Of the six places we stayed at during our three weeks in Italy in Sept/11, Villa Rosa was not only the worst, it was the only one that I would rate negatively. The host, Fabio, is most unwelcoming, uninformative and generally unhelpful. In fact he falls just short of being outright hostile. All the rooms have kitchen areas (it is not a B&B; you prepare your own meals) and one of the first things I did after getting into our accommodation was squash a pretty ugly looking bug in the sink. Needless to say (but I'll say it anyways), we lost our appetite for eating in quite quickly after that experience. Security is poor too. Fabio requested that we leave the room key at the front desk when we went out for the day. Did that once and came back much later to find the key still on the front desk, exactly where I had left it, and both the front door to the building and the gate to the street (which was equipped with an electric lock system) unlocked. Not very impressive. As we were checking out, after a three night stay, I asked Fabio if he could recommend the best driving route out of Sorrento and got absolutely zero response, not even an acknowledgement that I had asked the question. Never again for Villa Rosa as far as we are concerned.

Quite nice location with 10 minutes walk to the city centre. However, the traffic (due to a lot of Italians during the Easter) to the centre was passing by just outside the property which could be a bit annoying. The room was spacious, well equipped and very clean. We also had a nice "verandah" in the pretty garden. Probably a convenient stay for families.

Enjoyed the balcony and the view of the Sorrento football field. Very roomy accomodation. Kitchen facilities were good.

The Villa Rosa is a very pretty, clean, and comfortable place to stay in Sorrento. Very close to the train station, buses, and a short walk to main shopping/dining areas. Our room was quite big, with kitchen, comfortable double bed, clean bathroom with shower, and a terrace right off the garden. We were able to control our own room temperature (heat since it was early March) which was quite nice because the weather started out a little chilly. Fabio, our host, was quite nice, a little shy but very friendly and helpful if we needed anything or asked for information. The restaurant across the street was also quite nice, good food and alot of fun. We really enjoyed our stay.

One night that became 4! Central and away from the “city chaos.” Well-located, secure, and close to the local shops, which allows you to buy fresh local food, and to nice restaurants, which are less of the “Disney World” type. The room (the first on the right on the first floor) was very clean, had a patio with privacy (good place to eat) and nice big windows. For light sleepers, be aware of the water pipe noise (located in the wall next to the bed) that can be a little loud when people in the other rooms were using the bathroom facilities. Would still go back!

Ideal location close to the main center of Sorrento and with air conditioning. Needed in July. We had a very nice stay.

We were quite happy with Villa Rosa. The roomswere quite nice. The place was fairly hard to find, but once in, we were able to walk around Sorrento and return to the hotel. The owner is pretty gruff and does not converse much, but he is pretty nice under his exterior. We originally booked one night, but we liked it so much that on our return we booked three night5s more. For Sorrento, 80 euros is a real deal.

Really pleased that found this place when looking for options to stay in Sorrento. Ticked all the boxes - walking distance to the centre, comfortable double bed (not two singles pushed together), kitchenette to make own breakfast, terrace on two sides of the room so could always choose sun or shade, nicely decorated room with his and hers wardrobes, big bathroom, air conditioning, set in gardens with shade from trees and entrance through locked gate that gave a good feeling of safety (though Sorrento as a whole felt safe). We found good little shops a few minutes walk away to buy fresh fruit, bread, cheese and the like for our breakfast (I much prefer a leisurely al fresco breakfast when on holiday). You could make your own simple meals and the kitchen equipment includes knives that cut, not the usual blunt offering available in self catering. There are lots of lovely places to eat out in Sorrento so you probably won't want to do much cooking. The villa is on a busy corner so there's quite a bit of traffic noise but the constant drone of scooters is fairly typical of Italy. After a bit we didn't notice it and with the air con, it was possible to sleep with the windows shut. The shower cubicle was a bit small for a large bathroom but that's a minor quibble. I'd certainly recommend it if you are looking for somewhere relaxing to stay.

The whole impression is quite good except one thing - inspite of I had a room with a kitchenette, I was told NOT TO COOK SEA FOOD!!! and it happened after a roommate had thrown away the soup I cooked and which was much expensive. And in general the competence of staff leaves much to be desired. For the rest this property corresponds to the information on venere.com
