This hotel is overrated and is not what it says it is. Do not stay here if you can't climb several flights of stairs there is no lift We were given a double room we booked but had single beds and no bathroom. We had to go down a hall to use toilet and shower and then when we got there we discovered that the shower was so small that we could could not have one. A hot shower is a must when your travelling no coffee facilities.. Would not return here

Just a crummy hotel, we were very disappointed.its not our first time in Venice, so we are not naive ..but this place is truly awful. Details: overwhelming smell of artificial room fragrance..what are they hiding?? Room size .. Tiny, only room for the bed, nowhere for suitcases, climb over the bed to get to a minuscule balcony, no chair Dingy in room bathroom, poor lighting. We checked in at one location, were sent a few doors further on the street to our room. Carpets filthy and worn through on the 3 flights of stairs. On a good note: yes, it is close to the train station and we walked everywhere, did not even once use a vaporetto. But never again.

After visiting Venice, I realized that if you are traveling with heavy lugguage or not very fit to walk long distances over many bridges, it may be best to find hotels near the central station as even if you come by bus from the airport or train, you need to walk minimum to the hotel, if it is located very close to the station s it was the case with us. The rooms in the hotel were very small, but functional. They were clean and the bed sheets and towels very clean and spotless. However, the housekeeping did not really impress me as they did not even make the bed and just covered with the bed spread, which does not say much. The breakfast was frugal, but not bad. Just okay. The staff were helpful and some more and others we just doing their jobs. If you are the in Venice for short stay like 2,3 days it may be better to find some hotel close to the station, but if you are there longervthen you may like to find something which is either closer to St Mark's Square or Realto bridge or near Formenta St Mary. You could choose hotel on the canal if you like that view but be careful as some of them are not in the best parts of the canals. There is lots of walking to do in Venice, sopls carry comfortable walking shoes and clothes and yes travel very light if you have to cart your luggage around.

If you have any difficulty climbing stairs be sure to find out which room you are offered. Mine was up five flights of stairs and I had to carry my luggage up as there is no lift and no one to help. As I have difficulty with a knee it meant I stayed out all day and didn't come back to the hotel for rests as I would have liked. This hotel, while adequate, was certainly not 3 star. It is very overpriced but maybe not for Venice though I can't say. The breakfast, however, was very good and the breakfast room and staff very pleasant.

I booked 2 rooms. Hotel staff decided that the single guest in 1 room should pay 1/3 the cost , the double pay 2/3 cost. The double room was smaller, smelled of tabacco suppressant (febreeze or equivalent) and air conditioning stopped working thru night.

The room had ants everywhere! The room also had a bad odor. The service did not change towels everyday, and when we requested for clean towels, they were unable to provide them. The shared bathroom was nasty - there were bugs all over the ceiling. One of the showers did not work properly and resulted in water all over the floor. I would never stay here again.

This is a great location right near the rail station and away from the crowds. We had a triple room and shared bathroom a found the faciliteies generally very clean. The breakfast buffet was very basic the staff memeber looking after the breakfast was quite slow, its not htat hard to keep the breakfast ingredients stocked. The older gentleman on reception was at times quite rude and blunt but another younger man was very welcoming.. I would find no reason not to stay here again it fulfilled hte purpose but I recommend some of the staff be a little more welcoming your in hositality and service sector which means be nice and welcoming!!!

Brilliant location right beside the main railway station St Lucia (no noise from the trains and we got there from Traviso for 2.40 euro) and 5 mins from a Vaporetto stop and shops. Google Earth Images lets you look right into the location. Also easy to find your way back from town, just follow signs to Ferrovia (railway) -finding your way in Venice can be tricky! Not for the old and weak tho, our room was a steep climb to 3rd floor but the view from the balcony was great. Room was small but spotless, bathrooms adequate (theres bathrooms at either end of the corridor).Cleanliness depends on other customers, too! We stayed 5 days and had to ask for fresh towels - got them, too, straight away. Breakfast room was congested and noisy but the back room was better.Cereal, pastries, fruit juice and coffee - the usual continental. I think it was a good deal in Venice, which is a very expensive city to stay in, and we had a super time there on a limited budget. Never even tried to turn on the tv!If you like classical music, watch out for posters in the hotel, we went to a Vivaldi concert and it was a treat. Reception staff spoke very good English and were helpful. We fell in love with Venice -tho I wouldn't like to go at the height of the season, crowds, heat and mosquitoes must be bad.Bring your mosquito repellent!

Great hotel. Only minutes away from Santa Lucia Station so perfect if you arrive by train. The bus station is only 10 minutes away so great as well to take the bus to Marco Polo airport. Great area with a lot of restaurants. Breakfast was really good with a lot of choice (cereals, yogurt, pastries, croissants....). Room was big and clean. Only problem was that we could hear the people next door speaking really loud and especially hear the loud hair dryer at 7 in the morning.... Otherwise, really good value, staff very helpful and polite (which is great given the attitude of other italian people in Venise...was a bit dissapointed by this as it doesn't make it very romantic when people are rude like this...). Would dfinitely recommend this hotel (just bring ear plugs in case you have noisy neighbours!)

Public bathrooms and showers not kept up, had order and only cleaned in the morning so by night is was out of toilet paper and dirty. This hotel is very conveniently located, only a couple of minutes from the train station (which means no dragging your luggage over those quaint bridges) and about one minute from the Grand Canal. The reception staff was very professional and competent, my room was relatively spacious, everything was very clean, the location was quiet (out of season anyway), the price was a bargain (again, out of season) and the breakfast was quite acceptable. We had a wonderful stay in Venice. We loved the location of the hotel, very close to the St. Lucia train station, even shorter than what the map shows, so we missed it at first! It's adjacent to the train station, but it's very quiet and actually a wonderful location, since you don't have to drag your luggage far away through the streets of Venice. Clean, nice service, nice small breakfast. We booked a room with shared bathroom, and to our surprise there were 3 bathrooms just in front our room, all very clean and quiet, not a problem at all. No elevators, but we're a young couple traveling light, so that wasn't a problem either. Good walk to St. Mark square, very safe, and you can get a vaporetto ride to anywhere just down the street. Price was fair, evertyhing in Venice is very expensive, so it was the best deal we could get. Only minor issue: few mosquitos at night, but we brought repelent lotion, so we did well.

Agli Artisiti is an excellent location as we were worried that it would be long way to the main tourist attractions ie St Mark's Sq. Nowhere is too far in Venice! No noise from the station. The lack of a lift could be a problem but my mother managed the stairs fine (she's 76); the breakfast area was always a bit busy; staff were friendly and helpful; no worries about leaving your luggage on the last day. Rooms maybe a little basic but for the price absolutley fine; beds very comfy and not too far to the bathroom if you haven't an en-suite.

It was fine for a venetian room but there was one problem above all: management. The manager thought it was a good idea for the staff to Hoover the hallways and stairs at 7AM, instead of the after 1030 rule utilised by every other hotel in the world. I had to go out to the hallway to ask her to stop, but she said it was not possible as her manager insisted the cleaning be done in the early morning. She apologised to me later and several staff came forward to tell us of the lunatic decisions of management. On person I did not hear from was, in fact, the management. I had the duty managers (all very lovely and helpful and polite) agree with me and others in our party. The poor girl in the breakfast room, which was too small and had very flimsy tables had to set tables, prepare breakfasts, serve and clear and wash dishes and keep the fruit/veg/bread/ceareal stockd up. She was running round at top speed and doing her best but she could not keep up. It was simply too much for one person. The staff were clearly upset, as was the day manager but I believe there are new owners since the last reviews and it shows. They think they can make it up as they go on but I feel the quality I received was worth 60 euros, not 100. The building works on improving the rooms is a bit shoddy and incomplete so we had exposed brickwork, pipes and electrical cables in the room. My partner was drying her hair and shorted out the electricity using a device designed for low voltages, so the electrician is probably not qualified, or the renovations not tested. One wall was perfectly finished and another was suffering from damp and looked 30 years older, even though recently painted. So, in summary, the rooms are comfortable, the amenities adequate (breakfast room was too small as one had to squeeze in and out of narrowly spaced aisles between tables and the confusing and inexpertly applied system of booking a breakfast slot played havoc with the staff as they could not keep forcing people to

No breakfast, no elevator, shared bathroom. Good location. If you have limited budget and you want to stay just in Venice - it is ok.

this is a property where profit is clearly the motivation. Rooms were of a variable quality. Some bathrooms were unfinished eg: no shower screen, exposed drainage pipes and airconditioners which did not produce cold air. My door was battered and the simple single lever lock so worn that it was a work of art to even get into and out of the room. Coffee at breakast terrible. Still there were some good things like the modernised bathrooms (if they ever got finished!) and very clean sheets.

This hotel is located in a very convenient spot, but it is not on the water. The pictures on the website led me to believe it was overlooking the canal. But, like I wrote, it is in a great location and convenient to everything. It needs an elevator. We were on the 4th floor and there was no elevator.

Excellent value for money (for Venice) and extremely convenient for transport links. Nice and quiet (you can't hear any trains despite being so close to the station). Sharing bathrooms was not a problem at all -- we had a choice of three on our floor just opposite our room and they were spacious and clean. The only problem we had was insect bites, probably made worse by the fact that we had to leave the windows open because the air conditioning wasn't working (they seemed to be actively working on repairing it while we were there). There was someone on reception all day and evening the whole time we were there, and guests going in and out as you would expect from a normal hotel, so I don't understand the comment from the person who missed a train because the hotel was locked up with their luggage inside. I don't see how that could happen. Perhaps things have changed since that person's stay.

You get what you pay for. Clean, but spartan, with a little noise. Convenient location, very close to the train station and water buses.

It was a very nice place at the right price for Venice. They did try and get out of giving us breakfast though. Location right next to the train station was excellent.

Perhaps I did not read the property details correctly, but I did not expect a shared bathroom. At the equivalent of around £40 per night, I do not expect to have to share a bathroom. Apart from this, the accomodation was ok, but I would not recommend it, as it is bad value for money.

We arrived and were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist. Of the two rooms that we had reserved a month earlier, suddenly one was double-booked so I had to sleep on a cot in a cramped double room with my elderly parents. We were assured (a month earlier and also when we arrived) that we had a private bathroom (outside the room) and were given a key for that purpose, only to find other people using it every day!! When they told us we would get a discount for all the trouble, what they meant was that they wouldn't charge us for the room that we didn't get (!!) but we had to pay for the extra cot, and no reduction because of the poor bathroom facilities. We did knock the price down a little, but it was like bargaining in a market stall in Jerusalem. There was not a phone in the rooms either, which we had in every other Venere place that we stayed on the tour. Although as I say the receptionist was nice enough, he didn't grasp the concept of good business practice. We will definitely not go there again!!! But we were in general very happy with all the other places that Venere arranged for us.

We stayed at the Agli Artisti for 6 nights. The location was perfect and the front counter staff were exceptionally accomodating. However, the cleaning ladies were VERY loud in the morning, and the insulation of the building is poor. As such, the street noise and hallway noise was enough to wake even the deepest sleepers. Overall, the cleanliness was great and, again, location is very important. Close to affordable and convenient restaurants/cafes. We would stay there again, but we'd bring earplugs!!!

First of all allow me to tell you the reason i am answering to your important survey many months after my stay at Agli Artisti and it is due to the termination of my trip. My stay at such called "hotel" was acceptable in regular terms i have only a major complain: at the time of my check out i asked the owner if i could leave my lugagge at the front desk for a few hours until the time my train departs, by the time i came back to the hotel (15:20 h) i found it CLOSED, i did not worry myself since i thought the owners would have been "out to lunch" and sat around the dorr to wait for them and the i waite and waited for several minutes, then... for hours, my train left at 19:something and the hotel was kept closed, with no messages or ANYBODY to help me out. The i contacted the tourism officers and they help me to find the owners. They contacted them through their cellular phone and told the officers they had forgotten about me and my belongings. I had to spend another night at that city because of the huge lack of responsability of those people and not to mention about the unconvenience they made me suffer and the total waste of time, the change of plans, etc. Judge by yourself. Thanks. Jesus Cardenas.

We enjoyed our stay at the guesthouse very much. It's location is ideal: close to the train station and vaporetto. The host was friendly and very patient when we asked him about further information on Venice. The only disturbing element was probably the musquitos, but we think it's an overall problem in a city like Venice. Maybe a tip for the host: providing small anti-musquito devices in the rooms, expecially during the summer. Anyway, we'd recommend this guesthouse to friends if they're planning visits to Venice.

If you're looking for a clean place to stay without the frills, this is the place. Comparing prices, this was a good find. It's a lot closer to the train station than I thought. We kept looking for the first street to the left of the station. We passed it up because we thought it was an alley. Little did we know all the alleys are streets there. Perfect place if you're hauling heavy luggage. There is no elevator but they have a hoist to lift your luggage to your floor. We counted 63 steps to our floor. If you don't mind stairs, this is the right place.

Is an amazing place to stay at, literally a minute or two walk away from the Train Station (Venezia S.L.) and from the Grand Canal. Rooms are exceptionally nicely done, though we didn't have an en-suite bathroom, but the private bathroom offered a bit of a sense of privacy that we were looking for. It is a excellent value for money and the staff is extremely friendly.

This is good value accommodation, with clean freshly decorated rooms, but they let themselves down on service. On arrival in the evening we were told someone had overstayed in our room, so we were put in a small staff room with no facilities and a shared bathroom at the far end of a corridor for the first night, and had to wait around till 11.00am the next morning before moving to our en suite room. Both bathrooms we used had a bad problem with smelly drains (despite being modern and very clean), obviously more of an issue in the en suite room! On departure they offered no discount for the first night problem and tried to insist we pay cash, claiming telephone line problems, but eventually accepted cards. This is all such a shame as the position, prices and actual accommoation is good.

- Building is being renovated - Reception area still has to be renewed, you might get a little worried first but rooms are renovated - Bathroom was not inside the room but just in front and private (brand new) - Good location near Ferrovia (train station), which is convenient from the airport and next to several "Vaporetto" lines.
