This was more a guest house than a hotel. However, although small it felt authentically Venetian and the location is excellent once you find your way around the area. The room I was in on the ground floor was very spacious, clean and comfortable but extremely dark - lights needed to be on at all times. The windows were very small and high up. Breakfast room was small and I saw some people have to wait for a table until another couple had finished. Overall though I liked this hotel - it was atmospheric, clean and comfortable and the location was great! It's not for you if you like a modern, light hotel and don't like walking down dark alleys!

Nice hotel in a great little neighborhood. Easy access once you find it - a bit difficult. Great deli and a superb Italian bakery on adjacent corners near the hotel. The owners were pleasant and accommodating. Breakfast was boring. Comfortable beds, very roomy, a safe and fridge in the armoir, and that special view of the Grand Canal from the balcony as pictured. Convenient to the water bus. LOVED VENEZIA!

The hotel is well situated, the area is nice, well deserved by vaporetto, and with a supermarket in the neigbourhood; the breakfast was of a good quality, although the breakfast room a little bit small. Our three person room was nice, quiet, spacious, very good... but very dark. You have to know it before renting. (This was not precised in the website). If you plan to spend all the day outside, that is not a real problem, but if the weather is bad, don't try to stay at home, especially if you are claustrophobic...

The hotel is located close to Rialto Bridge, to St. Mark's Place it is only a fifteen minutes walk. The breakfast was continental, i.e., it contained much more than what you would normally expext in Italy at that time of the day. We would describe the service as very attentive and customer minded. The family room was convenient for a family of four people(children 8 and 6 years old). To sum up, we would recommend the Locanda Arco Antico in particular to families with younger children and mature couples.

We recommend this small hotel for location, convenience, value and its wonderful staff. Our family of two adults and two children used the family room, with a double bed and two singles. The room was very clean and confortable and quite a reasonable size. This hotel was whisper quiet, as there are no cars in Venice, and its just 100 meteres fom the hustle of the main thoroughfares (we slept with the window open in Spring time!) Within easy walking distance to the major sites and the efficient ferry bus service all around the Grand Canal, we found this hotel just ideal. There are plenty of resaurants and bars close by, and of course a Gellateria around the corner! The staff were eager to assist us with our questions and were freindly and courtious. We caught a water taxi to the hotel from the train station for 40 Euro, and it practically dropped us at the door. Forget those big hotels, try this lovely hotel in the heart of Venice for personal service and convenient location. We are looking forward to our return visit!

This was my favorite lodging during our recent trip to Italy. The rooms were beautifully decorated, the bathroom was newly re-done and was beautiful, CLEAN, and spacious. Breakfast was on par with other places we stayed. We had the quad room and it was spacious enough. My inlaws had the double across the hall and were pleased as well. The staff was very helpful with giving directions and dinner recommendatins. While others reported having a hard time finding the property, we did not. First, get a good map of Venice when you arrive (the extra expense at the train station is worth it. We got the blue and white one "storti edition" on the bottom.) When you get off at the San Silvestro vaporetto stop, head for Campo Aponal. When you're there, look left for Ca Mezzo. Go left and follow Ca Mezzo until you reach the bakery and the Vivaldi Restaurant. Look for the small sign pointing a left turn to reach the property near there. Turn left before the Vivaldi restuarant and after the bakery onto Calle Forno. Follow Calle Forno and at the "T" turn right. Look for the arch with "Corte Petriana" on it. The property entrance is there on the right. We found it easily (the sign helped) and found it to be quite convieniant for us. Our only complaint was the lack of room darkening window curtains.

Photos of accomodation may be ok, but we didn't come to know, we have been told to go to a dependance, that was awful. Loud and really not a hotel. To come to your bathroom, you have to cross the little kitchen, while other guest sit there having breakfast....that was not our style.

We were in Venice, my wife and our 2 kids. This is the first time to the city and stay at the hotel. We loved it, both the place and Antico. The people were friendly and always around even late night. Just around the block is a great gelato place. Even small shops and gifts. The location was wonderful, just off the main 'track'. So it was quiet but convenient. Just a walk away was the bridge. The owners of the place very great, they were very helpful and friendly. They helped us to provide best places to visit, eat…etc. They were always on the mark. Would love to return.

We were traveling as a family of 5 so we stayed in the family room. The hotel was a little hard to find at first but once we found it we had no problem getting back to it every day. The rooms were large and clean and the air conditioning worked well. Venice is a town we want to go back to and we definitely will stay here again. Breakfast consisted of rolls with jelly, yogurt and juice. It was well located to all of the sites in Venice. I highly recommend this property.

The location, directions and accomodation were exactly as expected based on your website information. Excellent location. Our room was on the main floor and very quiet but also quite dim. The bathroom was very clean and bright. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was good. The owner arranged for a trip over to Murano to see a glass factory. We accepted the free ride over and were obviously expected to buy something! I would suggest getting there on the very accessible water bus instead and avoid the pressure.

WARNING: do not expect the same level of quality as the description on the web site. The "ECONOMY" rooms are located a few meters from the main building and light-years from the same quality. BEWARE: mold and moisture; cramped kitchen, limited breakfast variety and a shower area barely usable due to being MINISCULE! If you plan to use the toilet, plan to sit down every time, be you male or female. Unless, per chance, you are three feet tall!

This place was a convenient place to stay in Venice because it easy to reach by water bus and it is really in the heart of Venice. Easy walking distance to San Polo and San Marco. My largest concern is that the rooms are located on the second floor over a tavern and the pub patrons sometimes were very loud and out partying on the streets. The family room is ok, but only really fits 2 adults and 2 kids, there is no space for 4 adults if you are booking this room to save money. The washrooms were small and smelly (from the water I think). Most of the water ways in Venice smell pretty bad, and any room in Venice probably has this problem. A little bit musty and moldy. The best thing about the place is the communual kitchen which has a ready to use coffee machine and there is also a regular size refrigerator to use. Overall a very clean and good budget accomidation. However if you are coming to Venice on a romantic get away stay somewhere else.

We arrived at midnight, to a very warm welcome! The only problem was finding Locanda from the San Silvestro vaporetto stop . . . this was our first visit to Venice, so we were not used to finding our way around. We had a great time, especially being so close to the centre but in the quiet of the 'backstreets'. We will recommend Locanda to others as an excellent place to stay for the friendly, helpful staff, location, accommodation and value for money.

The room we stayed in was next to the street which led to the traghetto stop (which never ran) so at times it could be a little noisy as people tried to find it, but nothing really bad. An excellent place. Well run and exquisitly decorated. I am not easy to please and I was so. We will definately stay there again!

We could here some of the street traffic at night- but not really a problem. Location is superb in a very nice quarter and quite central in Venice. Self-service breakfast very convenient!

Marco was very welcoming and speaks excellent English which made up for my terrible Italian. They gave us a ground floor twin room which was great for my elderly mother and myself (didn't have to drag our bags up the stairs). Breakfast room was upstairs but Mum coped with the stairs OK for that. The decor is lovely, bathroom was spectacular. Breakfast was help yourself and plentiful - cereal, croissants, that packet toast stuff you get in Europe, cheese, plenty of spreads, juice, coffee, etc. Location is terrific, just one street away from the traghetti stop on the Grand Canal, and only 4-5 minutes walk to Ponte Vecchio. I look forward to staying here again.

Bon Nadal i Feliç any nou a tothom.

Everything was OK. The only issue: our room was not ready for us at the moment we arrived and the host arranged a room in much better hotel nearby. The problem was: we were so tired that we could not enjoy that night with windows on Grand Canal much. And on the next day we needed to move to Locanda Arco Antico. The host, Marco, made all he could to help us, arranged our luggage to be moved in our absence, thanks to him. But when you have only 3 nights in Venice, it is not very good to spend them in different places. Also I am not sure Marco was honest when he explained to us the reason for the inconvenience (apparently previous guest took forgot to leave the key; from some words he said this seemed to be not true).

Had a wonderful time in the "Casanova Room". The whirlpool bath is brilliant after long distance walking. A detailed map would be great for easy finding the location. Enjoy Venice, enjoy "Locanda Arco Antico" Beer-Sport-Group "Casanova" p.s. visitors tip: "Taverna da Baffo" tel 041 520 88 62, Campiello Sant'Agostin 2346, open 7am-2am, Monday to Saturday). Named after Casanova's licentious poet pal, Giorgio Baffo, and lined with his rhymes in praise of 'the round arse' and other parts of the female body, this bar has a young, chirpy feel. In summer the tables outside are an especially pleasant spot to sip on a spritz or two.

I was disappointed with not being told that the bathroom was up a flight of stairs and I had taken my elderly parents. Otherwise excellent location.

The services of this B&B are excellent. The situation is ideal to reach the districts of the monuments easily. Station of Vaporetto to 100 meters. On the other hand, we had difficulty in find. We stayed at the Locanda Arco Antico on the last three nights of our honeymoon, and we couldn't have thought of a lovelier way to end our trip. It was a lovely bed and breakfast, with a knowledgeable staff, and very clean, beautifully decorated room, a marble-lined bathroom complete with a towel-warmer, and a very nice little breakfast, all for a great price! This was a decent hotel. The staff seemed nice enough, however the owner decided to get into a loud shouting match with another employee outside the dining room at breakfast, resulting in the female employee crying- very unprofessional of the owner. The rooms were quite small yet nice enough. There is satellite but even the owner was unsure as to how it worked. The location is really not far from the Rialto but there are only a couple of decent places to eat nearby and most will rip tourists off. I would try somewhere else if I was going to Venice again.

Directions to the hotel were horrible. Took us 45 minutes and asking 4 different people to find it. Ok, it is Vence but...... We walked back to the train depot when we left, and it only took 10 minutes. You should include walking directions from there. Walking saves you 5 euro apiece by not riding the water bus. Plus you go through the back "steets" where things are more "local". The resturants are cheaper. It's really nice. The hotel was very nice. Once you find it.

Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable, with a glimpse of a canal from the windows. The breakfasts were good, but for English guests a tea-making facility in the rooms would be an advantage. One slight drawback was that the hotel was initially difficult to find. More precise directions would help.

OF ALL THE PLACES WE STAYED DURING OUR 2 WEEK STAY THIS WAS THE NICEST. THE ROOMS WERE IMMACULATE AND THE AREA COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER. THE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. IT IS A BIT DIFFICULT TO FIND, BUT THAT IS TRUE FOR MOST ADDRESSES IN VENICE. I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN AND RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE CONSIDERING A TRIP TO VENICE.

The Locanda Arco Antico is situated right in the centre of Venice - ideal for exploring the city. We were primarily attracted by the price, comparable to other hotels which were either in Mestre or the Lido. We were pleasantly surprised by our room, Casanova, which suited our purposes as we were only staying for two nights. The bathroom was very clean and modern, we apparently also had the only jacuzzi bath in the hotel! Breakfast (included) was served promptly and we had a good choice of food. All in all, a very pleasant stay!

I definitely recommend this nice B&B. It's located in a convenient area. All staffs were very welcoming and helpful, making warm atomosphire. Rooms were clean and well-decorated. I'd say only thing that needs improvement is soundproofing, if it's possible. There were several 'domestic noise' I heard during the night. However, in total, I'm really satisfied with my stay, hope to go back there again someday.

A quiet, friendly hotel in an out-of-the way street, 5 minutes walk from Rialto. Courteous and helpful staff. Highly recommended and very good value for money - especially for Venice! We will return.

This centrally located small hotel/guest house is an excellent value for money, with very high quality of services, and extremely friendly and helpful personnel. It will certainly be our first choise for accomodation in our next visit to Venice.

Perfect place to stay for a visit of Venice. We were pleased to have two rooms on the groundfloor, the others are on a for us to high level. Breakfast was good, rooms were clean, staf very kind. Maybe some extra information in Venere.com about the adress and the ways to reach it could help.

The map showing the location like most Venetian maps are not that clear, but once you find Hotel, you will find the rooms are sizable and very well presented, very clean and comfortable worthy of most 4 star hotels. Although I would imagine the rooms near the dining area could be noisy if you are a late riser! Everyone speaks fluent English, keen to help and extremely efficient. We had some trouble with the hot water, but Im sure its not a common occurance. Storage space in the bathroom is non existance which causes some difficulty. The bath does have a shower attachment, but no screen making showing an adventure! Would recommend if want something special that doesnt remind you of the same old hotel room you have seen.

This recently renovated hotel was a really good find. Just 5 minutes walk from Rialto bridge in a quiet alleyway. The staff spoke English and were very welcoming. Breakfast was served between 8am-10am - help yourself to cereal, croissants, bread, yoghurt, cold meat, fruit juice. Tea and coffee served at your table. Bedrooms clean, comfortable and airconditioned. Plenty of hot water, towels, toiletries provided in bathroom plus hairdrier. Proprietors gave sightseeing tips and recommendations for restaurants. Best to arrive by private water taxi, especially at night as hotel has own jetty. Ask for specific directions to give to the taxi, otherwise it will drop you off at the nearest vaporetto stop. This is only 2 mins walk away but plenty of scope for getting lost in the dark! Would definitely stay there again.

The only one problem we had was finding the hotel as the Venere webpage had the address number wrong!! Other than that, the hotel was wonderful, in a perfect location, the hosts absolutely brilliant and helpful. I'd definitely stay there again when I go back and recommend anyone else to do the same.

We were fortunate to find this wonderful little hotel, received excellent (friendly, polite and efficient) service, and were very satisfied with the rooms. The idea of giving each room its unique character based on a Venice personality was cute. The location is ideal, since it is away from the tourist bustle of San Marco and closer to the authentic areas of Venice where the local people live. At the same time, San Marco and Rialto are within walking distance. We will certainly recommend Locanda Arco Anticho to friends visiting Venice! Two recommendations to the Locanda staff are: 1. Update some of the photos on the web site. They do not all accurately reflect the property. 2. Please give more specific instructions about how to get to the Locanda, e.g. get off at the waterbus stop San Silvestro, walk through... , turn left at... etc. Most tourists to Venice do not know how to decipher an address from the area (San Polo) + number.
