Club Hotel Ancora - Stintino

Good points: very good restaurant with delicious and varied food (Italian/Sardignian specialities) in a lovely terrace surrounded by palm trees. Nice terrace with comfortable sofas to enjoy readings during afternoon. Nice garden, hotel buildings. Negative points: hidden cost such as mandatory contribution per person for the week. Against this obligatory fee, you just have the right to use the shuttle to go to the Pelosa beach and city of Stintino (note that la Pelosa is just 15 min walking from the hotel) and benefit from "discounted" rates to use the lawnchairs in the "private" beach and swimming pool. The pool and beach were not really private and did not justify the price for lawnchairs to stay. Bedrooms were noisy and the waiters of the restaurant not friendly at all. For non Italians, the TV includes only italian channels.

When I arrived I was told that we would not be in the main building but in a separate building about 500 meters away. We were promised free bicycles which never arrived. The room itself was very basic. The mattresses were of a poor quality, the air conditioning didn't work, the TV had no reception, and there was no hair drier and iron in the room. Fixing the air condition took the entire stay (2 nights) and I only received a € 10 rebate on a € 225/night room rate. Ridiculous! Even when the air condition worked it was incredibly loud and only cooled the room a little. It never really got cool even when it was running for 3 hours straight. I will never stay here again and can't recommend the hotel.

lovely location, hotel has lovely gardens with a path down to the beach that goes under the road. our room had great rooftop balcony only downsides - average breakfast and having to pay extra to use pool and beach but otherwise good value stintino is a touristy but attractive village. in summer hourly public bus service from hotels to village really useful

I had to go down 15 stairs under the ground, to reach my room! apart this not-negligeble peculiarty, the room was satisfactory

Location was good, the hotel rooms and grounds were beautiful. Mostly we saw young families and couples but no single people. Need a car to go to Stinitino village ( or a long walk!), also to the beach Le Pelosa, or you can take the hotel's shuttle bus. We were told upon arrival that we had to change our room the next day which upset us as we were only staying for two days...but finally they agreed on not moving us. Breakfast was the best we had in Sardinia.

Romm too much dark.

The communcal areas of the hotel are well maintained and the food good but the rooms are very basic and a little shabby. The pool is not near the hotel, it is actually owned by the yacht club and is a good 5-10 minute walk away down a very steep path (not ideal with a 1 year old in a buggy). The hotel is quite remote although there are a couple of restaurants along the beach road (Valentina's was good). Unless you are happy to spend every day by the beach/pool you do need a car to get around as the local bus only goes as far as Stintino.

Good hotel in a quiet part of Stintino. You need to be a beach person as that is all there is. The town is a good 10 minutes drive,very nice when you get there with good bars and restaurants. We only stayed 1 night,3 at the most would have been enough as you are on the end of the peninsular and quite a way from anywhere else. We think the best beach we have seen in a long time,white sand and clean sea for swimming. We had breakfast and evening meal which were both excellant and great value for money.

The hotel is located in a pleasant spot off the main road from Stintino. Inside the decor is clean and attractive but the downside to our 3 day stay was the room was a dark and dingy kitchenette. There were no problems with it per se, it just didn't lift the spirits like a holiday retreat should, especially after being spoilt by our billet in Castel Sardo. The beach was a short but steep walk away where the restaurant served excellent pasta and local wine for lunch. I would recommend a stay here, but you probably need to be selective about the choice of room.
