We truly enjoyed our stay in Ca' Leon D'Oro. It was conveniently located very near the Rialto Bridge. Our room was on the top floor, which had its own terrace, which we enjoyed even during winter. The room was clean and functional. Breakfast was very hearty, with a variety of croissants, rolls, yoghurt, juices, coffee (it was the best on our trip). The staff was friendly and helpful. Just an advice, you would need to climb many stairs so be prepared. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

A wonderful little place very close to the Rialto bridge, yet very quiet located. Room and bathroom big enough and very clean, good matress for a good night sleep. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast italian style, for us enough. Highlight was the coffee machine what a nice choice of coffee. Should the hotel be booked you might hear your room neighbours. Perfect location to explore Venice and we will return next year.

Very nice location and friendly staff. The building has no elevator and steep stairs. This place is not for old timers unless they travel very light. Only a strong, healthy person could lift large heavy luggage up.

Two wonderful nights in Venice. Great location near Rialto, easy to find. Biggest room we had during our entire stay in Italy (including 4 star hotel in Rome) and in-room bathroom nice after shared hall bathrooms. Friendly staff recommended a good place for lunch a ten minute walk away.

The room was very spacious, especially for Venice. The location was perfect, between the Rialto Bridge and Saint Mark's Square. The breakfast was average for Venice. The only down side was the steep, narrow staircase leading to the main floor where the rooms are located. But I would stay here again.

Great place to stay, we would definitly go back there next time. It was a great price for the location it was in. Clean and big room. Great location too, right next to the Realto bridge, so anytime you get lost, just look for Realto signs and you'll easily find your way back from anywhere. Breakfast is fresh bread and croissants, yogurt, coffe and juices. Great light breakfast to start the day.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. The breakfast was adequate but marginal compared to other Italian B&B's/hotels. The room was vary noisy at night and had an sewer type odor in the bathroom. Not as clean as some we stayed in.

The rooms were by Venice standards a good size. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Bit of a trudge up two flights of stairs to the reception though and breakfast although normal in Italy was a little bland. Overall for a short break good value for money, about two minutes from the Rialto and about seven to San Marco. Ask the girls on reception to recommend a good eatery!

We very much enjoyed our stay. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere but just a few steps from the Rialto Bridge! A perfect location for travellers a little past the clubbing age who are looking for good value for money. Room was pleasant but not large. Staff helpful and friendly. The only area for improvement would be the breakfast room, which is rather cramped, and the coffee (from a vending machine) which was poor. Steep stair access might be a problem for some people although it wasn't for us. We would happily stay there again and would thoroughly recommend the hotel to friends.

Everything was excellent. Eleonora ( one of the owners )was very friendly and helpful. They have no elevator, but she helped me with my bag ( I am not young ). The place is very clean and quiet, lovely furniture in the room and a very nice bathroom. I would say is a place "fatto con amore ".The location is great. This property is very well maintained and the employees are all very competent and speak English quite well. The location is very convenient to all major sites in Venice and is very easy to find. The rooms are rather small but probably normal for Venice. There is no elevator and there are quite a few stairs to climb. This was not a problem for us, but could be for people with young children and a lot of luggage. Our room was quite quaint and small, but we had a stair up to the balcony. This was wonderful for us because it gave us a place to put out laundry to dry!

* We had 2 differents rooms during our stay: room 5 (5 nights) is the smallest but also very quite: we recommend. Eurosport in German available (but not in room 2!) * Room 2 was larger but noisy (1 night) * Welcoming & relations are excellent. Ready to help and with large smiles! * breakfast awful but we knew it before thanks to other comments. * location is almost unbeatable (50 meters to Rialto).

The hotel has a good location, just off the Rialto bridge...close to the vaporetto stop. The decor is old but the room itself is spacious. One of the front desks is not very nice to me (compared to when she talked to the other couple who was in line before me), but the others are. Breakfast is alright...nothing special.

Breakfast was adequate but not generous. The hotel staff was helpful but their suggestion of a restaurant was not good. There was a lot of noise from the street at night and if the shutters and windows were closed, the room was very stuffy. The room was small but extremely clean. I would recommend the hotel as an excellent value for the money in overpriced Venice. We stayed in Venice for three nights.

I made a mistake on the booking and the staff were very helpful there was not a problem. It was the first time I had stayed at this hotel and found it to be very central to everything. I liked the idea of having a key to the front door. Maybe the only problem was the stairs and no lift.

My husband and I were in Italy for our first time. Venezia was our first "get away" trip from the business issues he'd been dealing with in Torino. The staff at the Ca' Leon D'Oro was wonderful. Both were pleasant and even wished my husband a happy birthday the day before and the day of his birthday. We had the smaller room on the top floor, but had no arguments about anything. We knew there were no lifts and that didn't bother us. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small but modern, and had everything a person needed. We were just a few minutes from the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square, but the hotel was very quiet. The staff gave very good directions to us over the phone as to how to find them. The English spoken was very good. We truly preferred this cozy hotel over the 4 star hotel we'd been staying at in Torino. If we ever get another chance to visit Venezia, we'll stay at the Ca' Leon D'Oro again in a heartbeat. I do have to stress that if you're not in good health, that this probably isn't the hotel for you. There are several stairs to climb including one flight of stairs before you reach the reception desk.

The best thing about Ca' Leon D'Oro is the location. Located practically off the steps of the Rialto Bridge. This allowed us to "get lost" in Venice w/out worries, as anytime we'd want to get back home, we'd just follow the many signs pointed to the Rialto Bridge..and our hotel was right there. We stayed on the 2nd floor of the hotel (no elevator). Very clean and spacious...surprisingly bigger than our B&B in Rome. Beds are not the best..very springy. Staff is very warm and welcoming. Also left the breakfast room open for us, as we had to check out earlier that 8:15am. We were given a set of keys..so no checking in/out all the time. Internet was 5 euros for unlimited usage. Would definitely stay here again.

Very close to Rialto Bridge so very convenient. Rooms nice. Worlds heaviest hotel front door. Room wasn't ready although we arrived exactly when we said we would in the confirmation email. Although the sign on the front door stated reception available from 8am to 8pm, the receptionist left at 7pm leaving us with no way to pay at 7:10pm (6am departure the next morning)After a frustrating cell phone call with somebody at the other end of a cell number on a card at the desk, the receptionist came back and scolded us for being mistaken-the reception closing time is 7pm she said. When I pointed out the sign downstairs on the front door says 8pm, she replied, "Well that is an old sign" and proceeded to show me a "new" sign in the reception area behind luggage, behind a curtain. She didn't seem to take the logical suggestion to edit the sign below on the entry door (you know the one everybody can see...) very well, so I doubt it has been changed.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is literally just feet away from the Rialto-great location in the heart of the action, yet quiet. The front desk staff is great. They speak very good English which is so helpful. The breakfast was the best we had in Italy (where breakfast usually isn't much). It was a couple pastry options, coffee, juice yogurt and cereal. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable beds, very reasonably priced mini bar. There is a super market close by which we always use to keep our beverage cost down. Make sure you take the directions on your confirmation from Venere, they are excellent and you'll need that level of detail. The only caution is steps...lots of them, steep and narrow. Get a Donna Leon novel for your trip to Venice. She's an American author who lives in Venice and uses it as the setting for her books. The best tip we got was the ramp at the train station if you are wheeling luggage. As soon as you get off the train, just off the front of the tracks, go left. There is a door to a ramp so you can avoid the steps. Murano was the only site we took in that wasn't worth our time.

The room was very big, good, excellent free internet. The only thing very poor is the breakfast is nothing just sweet bread, yogurt, milk, coffee, chocolate or tea. No fruits, no cheese, no ham, no eggs.. nothing salty. This bed and breakfast has 30 stairss before arriving the first floor were the reception and two rooms are.. so it is not good for mature people. Location is good but I like better close to San Marcos.

For Venice, the rooms were quite spacious and comfortable, particularly considering the modest price. There's no lift and our rooms were on the second floor, so one has to be reasonably fit. Breakfast was a little bit disappointing. It would have been nice to have a bit better coffee and bread. I worried about noise from the streets because the hotel is located in a busy area, but, it was very quiet, which, I think, is because the hotel is just one block behind that busy area. However, at night, there was unidentifiable noise about every 40 minutes, similar to air-conditioning or heating system noise, none of which was actually on, when we were staying. Other than these minor things, spacious rooms are just like the photos on the web, everything was clean, all the employee were very nice to accommodate our needs, and the location was fantastic.I would recommend this hotel to other travelers, particularly who do not have good sense of direction and worry about coming back to the hotel late at night as it is located in busy area and so easy to find.

This hotel has a perfect location, just a minute from the Rialto Bridge. The staff, Julia especially, was very nice and helpful. Our room was quite large and as there was a heat wave, we wecomed the air conditioning. There is no elevator and only a narrow staicase which would have to be a consideration for some people. Elisa and Eleonora were two of the most helpful and friendly people I have ever encountered at a hotel reception. They went way out of their way to make sure every need I had was met, and even needs I didn't know I had. They made concert reservations, figured out a very complicated transportation question, and even left the breakfast room open overnight with a breakfast packed for us since we were leaving at 3am! The location was great. Being so close to the Rialto bridge, it is easy to wander and not even need a map to get home because of signs for the Rialto. Very spacious rooms. I would highly recommend this place and will come back again.

My husband and I have been to Venice many times and this was a great hotel for location, easy arrival with bags, and nice service. For the price, you should know you do not get a huge room and that's not what we were after. We wanted to be able to get the St Marks Square and Campo Santa Margarita for Franco's pizza and pasta.

This hotel has a wonderful location in the middle of Venice. We came into Venice by train, and took a water taxi to the Rialto Bridge. The hotel is only about 1.5 blocks away from the bridge, and roughly 10 minutes away from Piazza San Marco. But since the hotel is on a smaller street, it's actually very quiet and peaceful inside. Our room was very large, with two beds, a wardrobe, a desk, TV and one of the larger bathrooms we had in Italy. The only downside was that the room was dark, but it's hard to find bright rooms in Venice where the streets are narrow and other buildings block the sun. The hotel managers (Elisa and Eleonora, I think) spoke excellent English and were very kind and helpful. This is definitely our first choice hotel when we return to Venice!

Good hotel, good location. Nice breakfast comparing to the other b&b's and hotels in Italy. Very helpful staff. Phone in the room. Satellite TV with international channels. Maps provided. Just a warning for somebody who can't carry they luggage up steep stairs: no elevator (lift) and nobody to help you. Pequeno hotel, com poucos quartos, mas muito bem localizado e com otima recepção. Fomos muito bem recebidos e atendidos e todas as nossas necessidades. O Cafe da manha poderia ser um pouco mais sortido, mas estava bastante razoavel.

My stay at Ca'Leon D'oro was simply great. we had arrived a bit early as our train reached at 8 in the morning. I had mailed about it to them. When i arrived was really delighted to know that my room was already ready. we were give the same room that was shown in the pictures. the room was compact but great. Bathrooms were also well equipped. In Venice we couldnt have asked for more. The location was easy to find thanks to the directions send by the hotel in reply to my mail. Breakfast was just okay. Tht ere are stairs that could be a bit demanding for elderly people. Overall we had a realy great time at the Hotel Ca' Leon D'oro and would recommend it to any Young couples who are a bit budget conscious but doesnt want to compromise on location.

Very good place.i recommend this place except for handicap people and people who have some problem to use stair.also the depature time it is not 12:00(noon) but 10:00 am. it is a bite to early.but for the situation,it is a good place near to every thing and a quiet place alain chamberland p.s i read then venere have some nego to sell your web to expedia.for me it is not a good thing because i have the opportunite to pay the hotel at the end instead to pay to web cie.i use expedia only to find airline cie or hotel in some area tks again to read me

This hotel was in a great location for Venice. The reception is only open until 8pm. If you need later check in you need to pick up your keys from a sister hotel which was close and painless. There is no lift/elevator, dragging 50 pound suitcases up the stairs at 11pm after traveling all day was a struggle so I wouldn't recommend it for travelers with heavy luggage. Staff was nice and accomodating.

Fantastic, friendly service. Very helpful. Room very clean and functional. Standard continental breakfast. Very close to Rialto bridge which makes it very central for St Mark's Square and just about everything really. Highly recommend Venice and particularly this accomodation. Thanks to Elisa and Eleanora for making it a pleasure.

This hotel was an excellent find in a rather over priced market. The service and location were excellent and as a result we had a wonderful time in Venice (1st time there 3 friends). The hotel reccomended a number of very good restaurants and bars which was helpfull. They also sent great instructions on how to get there (easy to locate from train station or rialto bridge), organised a late check in and allowed us to leave our bags behind for te day. Breakfast area was small but efficient, room was large basic but clean, exactly as described and what we needed.

We were couple with a 10 month old baby - it was perfact for us - the location is perfact for stoping in noon to rest and play - in spite the fact the room isn't that big and there was steep stairs (we left our strollet downstairs).

We went on vacation to Italy and visited many places. This hotel is one of the best we slept in (2 nights). The staff is very nice and welcoming, the breakfast was the best we had (relative to other hotels). The room was clean and comfortable. We had the room with the terrace, and the view of the rooftops is very nice. This specific room is a bit smaller than the others, but that didn't bother us at all (most of the time we were out). You don't need anything bigger than this. On the second night the water was lukewarm, but we didn't want to bother the staff. I'm sure they would have taken care of it immediately. The hotel is placed in the center of Venice, near the Rialto bridge, and close to the waterbus stop. I would definitely come back to Leon D'oro, had I visited venice again.

L'hotel rimane in pieno centro. Il rapporto qualità prezzo è secondo me giusto. Siamo rimasti 2 notti e ci siamo trovati molto bene.

The location was ideal. The staff very nice. The breakfast room is really small and the breakfast was fair. The rooms were spacious, but be ready to huff your way up some very narrow stairs. All in all a quaint hotel in a tiny alley way. Would stay here again and recommend it to anyone going to Venice.

It was my first time in Venice and it was wonderfull! The hotel has a good location next to Rialto bridge, confortable room, good internet service, good breakfast... the only problem should be the stairs... lots of them! Terrible to carry the bags, and terrible for old and tired people. I could came back for sure.

We had a nice stay in venice at this hotel. The employees were very prompt and helpful. The rooms were very clean, breakfast was nice. It was also quiet since it was slightly inside but only few steps from the rialto bridge, hence an excellent location if you are not willing to spend lot of money. I would not hesitate to reccommend this place. They also left breakfast for us early in the morning since we were leaving before the breakfast time.

Hey its a supermarket in the way to Saint Mark you will SAVE A LOT OF MONEY buying the necesary stuff there (Water, wine, etc)

My boyfriend and I stayed at Ca' Leon D'oro for four nights in April this year (2008) and we couldn't have enjoyed it more! Our flight to Venice was delayed meaning we didn't arrive in Venice city until 2am, but when telephoning the hotel to alert them of this they couldn't have been more understanding. Had to pick up keys from a sister hotel due to our late arrival but was a 30 second walk away so no problem! Given a triple room although only paid for a double so very spacious. Very friendly staff and an excellent location (literally a 1 minute walk from Rialto Bridge!) means we wouldn't think twice about booking here again!

The staff sent me an email with the precise location of the hotel. Only problem was I confused the alley since there are so many parallel ones. We received a very warm welcome and offered the choice between a room (no sight) and a smaller one with a nice terrace. The prices for beverages on the fridge are cheap, you spend 1 Euro for a bottle of water that you find at 1.50 outside (at least). The room is rather warm, due to the kind of building. There's air conditioning but I didn't use it. TV and Sat are available. The bathroom is small but it has all you need. A steep staircase leads to the rooms, so big luggages might be an inconvenience. There is a small buffet breakfast, with an automated coffe machine (and chocolate, cappuccino and tea as well), croassaint, ham, cheese and all the usual stuff. The location is 50m from the Rialto Bridge and a 10 minutes walk from S. Marco. Absolutely great if you want to take a rest during the day after walking for miles. The price is rather high but not for Venice standards. I would surely recommend it if you want a great location and you are not looking for big spaces.

We asked for a room with a view and were offered a room with a small terrace. The hotel told us the room wd be small, and indeed it was. Other than that, our stay was wonderful. I wd highly recommend this little gem of a hotel. (Stairs to the top floor may be difficult for mature travellers.) The walking distance from the Rialto stop is a real plus. (PS: if you're staying for more than a day avail of the 24-hr vaporetti pass, it's a real deal for the price of $13 euro for unlimited travelcompared to $6.50 for a single fare).

By car The hotel is easily reachable from Piazzale Roma or from Tronchetto, where guests can leave their cars. Take the lane under the sign and you will find us 20 meters on your left at number 5303 (look for the red sign).
By airplane From the airport you can reach the hotel directly by watertaxi, or public bus service to Piazzale Roma Terminal, and then take the public waterbus 1 or 82, which will take you to Rialto Bridge.
From Treviso airport take the shuttle bus to Venice, just out of the airport. Then after a 1h.00 trip you will arrive in Venice - Piazzale Roma (Cars and buses terminal).
