges and narrow streets can be quite confusing to tourists. Overall - I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Venice.

The room was adequate, but very overpriced. The "breakfast buffet" consisted of juice, coffee, toast, and jam, by far the skimpiest and cheapest we had in Italy.

Locanda Marinella exceeded expectations. It was close to Piazza Roma, so an outstanding choice for those leaving for/returning from a cruise. The room was exceptionally quiet and beautifully renovated by two personable brothers. The neighborhood is charming with several excellent restaurants just steps away. No doubt we will stay there on our next visit to Venice.

The perfect place for a visit to Venice. The hotel is within a two minute walk of Plaza Roma just like advertised. You couldn't ask for a nicer place and Nick was the perfect host. We were with friends who were to leave Venice after a one day visit but had travel issues and had to unexpectedly spend the night in Venice. Nick spent the whole afternoon working to find them a place for the night since his hotel was booked. After finding them the most beautiful apartment for the night he even walked them to the location so they wont get lost. Nicks hotel was beautiful and and the perfect place to spend time in Venice. I cant say enough about how great our visit was. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Venice and will certainly return on our next visit.

This was our 1st experience with Venice and an excellent choice for accommodation. The owner/manager was exceptionally welcoming, helpful and efficient and the location near Piazzale Roma was within easy/short walking distance from the train station and the main cruise ship port. Those with limited mobility especially with luggage may have difficulty with the steps on the two bridges from the station but this is about as good as it gets on the island - and it avoids the necessity/expense of water transportation (and possible hazardous entry to a boat in choppy waters for those with mobility problems). For best access from the station, turn right after exiting the front of the station and follow signs carefully to Piazzale Roma. A large scale map of that small area would still help for the last lap to the hotel (over the bridge with a fork in it). Rooms were charming (we had a 2-bedroom unit for the 3 of us) and the location serves well as a base for touring by foot or by water. The very basic breakfast offers the possibility to meet other travellers in the intimate breakfast room. If travelling by train, taking a cruise or just touring, this is a great place to stay to experience the old Venice.

Compact hotel but very clean and nice staff. Our room was in the main building downstairs and next to the breakfast area so there was some noise quite early in the morning (breakfast from 8am). This wasn't a real problem for us as we wanted to be up and out to make the most of our stay. The Hotel is situated on a very quiet street so no noise at night.Would definately recommend and use again as it is very convenient if arriving and departing at Piazzalle Roma or the train station.

We liked this hotel. It's not in the heart of Venice, but that was fine with us. It was near Plaza Roma (land bus to the airport and water bus/taxi to the rest of Venice) and walkable from the rail station. Our room was in a second building; it was was very nice (recent remodel and had a sitting room). The staff was very helpful. Leaving luggage on-site for an afternoon departure from the city was not a problem. Worked out great for out trip.

It's very near to Piazzale Roma, and the university areas which have many good restaurants with the price acceptable. Good holyday for family or a couple. The room is nice with the conditioner. The only inconvenience is do not have internet inside the room, you have to use it in the breakfast room. I've enjoyed my holyday in Marinella.

I spent two nights here in September 2011. While not a picturesque location, it is convenient to the train, bus, and vaporetto stations. Very clean, comfortable bed, quiet at night, good bathroom facilities, basic breakfast, pleasant and helpful staff. Would be nice if I could have found CNN or similar among the hundreds of channels on the TV. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Had some very nice antique furniture in the public area (if only I could have snuck it into my bags!!!).

Rooms and bathrooms absolutely spotless, you have to go through front door to appreciate......buildings on this street very old and not much to look at from outside, lovely courtyard in back where we had a nice continental (not full, nothing hot, as we had expected) but adequate breakfast, cereal and croissants. Our room was right next to the breakfast room with windows to the street, so we couldn't really open the shutters w/o being exposed, and couldn't give highest rating for quietness, could hear cups chinking and door closing, not really a problem as not during sleeping hours. Had a feeling when we arrived that our name was not on the registry, and we were given the "emergency backup room" as it was the only room on the first floor.......however it was a comfortable one night stay and would recommend to others. The staff were extremely helpful and allowed us to leave our luggage there after checkout and even gave us a key to get back in if no-one was in the office. The only problem was finding it in the first place, it truly is only two minutes from the square, but everyone we asked sent us a different direction and instead of going over one bridge, we must have done eight or ten and took two hours to find. If only the directions had said to look for the Best Western (Olympia I think)and head left and right from there we would have found it a lot easier.

Very good hotel i Venice with very nice staff. We stayed here for to nights before our cruise, and the location is perfect and near the harbour. Good restaurants to eat nearby the hotel. A little bit far from the main attractions, but you can easily reach all interestings attrations by vaparetto. After the cruise we stayed 5 nights near the St Marcus Square - much more expensive and half as good. Will stay at Marinella again if ever going back to Venice. Good value for money! Recommended!

We stayed 5 days and were so glad we were away from the Piazza San Marco area. We walked everywhere (20 minutes to Accademia Bridge). Very convenient to the train station or the direct bus to the airport, without having to pull your luggage up and down too many bridges. Every evening, we felt like we were coming back to the real Venice as we walked along people carrying groceries or schoolchildren coming home. We had also chosen this B and B because of the garden but it was too rainy to have breakfast outside. However, nice to look at trees and grass when you open your shutters.

It would have been helpful to know in advance that the office/check-in desk is staffed only from 8:30 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon, with a long lunch break in the middle. Great Hotel We arrived in Venice very late in a raining day. Take Bus No.5 to final destination, very cost & time efficiency. This hotel is only 5 minutes away from bus terminal. Checking the map for new comer to Venice is mission impossible, esp. in such a rainy night. To ask is the simplest way. We did not take any single wrong step to find the hotel. The hotel located in a very quiet street but close to many restaurant. The hotel staff is very warm, answering every questions we have. We booked a double room in backyard of the hotel. The room is very spacious having a big sitting room & well equipped kitchen. We even got our own yard with chairs. It'll not be boring to stay in the hotel for a whole day without going anywhere. The breakfast is fair, the environment is more attractive. In the fine day, we could even have the breakfast in the yard. The location of the hotel is very good. Not in the tourists attraction area that allow you enjoy the peace & quiet of Venice but walking distance to San Marco Plaza. Will defenitely come back to this hotel if having chance travel to Venice again.

As a first time visitor to Venice, I found it hard to find my way around the city, so it took me a while to find this hotel, after getting off the bus at Piazzale Roma. Although the hotel provides a very clear map of its location, you might not be able to discern which direction you should be heading from the bus depot. It is especially unpleasant if you have heavy luggage to carry. Better direction would be: From the bus depot, head towards the public WC, away from the direction of Ferrovia (train station). Please note that they serve simple breakfast items (croissant, fruit, cereal, yogurt, tea, coffee, and juice), and no hot food. I hope this helps.

My wife and I cannot speak too highly of the staff and service of this small but extremely friendly establishment. We were travelling back to Austrlia from 3 years in Kuwait and decided to stop off in Venice and take a cruise. We found this hotel on the internet and booked on the basis of the reviews and we were not disappointed. We spent 3 nights there before the cruise and 3 nights when we returned and the total experience was fantastic and it made our time in Venice very special as we had not been there before. We are mature age visitors and all the key places we wanted to see were within a comfortable walking distance from the hotel. As we were returning to the hotel after the cruise the staff allowed us to store our suit cases at the hotel which in turn allowed us to make our purchases on the cruise without being overloaded. The advice we were given by the innkeepers on places to see was first class. The hotel is very central to the Piazzale Roma bus terminal and the main water bus/taxi terminal and using the porter service from the terminal made it easier in transporting luggage to the hotel. The quietness of the area surrounding the hotel and canal directly behind the establishment helped to contribute to the feel of a restful stay in Venice. We highly recommend the hotel and the friendliness of the staff and if you are disappointed you are either very demanding on an excellent value for money hotel or very hard tp please.....Wayne Lyons

The Hotel Alloggi Marinella is located in Piazalle de Roma which is the perfect location for those who need/want to stay a couple of days before going on a cruise leaving from Venice. The cruise terminal is very close to the Piazalle de Roma and usually there are free shuttle buses from there to the cruise terminal. Piazalle de Roma is also the train terminal, bus terminal, and near to the vaporetti stations to the grand canal. The hotel was 3 minutes walking from where the bus from the aeroport stopped, but still extremely quiet, very clean and spacious, and the people were very kind and polite. They allowed us to leave the bags there after the check-out so that we could go for a stroll in Venice before getting into the cruise. Very intimate and welcoming hotel.

When you arrive late at night at either the train station or by car or airport bus at the adjacent Piazza Roma, it's a big plus when you don't have to drag your luggage through the Venice night trying to find your hotel. For the Marinella you just walk into the corner of P. Roma then cross a bridge following the crowds South for 50 meters or so. Turn right into the quiet oasis that is the filled-in canal street that is home to this lovely little hotel. Get your free Venice map and handy tips from the staff. Like taking the #2 waterbus down to Rialto and San Marco square, rather than the #1 (which is what most tourist books say), as #2 follows the same route but doesn't stop so frequently. Or viewing Venice not from the busy campanille in San Marco square, but from the quiet island opposite, which you can again reach by the #2 waterbus. This tower with spectacular views all round has a handy lift too. Have a simple breakfast in the hotel's lovely courtyard, contemplating another great day in this amazing city.

Alloggi Marinella is an outstanding little hotel. On a street (rio) that looks just a bit unpromising (but proves incredibly quiet!) one opens the door to Marinella to find a charmingly and lovingly restored traditional Venetian interior. The garden is a heavenly spot for breakfast, especially when the prolific jasmine is blooming (June) and perfuming the air. It's a short walk to my favorite campo in Venice, Santa Margherita. Nicolo is a lively and exceedingly gracious host. The rooms are kept immaculate. I love this place.

We only stayed for two nights, but this hotel was a find. Nick (one of the owners) was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel was spotlessly clean and in excellent condition. The pictures of the outside do not do it justice. We stayed on the top floor of the main building with a room to the back courtyard. Very quiet for Venice. The garden courtyard was peaceful and relaxing. The breakfast was not large, but it works. The breakfast server was really a sweet woman. The directions could be a little more specific on which bridge to cross!

My husband and I traveled to Venice to catch a cruise ship for the Greek Island. We thought it would be a perfect time to spend a few days in Venice. The only complaint we had were the directions to the hotel. We had a very trying travel time, with long lay overs and were very tired, so when we got off the bus and the directions said to cross the bridge, and there were so many bridges. Needless to say, we moved luggage over several bridges that night. Other than that, we loved our room and when we had to change our travel plans we called back from the cruise ship to book another room as quickly as possible. The staff were very helpful. Great location to get around and so close to catch the bus for the airport or cruise ship.

It is one of the coziest and most pleasant hotels I've ever stayed in. Located on a quiet street (no canals) just round the corner from Piazzale Roma. 5 min. walk to the railway or bus stations, as well as to the vaporetto. Rather far from Piazza San Marco, yet one can reach it in circa 25 min. Staff very friendly and helpful (multilinual). Drawbacks: absolutely disastrous coffee for breakfast!!! walls are not too soundproof either

Pleasant and classy hotel. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Both guys at the reception were very helpful regarding recomendations of places to eat, shop, sight seeing. Hotel is located very close to train, bus and boat stations. Rooms are very clean and bathrooms are modern and spacious which is a great deal, especially for Venice. This was not my first visit to Venice and I must say that Allogi Marinella is the best hotel I have expirienced in that city.

We chose this hotel for the Venice portion of our honeymoon, and I was very pleased. This was our first time in Venice, and I wasn't sure upon booking how far from Piazza San Marco and the Rialto bridge we really were, but we chose to stay close to the train station to save money and so we wouldn't have to lug our suitcases far. We were pleasantly suprised! The hotel is VERY close to the train station, and was easy to find on a map we had. The welcoming was WONDERFUL....we were welcomed by a younger man, who had alot of energy and was extremely pleasant. Our room was not in the main building, but in back, and he provided us with our own apartment key. He gave us a map of Venice, marked all the vaporetto stops we'd need to take to get to various locations, and he answered any and all questions we had. He brought us to our "apartment" and showed us everything about it. He was always very kind. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the area was very quiet. It was about a 20 minute walk to Piazza San Marco, but to be honest, it was fun! We never took a vaporetto except to get to Murano! Venice truly is a walking city. There is so much to see around you and Venice is so beautiful, I don't think we would have seen half of what we saw if it wasn't for staying in the area we did. We had more fun exploring the streets and various areas than seeing the specific tourist sites. The only downside to this hotel is that breakfast is lacking. I am not comparing this to a "traditionally American" type of breakfast, but to other breakfasts I've had in Italy. This was my second trip to Italy, and out of the hotels I've been in, Marinella has the least to offer for breakfast. But we didn't mind, as we viewed the hotel as a place to sleep. Overall, We were very pleased with our stay, and felt we had a great value for our money, and we would definitely stay here again if we return to Venice.

WARNING!!! Please make sure that you are arriving before 3pm. If you don't, make sure the hotel is aware of this. My husband and I had flight delays and arrived later than expected. There was nobody there to open the door for us. Cell phone communications are nearly impossible in another country so needless to say it was very, very difficult to find a way to get into our hotel. Fortunately, as we were waiting outside the front door, a very nice couple from England that had already checked in were entering their room and assisted us in contacting the owner. Once we were tended to, our stay was fabulous. A nice man name Jacopo arrived to take us to our room. The room was great. The shower is a little bit small, that is my only complaint. I am not a big person and it was difficult for me to fit in the shower. Aside from that everything was very clean and charming. Breakfast was simple, but delicious. On our first morning, Nicolo, assisted us with a map. Please take his advice. He gave us great advice on how to attempt walking all the sights in a day. He was super helpful. The hotel is very easy to reach if you arrive by bus and reasonably close to the train. My husband and I are in our 30's and we were able to walk with our luggage from the train station and Piazale Roma. It isn't close to Piazza San Marco, but we were able to walk there in a reasonable amount of time. One more word of advice....Don't leave your room without a map. I am very good with directions, but without a map you will get lost! It's fine getting lost in the daytime but getting lost at night in some of the back streets can be very frustrating. Definately stay at the Alloggi Marinella, it's a great place to stay!

We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend Alloggi Marinella to others. It was very close to the bus terminal and practically just over the new bridge from the train terminal. It was around the corner from a dry cleaner that will wash, dry and fold a load of clothes for about 20 euro. A good Gelato place and Trattoria Veneziana is around the corner. It's a bit of a walk to the Rialto and S. Marco but I would rather have a short walk to my hotel after arriving with my luggage, then trying to be central and dragging my luggage over all the bridges and streets.

The hotel location is great. It is tucked away on a side street with a quiet courtyard, and yet it is a short walking distance from the bus station, the train station, one of the main vaporetto stations. It was our first time in Venice, and we were able to find the hotel easily from the train station without having to drag our luggage in the maze of Venetian alleys. It was also convenient to get to the bus station in the early hours to go to the airport. The hotel is also a short walking distance to Campo Santa Magherita where we found good places for food and drinks. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable, worth the price. The staff was friendly and helpful. Nicolo gave us a lot of great local restaurants - delicious, reasonably priced, and not touristy.

We stayed for 3 nights in the double room in the main building up in the attic. It was a very clean & spacious room with everything that we needed. The shower was particularly good, very hot & powerful. The breakfast was a little basic but we were able to eat plenty. We found the staff very helpful and friendly. On our arrival they gave us a map & lots of useful information, like good places to go, which waterbuses to use & which streets to take. It was most informative & helped us make the most of our time in Venice. The location of the hotel was ideal. It was just a short stroll from Piazzale Roma & was in a lovely quiet area. It was also very easy to get to wherever we wanted to go. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and thought it good value for a hotel in Venice. We would stay there again if we return to Venice & will definitely be recommending it to our friends.

This was our first trip to Venice (3 nights). Hotel in ideal, quiet location but easy to get to major sights by walking or boat. Room comfortable and bathroom beautiful, and a good welcome. To help locate hotel from Pzl. Roma bus station: head for the trees, go through walkway to face canal and turn right. Go over bridge with Hotel Arlecchino on your right side, then take next road right (tourist Info Office on corner). If we are in Venice again, we will definitely stay here (but keep it quiet or we won't get in!)

We were very happy with our selection. The owners, Danielle & Nick, are exceptionally nice. One even helped us walk our luggage to the bus terminal. Location is near the trains, car rental and bus. It worked out well for us. Hotel is in a quiet, safe residential area. We recommend staying here rather than in the center city with all the noise but you will need a vaporetto ride to get around.

We stayed at a building adjoining the hotel. Each room had an entrance on ground level, a stairway up, and then the bedroom, bathroom and an extra room ("living room"?). So we got a decent deal out of it but we didnt really use the spare room that much. But it just goes to show that this was not a cramped room or anything. Quick assessment: PROs - convenient central location near P. di Roma - very friendly and helpful staff (we left our luggage stored for a full day after checking out whilst we had some spare time before the flight) - adequate breakfast - clean rooms - quiet location in a backstreet from the canals CONs - couldnt quite get the AC to work but this is just a minor gripe Overall, heartily recommended!

The staff at the hotel were very helpful, our plane was diverted from Venice to Milan and a member of staff (sorry have forgotten his name) was waiting late into the night for our arrival. As it turned out we were unable to get to Venice that night and we arrived the next morning. Despite the room being pre booked on the internet they did not charge us for that night. We booked a superior double room which was very spacious and clean. The location of the hotel was good, close to bus/train stations and easily walking distance to the sites of Venice, the hotel is situated on a quiet street and canal so getting to sleep at night was a breeze. The staff provided us with a map, some recommended sites to see and the right places to eat without being ripped-off. Overall a very good hotel and I would stay there again.

After coming out of St Lucia Railway Station we were not sure about the water taxis, as this was our first time in Venice, and the queue was long, so we walked to the hotel. It was OK for me going up and down the 4 bridges with my case but my wife struggled with her case so I carried both cases up and down the 4 sets of steps. If you have large cases the water taxi is a must. It was about a 15 min. casual walk. A brand new bridge has been built linking the station with the bus terminal, but was not operational. Once this is open, the walk will be easy. Nick was there to greet us at the hotel and showed us to a lovely 2-bedroom unit in a separate block at the back of the hotel. The buildings were over 100 years old and the rooms had been very tastefully renovated and decorated to rival any 5-star hotel including the bathroom. The hotel is not very central for St Marks but there are water taxis down the Grand Canal, and you can purchase a daily ticket, though we preferred to walk. On our way to St Marks we ‘discovered’ Campo Santa Margherita not far from the hotel with a large choice of inexpensive restaurants and bars. This was a great place to eat in the evening. We were departing Venice via Ryanair from Treviso airport. The bus station, Piazzala Roma, literally a 2-min. walk from the hotel, has special buses just for the Ryanair flights. As we had an early morning flight this was one of the main reasons for choosing the hotel, but the hotel offered us much more than we expected. The only down-side was the breakfast - for the price there should have been more choice!

The hotel staff were friendly and gracious. Our room was larger than what I have experienced in other Venice lodgings. My only concern was at night - having to step over someone who was asking for money in front of the archway leading to rooms behind, I did not feel quite safe, although to be fair, that may have happened anywhere in the city.

I stayed in Venice for 5 days and found that Marinella is the perfect spot for a vacation. It is situated close to the railway station which makes it easy to reach with your luggage. Also, it is a perfect place to start your trip to Venice. I always try walking to San Marco from here which is a typical Venetian travel mode. The staff here are real friendly and nice.(infact one day I found they had cleaned my table which I always leave so messy, and arranged everything properly). The rooms are a little small, but it should be ok, if you are single/couple/small family. You can't find anything at this price. They serve breakfast everyday in the morning which is really nice. You can also ask the staff if you need some tips with your travel, they'll be happy to help you. There are some restaurants close to the canal which is pretty decent, but if you want better service you should go closer to the Accademia bridge. There is also a Coop supermarket in Piazza le Roma (about 10 mins walk). Here you can find boxed pasta, veg and fruit salads etc. Overall, Alloggi Marinella is a perfect place to stay in Venice for a decent price.
