We stayed in the Canaletto Room which was reasonably roomy and was the only room with an outside balcony. While not luxurious, the Inn was comfortable was very well located. The value of the room considering the location was outstanding. We would stay here again if we return to Venice and don't hesitate in recommending it to others.

Lumpy pillows, 2 little drawers in nightstands, 1 shallow desk drawer, 6 old wire hangers in the wardrobe (we were supplied with 10 additional mis-matched used hangers when we asked), repetitive stingy breakfast (hard rolls, pre-packaged toasts and croissants, juice, coffee - no fruit, totally different than all of our other European hotels we stayed at during this 5 week trip). Good, convenient location in a quiet residential neighborhood. Wi-fi did not reach our room. With just a little more effort and investment in new pillows and perhaps some more storage pieces this hotel could be a lot better than it is. We were here for a week, perhaps it would have been better for a briefer visit - unpacking 2 small rollaboards was impossible because of lack of drawers. Newer bathroom was a plus, although we were never able to figure out all the shower controls.

We were very happy with this hotel. The neighborhood was quiet and residential, with kids playing in the street. Our room was spacious and had a little balcony. We had no trouble locating the hotel, thanks to Arthur Waide's directions which were spot-on, even though we arrived at 10:30 at night. Staff was friendly and competent, arranging a water taxi for us which was an easy 3-minute walk from the hotel. We felt the price was a good value for Venice.

Very quiet area. I didn't feel like I was in the thick of the tourist area of Venice but I really liked our quiet location close to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in a charming neighborhood. Venice is a very expensive city and I think this was priced well based on what it seemed like other places cost. The host was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious. I was thrilled to see a jacuzzi tub when we arrived, however, it didn't work and I was ultimately disappointed as I was geared up for a nice soak. I loved Venice and I would return to this inn as it was so quiet and comfortable.

The bedroom was so big!! It was a department, because it had two bedrooms, kitchen, leaving room, bathroom... even a washing machine!! The price was so low for all that we get. It also includes breakfast. But it was difficult to find, #1 because Venice is a maze and #2 the hotel is not very near to the main attractions. For arriving there we needed to take a "Vaporetto" and then walk. For getting back to the train station we just walked but it took us like 30 minutes. So yes, you can go walking everywhere, but is not very near. But for the price, what we received was excellent!!

A very nice place, quiet and relaxing. Very close to Santa Maria della Salute and Palazzo Vernier (art gallery of Peggy Guggenheim). It is also in front of Piazza S. Marco (you have to cross Accademia bridge on Canal Grande and then 15 minutes by feet ). A very good stay. The staff is very kind. Thank you.

Breakfast a little bit too poor. Always the same things offered. Staff was very kind the day I was not well at all. Equipment in venetian style of the 18th century. Rooms therefore a little bit too dark, but this can be nice in summertime.

The hotel is difficult to find and the hotel's website directions are vague and quite inaccurate. Also,I didn't find out until we arrived that the hotel staff go home at 8pm and the front door is locked. Anyone arriving late needs to have a cell phone with them to call the phone numbers on the front door so that someone can let them in.

I would like to rate this hotel near perfect, really. Two only comments (one of which being totally personal): - breakfast is a little too basic - rooms environment is beautiful but makes use of a lot of fabrics and carpets and I am allergic to dust.. so I woke up with a strong allergic reaction....

Everything about caa was good except how to find the place ,so here goes get off at academia turn left follow to end, turn right, take first left, follow thru over the bridge, vear slightly left follow the thin alley/street, to bridge on right cross turn left take 3rd alley/street on right walk to end, turn left walk 40metres and you're there. Once found it is a lovely wee hotel and excellent people working there.

The directions to get to the hotel could have been better as we had to struggle to find th ehotel despite following the instructions on the webpage , particularly as it was our first time in Venice. The staff were welcoming but we were housed away from the actual hotel advertised, however as the accomodation was a self contained lovely flat we didn't mind and would recommend this quite strongly.

The hotel was quiet, quaint and clean. Great for mature people. The staff was helpful and friendly. The only negative was the distance from the vaporetto stop and carrying our luggage over bridges and steps. But I would definitely stay here again!

Quiet area - away from tourist spots, with easy public transport access. Nice Venetian interior decoration. Small room for two people carrying a small suitcase. Small wardrobe, TV without a remote control, adequate bathroom facilities. The air-conditioning was good. Breakfast was poor and boring although the staff was helpful. Recommended as a good value for money for people that do not intend to stay in the hotel room all day long, but rather use it for a decent sleep only.

We can recommand the hotel as a simple but very friendly accomodation in the heart of Venice, very silent and clean. For guests arriving after 8p.m. be aware that the reception of the hotel is empty and you have to phone with your cellular phone to a clark coming opening the hotel for you. Apart of this fact the hotel was excellent specially if you travel with children it is good.

My wife, daughter, and I stayed here the night before taking a cruise and the night after our cruise ended. It is a small, but very convenient, hotel that is a relatively short walk from the Academia Bridge. It is charming, clean, and provides a good continental breakfast. It was a little tricky to find the first time (a good Venice map was essential), but after that, it was easy. And for Venice, the rate was not bad for a triple room. We would definitely stay here again.

Because of a mixup in our reservation, we were upgraded to the apartment adjacent to the hotel, which was great. An excellent bathroom with 2 separate washbasins, and the luxury of space made up for an uncomfortably hard mattress, and not very soft sheets. The location is quiet and convenient, but a bit of a trek with luggage. The lovely lady who upgraded us was most helpful. The value is excellent for Venice, with its outrageous prices. The breakfast is the bare minimum, and I would have liked a window screen--the mosquitos feasted on us!

Excellent staff: helpful, caring, good humored. del Brocchi is a lovely small hotel tucked away in Dorsoduro yet 2 minutes from the Zattere or the Guggenheim, thus easy walks to much of Venice (a most walkable city). Thank you to La Donna and to Nicola.

For a quality stay in venice, the dorsoduro is the neighborhood. And the cal del brocchi is the hotel. Helpful nice family with great italian accomodations and apartments next to the salute church! If spending evenings among the venetians in campo santa margherita and chiccherri @ the corner pub are for you. look no further. Just steps from the Accademia bridge.

Ca' del Brocchi is a small hotel in a very quiet residential area of Venice, but still within 5 minutes walking of the Accademia Art Museum and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. If you are looking for a room with a view, you won't find one here, but if you are looking for a superb value on a quiet hotel away from the central tourist hub-bub, then you will be very happy here. The rooms are elegant and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included.

It's a very quite hotel in an area under restauration. Rooms are OK (only 6) but nobody speaks french, nobody during the day to welcome you (you have to phone) and it's quite a difficult walk with the luggage from the vaporetto station (with 2 or 3 stairs to jump). But a very close and cheap restaurant with a very good quality and ambiance (Taverna san Trovaso).

This was one of the best hotels we stayed in on our 1 month trip. This family-owned hotel is very nicely fitted out and in a good location. The hotel managers, brothers, were extremely friendly and helpful. The only slight problems were that there were no staff after hours - only contactable via an emergency mobile number, and the breakfast was adequate but not spectacular. We asked to stay an extra night and the "apartment" they provided at the same cost, was very spacious and even nicer than the room. Overall, one of the best!

We were pleasantly surprised with the high standard offered by this B&B. It was newly refurbished to a very high standard and the location was excellent. My husband, adult child and I spent 3 nights at this B&B. The directions to find it were attrocious and were lucky to stumble on it, which is difficult when pulling luggage. The gentleman who greeted us was very friendly and helpful but it ended there. The room was very small by our standards with a double bed and a roll-away bed for our son made moving around the room difficult. The bathroom was very large and very clean. Unfortunately Venice is doing major construction on walkways and the view was not pleasant. Not being on a canal, there really isn't to much view of anything, but our room did have a little balcony on a back alley that was pleasant to sit on when the contstruction workers left. The breakfast each morning was just horrible. We did not expect cooked meals but at least expected more than packaged muffins and burnt rolls.

Sweet hotel with good service but way overpriced compared to others in the area. There are no facilities and the front counter only operates until 8pm at night. It is also quite hard to get to and not in the centre of things. This can also be a good thing as Venice can be very crowded. Mosquitos flew in a bit me all night - don't know where they were coming from as my window was closed.

We (married couple in our 40s) just got back from 2 weeks in Italy. We spent one evening at this B&B. We found it to be very easy to find. Key is finding a good map and planning ahead. We found it no problem, like other comments, close enough to sites yet set in a neighborhood setting. Room was SUPER clean and very spacious. The breakfast was average compared to 3 other B&Bs we stayed at in Italy. But there are so many great places to have coffee and typical Italian breakfast and provides for another good excuse to go out an venture the town. I agree with the comment someone posting regarding the passports. Not sure why they have to keep them for a couple of hours; however, they did the same with us. My husband asked me to follow up w/the front desk several hours later. Also, we were greeted by a young gentleman who was very nice and offered to let us store our bags since we arrived early; however, we did not see him until we checked out the next day and dealt with someone named Monica for odds and ends we needed.

We had considerable trouble finding the Hotel when we were dropped off by the water taxi from the airport, after dark. We had heavy suitcases. We were not given adequate directions in advance. When we finally found it, it was closed with a couple of telephone numbers to call. We had a cell phone but the country codes confused us. We had to ask a local restaurant to call for us. We should have been forewarned that it would be closed and given better directions how to get there after dark. Someone did arrive promptly after we phoned. Our room was great. Very happy with it. A bit disappointed with packaged croissants for breakfast, we expected fresh ones. Overall satisfactory, except for trying to find the place on arrival. If we had known we would have phoned to have someone meet us where the water taxi docks. We hadn't been advised to do that.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is relatively easy to get to from the train and bus stations, via the 51,61 water bus. Although it is not in the heart of Venice we still found this to be a good base to explore from, with all of the sight's accessible on foot or via tha water buses.

The Ca' del Brocchi is a great home base from which to explore Venice. It is set back in a residential area, so it's quiet and a bit hard to find. It's really only a block or two behind the Guggenheim Museum. Venice of course requires a lot of walking, and there are a lot of stairs. Pack lightly!! Our room was beautiful. The bathroom was large and beautiful and clean; too bad the shower had very little pressure. A nice breakfast was served downstairs. The staffing is odd, as others have mentioned they do not have someone at the desk full time. Be prepared to arrive before 5 pm, and to surrender your passports. We were nervous that we never saw the "check-in" man again, but we were busy, out and about. Luckily, the nice lady who served breakfast (who speaks very little English) was able to return our passports to us when we asked, 2 days later. Lovely B&B overall.

It was very difficult to find the hotel and this was further complicated by construction which was going on nearby. Directions provided by the website were very limited. Once we arrived, however, we were delighted to find out that they were giving us their brand new apartment suite, instead of a triple room, for the same price quoted. Our suite included 2 bedrooms with new, spacious bathroom, entry hall, a kitchen, dining, living room and excellent air conditioning. Although the apartment was a little dark, everything was beautifully decorated with the Venetian style seen in the website photos. The hotel staff and owner were very helpful and pleasant. They even provided our son with free internet access in the lobby. Breakfast was good and was served in their small breakfast room off the lobby. Our stay there was extremely pleasant and we would highly recommend Ca' del Brocchi for anyone who wishes to stay in a 4-star hotel for 2-3 star prices!

The room was good. Breakfast was repetitive, however - a choice of 3 types of juice, 2 bread rolls per person, packet croissant/brioche and various jams with tea or coffee.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay at this beautiful hotel on our honeymoon. The only gliche we faced came from trying to find the hotel; however, once we did it became a home away from home. It is well located, only 15 minutes to Piazza San Marco. The room (small apartment) that we had was very spacious. Perhaps best of all, the room had excellent air conditioning, which was definitely needed as it reached 100 degrees nearly every day of our stay. If you would like a nice, quiet, hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist attractions, then stay at this hotel. You won't be disappointed.

Welcoming : The hotel is closed after 16 PM so we had to phone the responsable for enter into the hotel. Public areas : the breakfast room only has five tables so we have to wait a free table some morning. It's a plaisant stay and we recommand it.

This was our first time to Venice and we were not familiar with any of the means of transportation in the city. We had a hard time finding the hotel and several times we stopped to ask for help. The directions to the hotel could have been more clear and provided more specific details on where to go (which vaporetto stop to take) and where to go once we had to travel by foot.

Our 10th hotel stay in Venice, and one of our favourites! But we just seem to love Venice more each time. Very quiet part of Dorsoduro, 5 minutes from Accademia & practically behind the Guggenheim. Very small hotel, lovely staff ~ no ataff after 4.00pm, but provided with keys & freedom to come & go. Excellent air conditioning (July was hot!). No views but, hey, get out and walk! Simple breakfasts, but pleasant not to have crowded dining room (5 tables). We'd stay here again, for sure.

An absolute gem. A haven of peace tucked away from the throngs in Venice in July and yet with the Accademia bridge being close, walking to the major sights was not a problem. The hotel was everything I expected from the photographs and more. Nothing was too much trouble, just excellent, I would certainly stay here again.

Great place. Very clean. Small room but large bathroom. Lovely decor and very comforting. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Basic breakfast. They let us store our luggage with no problems. It is a little tricky to find so make sure you have a detailed map of the streets in Venice. And heads up for check in. If you arrive after 3pm you have to call to have someone meet you.

Wonderful location--quiet, not touristy. Reasonable value for Venice. It is a small hotel, not staffed 24 hrs. Only way to check in after staff leaves is to call so if you do not have a European compatible cell phone, this may be a nuisance.

Quiet out of the way location, but reasonably close to Accademia. We were given the choice of the nice triple we reserved or a newly renovated 2 bedroom suite with kitchen that was available (at no extra cost) - we took it and enjoyed it. Friendly staff, adequate breakfast.

This is a very cute little B&B that you'll have to struggle to find the first time. It was a great find for us and we overlooked a nice little greenbelt. Everything was clean and the breakfast was good. Venice is very expensive and this little place was reasonable by comparison. I liked it's location iin the Dorsoduro away from the really crowded areas. Wonderful stay.

Lovely spacious, clean room in a quiet area of Venice just minutes away from the Guggenheim museum. The map of the hotel wasn't much use to us as we arrived at night and the street names were difficult to read. I would advise anyone arriving at night to get a water taxi despite the expense, we only found the place because we met another couple and asked for directions and they turned out to be staying in the same hotel. And this was after nearly an hour of wandering!! However that is not the fault of the hotel. Probably our poor sense of direction! It is a great little place if you like to be independent. Our room had a jacuzzi and a little terrace and was nicely decorated. All the major attractions were a 10-15 walk away. Would certainly stay there again if I was back in Venice and I would recommend the hotel.

When we arrived the owner told us there were some works going on starting early in the morning. Het therefore offered us an apartment on 5 minutes walking for the same price. This apartment was fantastic: large and a very good location (the hotel is in a very good location too BTW). I can recommend the hotel for the service and the location to everybody.

The Ca'del Brocchi has taken seriously comments from previous visitors about the quality of the breakfast, and now we had freshly baked hot rolls for breakfast - much better than the stuff in packets. It is an a very quiet location, yet easily to reach both Accademia and Zattere. The main problem for any first time visitor is if you intend to arrive after 6pm the front door is locked, and you have to phone to get someone to attend to you. So make sure you have a mobile phone and you are set up to phone in Italy - as there are no public phones around. The hotel does not tell you about this in its joining instructions. Like all Venice hotels,it offers much better value out of season. It is a very pleasant place to stay. This is our second visit to Ca'del Brocchi, and would happily go back again.
