If money is the issue, the place is right, but I and my husband felt like little effort could make of this place a more pleasant stay. Breakfast, very basic, was acceptable. Rooms, which are big, are very simple and painted in a "hospital green". Bed was nice, very clean and firm mattress. Unacceptable from our point of view: Dark green towels in bathroom. I think sparkling white is the only acceptable for a bed & breakfast. And the cushions on the chairs were stained and really worn out. Surroundings are nice and the place is close to many interesting places.

This was our first trip to Italy and Sorrento was our favorite place partly due to Villa Anna. Nina and Luisa and their family were friendly and helpful but also allowed us our privacy. We were so glad to have their help with our car reservation problem. Their Villa is a quiet and secluded place within walking distance of Sorrento. The buffet breakfast was delicious! The room had extremely comfortable beds and it was nice to have a hot pot for a cup of coffee or tea with some biscuits! The surrounding trees and flowers were beautiful even in October. Overall, the family feeling of Villa Alviani Anna made it one of our favorite places! ( We did read about the difficulty some people had in finding Villa Anna and it is somewhat tricky - better directions or a map would be helpful for the first time - but don't let that discourage you!)

We had one night stay in the Villa Alviani Anna before we went on to a Villa in Massa Lubrense. We found the hotel extemely accommodating, very attractive surroundings and were welcomed by the owner who spoke very good english. I would certainly return on another visit to Sorrento, possibly for a few more nights!

Our room had a small patio overlooking the pool and garden. It was very clean and VERY quiet! We loved being able to leave the patio doors open overnight, for fresh air! But beware: There are mosquitos in the garden. The hotel is about a 10 min. walk away from the central historical area.

Excellent accommodation in Sorrento - all reviews true - very friendly staff - lovely breakfast with delicious home cooked cake every morning. One small suggestion - why not make pool available to guests for a limited time daily. I also would recommend restaurant Taverna Luccula just across the road.

Villa Alviani Anna was a wonderful place to stay! It was an easy 15 minute walk into the center of Sorrento where you could shop, go to the beach, or catch the bus, train or ferry to visit other sights in the area. Our room was very clean with its own bathroom, small refridgerator, and patio. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, homemade pastry, juice, cereal, meat, cheese - something for eveeryone! We would definitely stay there again.

A lovely villa and gardens. Our room was spacious and the kitchenette was a wonderful addition. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. The staff are helpful but not intrusive. It is about a 10 minute walk into the centre but a pleasant walk. Not all the rooms have a balcony though, ours did not. This did not spoil the holiday as the room was still lovely but it would have been even better with one! I would definately return.

Our first stay. Very relaxing, good quality of everything, spacious room (with patio) in relation to price. A bit far out from centre but worth it. Setting in lovely garden was beautiful. Would recommend to anyone. Also recommend nearby restaurant(50m away)La Tavola di Lucullo for dinner. Lovely Italian food at very reasonable price with friendly service.

As the first stop on our three week tour Villa Alviana Anna couldn't have been better. The friendly welcome, lovely clean room, lemon grove garden and generous breakfast gave us a real taste for travelling in Italy. The entrance gates were a little daunting when we first got there but perfectly fine after that. For the walk back into town definitely take the short cut through the lemon grove where you can stop for lemoncello if you feel so inclined. And you must, must, must have pizza at Franco's Pizzeria. Being able to pay with credit card here was also a real bonus and we were given lots of local information. What a great discovery and I hope to return one day. Buona sera.

What a beautiful place! The gardens are fantastic; good parking facilities; our room was clean, spacious and we had a kitchenette; breakfast was delicious and it was a short walking distance into town – just far enough to be in a quieter area in terms of noise levels.

The room was great. Very spacious and clean. The internet was not working, which is the only real negative. The breakfast every morning was wonderful with fresh blood orange juice. The location is about 10-20 minutes from the heart of Sorrento and the gate opens to a busy street, but the gardens are beautiful and it is very quiet. The staff was friendly.

We stayed here as part of our holiday in Italy. It was one of the nicest small hotels I have ever stayed in! The price was very reasonable and what a delight the garden was with its lemon trees. The staff were so friendly and the buffet breakfast was excellent. The only small negative was the 10 minute walk into the centre of Sorrento.

My family and I had a delightful stay at Villa Alviani Anna! We had two adults and two older boys and were very comfortable in the quad room. We were made to feel welcome and the proerty was everything that it was billed to be. The proximity to town was very good, close enogh to walk anywhere yet far enough from the center of town to be quiet and restful. The smell of lemon and orange trees was a treat and the breakfast was the best of any of the places we stayed at during our entire trip. I can still taste the homemade marmalade. Our only regret was not having more time to spend. We highly reccommend this as the place to stay in Sorrento.

We had wonderful stay. Location is good not far from the port and the center of town. The garden is lovely with fruit trees. The room was clean and comfortable. Though there was some problem with the running water in the shower, and hot water run out quickly. Breakfast was quite nice with fresh fruits, coffee and cheese. The family who hosted us were kind and helpful, but in addition I had one time hard to have their availability. I was ringing for more than 20min and no one showed up. It was noisy, the family kids staying on the upper floor was making lot of noise at night.

Beautiful private, landscaped grounds & exterior breakfast room. Owner made us a great capuccino for breakfast. Good home base for visiting Sorrento & Capri. Approx. 20 min. walk to main central piazza. Lots of choice of restaurants for dinner & lots of shopping. Main street is closed off to car traffic at night for all the tourists walking around. We took the stairs down to the ferry terminal & spent a day in Capri. At end of long day, we took the bus back to B & B. Bus stop is on same street as B & B & is very close to main gate.

Very accommodating hosts. Breakfasts were quite ample. room was compact, but bright and airy with own outdoor terrace area. Had tea and coffee making facilities. Very quiet and secure location and about 20 mins, walk to railway station. From the railway you can catch the train to Pompeii and Naples, or a bus to the Amalfi coast - what a trip! You can also catch a ferry from the marina in Sorrento or from Amalfi to the Isle of Capri.

This is my first trip to Italy. Villa Anna is more than I dreamt for : Close to everything (train station, center of town, stores, bars...), but in a quiet rather residential area; you are welcomed literally in a garden of lemon trees. The only limit is the fact that it is so small they don't have a permanent presence would one need assistance...

Only place during 5 weeks in Europe we got a room with a kettle and cups to make tea/coffee. Bliss! We had an enormous triple room at the back with a view of market gardens. Beds a bit hard. Hot water ran out quickly. Very noisy early in morning when loading trucks but peaceful the rest of the time. The garden is huge and a wonderful oasis from the busy Sorrento street. Long walk from train station with child and luggage and at least 15 mins walk from anything else in Sorrento. Breakfast in the cabana next to the pool was great with views over the garden and other guests to chat with. Very friendly and helpful and very nice to young kids!

This B & B was an excellent value. The grounds were beautiful and the breakfast was excellent; fresh baked goods each day and the best coffee in town. The owners couldn't have been nicer. We were assisted with our luggage and even given a ride to the port when we went sightseeing. It's a bit of a walk to town, but not far enough that I wouldn't stay here again should I "Return to Sorrento". I would definitely recommend this B&B.

We enjoyed our stay and, in fact, extended it one day to allow us to see more of the coast. The hosts were gracious, the breakfast very good, everything was very clean and attractive. The location was convenient to the city center to which we walked every day for meals and shopping. In fact we walked to the train station with our luggage on the day of departure. However, the room itself was sparsely furnished, the bathroom was spartan (no soap dish in the shower) and the bed was not very comfortable.

We stayed here for 11 nights [March 19-30, 2009]. Our room had a balcony overlooking beautiful large garden full of lemon trees and a swimming pool. The room, while on the small side, was spotless as was the bathroom. The rooms are very quiet, set well back of a relatively busy street. Daily maid service was provided. Included in the price was an excellent breakfast with home-baked pastries, fresh fruit, cheeses, etc. The location is excellent, a walk from the central bus and circumvesuviana train stations. For those with a car, parking is available on the property. We recommend this establishment highly as a base for active varied vacation in the Sorrentino peninsula and Naples area.

This was an excellent place to stay for the money. It exceeded our expectations. It is family run; has a great outside garden / courtyard; decent continental breakfast; and the room was as advertised. It was very quiet at night and could be fully darkened with shutters. The walk to the central square was a few blocks that felt very safe at all times of the day. Sorrento is a very nice city and everywhere we went it was a clean, safe, and friendly town. If you like what is described (this is not 5 star; but it is as advertised) then you will not be disappointed.

The hotel is very nice and I highly recommend it. The view from the balcony is great. The breakfast good with meat, chease, yoghurt, cereal, fresh fruit, good/special pastry and vegetable tort as well as made to order coffee. The staff very friendly. The room is comfortable and the bathrooms modern and comfortable. The restaurant right across the street recommended by the hotel is good but not cheap. A great place to have lunch right after arriving after travelling in the morning. The beach is a very long steep set of stairs, so unless you try to use the bus (we did not), be prepared for a strenous stair climb. But that is part of the convenience of the hotel to be so close to the beach without taking public transportation. There is a mini-bar in the room but the prices are high but there are two small shops both left and right on the street in front of the hotel to get drinks and snacks. The one on the right makes sandwiches which you can eat looking at the great view from the balcony. The hotel staff speaks English and were very helpfull in making taxi reservations. I was traveling with my wife and two adult children who were over packed so I needed to use a taxi instead of a local bus. The taxis are not cheap. I would definitely stay here again when I return

The property is in a beautiful walled in oasis just far enough away from the crowds, but an easy walk to all the action in Sorrento. The gardens are beautiful with fruit trees, grapevines and all sorts of flowers. Our room had a private patio which helped to extend the living space. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated with enough space for the two of us. There really is very little floor space though. We laid one suitcase on the floor and kept the other in the closet. While it was a little noisy, we had earplugs and weren't bothered at all. The pool is for family use only, which we knew ahead of time. The price and value were excellent and the owners were very welcoming and accomodating. We would love to stay here again and highly recommend Villa Anna.

Villa Anna was a wonderful place to spend several days: our room was huge, the bed was comfortable, and the people were incredibly kind and helpful. We had our own spacious terrace looking into the garden: the walls of the compound blocked out street noise very well, so sitting outside was pleasant in the evenings. Breakfasts were good, and someone on staff made your preference of coffee every morning. Villa Anna is about a 15 minute walk from the city's shopping and restaurant core, but the walk is scenic and not strenuous.

Anna's is Secluded walled compound 2 blocks from city center. Walkable both ways except in rain. There are a variety of rooms, all air conditioned and on first floor: 2 studio rooms face the pool and garden. a couple other rooms, 1 of which is a 1 bedroom and a very large 4-person room with a queen, a single and a futon. comes with kitchen. All rooms ensuite and spotless. Anna's family lives on the other 2 floors and provide cleaning and breakfast. We found everyone to be beautiful, inside and out and felt welcomed. Unfortunately, with the current dollar exchange rate, it's not that cheap but still better than anything else in Sorrento. Italian only TV but you didn't come to romantic Sorrento to watch TV. IT IS Difficult to find! There's just a solid metal gate in the wall with a small plaque saying "villa Anna". It was 1 1/2 blocks farther (N or NW) than my GPS said it was also. It is across the street from a hair salon, but we found it and loved it. Parking area small but inside the compound and free. The pool is off-limits for guests but just pretend it doesn't have one. I think Anna's family doesn't want a bunch of unknown foreigners in their family pool. Who can blame them for that. We highly recommend this B&B.

Very spacious room, which included a small kitchen. Staff were very helpful. Beautiful gardens, shame the pool couldn't be used by guests! Hope to return soon

This is the first time we stayed at Villa Anna and did so on the recommendation of friends who had been there in Sept 2007. Our room was beautiful, with a fabulous terrace where we enjoyed an early evening bottle of wine with views of the mountains overlooking Sorrento. The gardens were lovely and contained beautiful lemon trees with the largest lemons we'd ever seen! Breakfast provided a fabulous array of options which was presented in a friendly and unintrusive way. It was a great recommendation and we'd happily recommend it to anyone we know.

We loved our stay at Villa Anna. Very friendly staff and they had a lovely breakfast available when you woke up. Our double room had a little patio under an awning attached which we sat out and enjoyed. The bathroom was large enough you could actually walk around in it. Would definitely recommend to others. Walk to and from the train station and main downtown of Sorrento wasn't very bad at all.

We stayed 3 days at Villa Anna and were well pleased. It is in a quiet but convenient area of town. The grounds are lovely. Breakfast is excellent! Room is clean and spacious. Kitchenette very convenient. We would stay there again.

We had a queen size bed on the first floor which met our needs perfectly. We were able to store my husbands wheelchair in their breakfast room. We loved the daily breakfast and our hosts were most accommodating, calling taxis for us as needed. It was very quiet which is important for us as my husband must sleep during the day as he suffers chronic pain. I want to give clearer directions to Villa Anna than were posted on this site previously. From the train station, you cut through a circular street(tour buses and taxi que here) and walk down the small hill to a main street, Corso Italia and turn right. Walk past post office on your left and pizza parlor and gelato store on your right (both excellent). Turn left on Viale Nizza a short commercial corridor (1 block) with some lovely shops. Turn right on Via Bernadino Rota, walk about 4 minutes. Villa Anna comes up on your left. There is a small sign. You can't see into the large property until the electronic gate is opened. It's about 10 minutes walk from the station and the opposite direction from Old Town Sorrento, Piazzo Tasso. We recommend it unreservedly.

Villa Anna is in secure locked grounds directly from the road. The room was spotlessly clean and everything in the bathroom was working properly. There was a good selection of foods and beverages for breakfast, and the ladies who run it were extremely pleasant and helpful, supplying us with a map and recommending places to visit etc. It's about 10 minutes to the train and bus station, on foot, and a little longer to the Marina, down steep steps, (or you could take a bus). Good value for money and to be recommended. We stayed one week. Over 65s are admitted free to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Villa Poppea, so take copy of passport or some other identification. Pound/Euro exchange rate makes dining out more expensive.

We stayed here last year as a group of six adults and one 18month old to attend our daughters wedding. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Our daughter and her husband-to-be came to our rooms to get ready for their wedding and were made most welcome even though they were not staying at Villa Anna. Nothing was too much trouble and we were all made to feel very welcome. The breakfasts were very good with a nice variety and good coffee. We would definately stay again and recommend to friends.

The staff were extremely helpful and considerate. The place is about 10 minutes walk from the "old centre" of town, but my Mother and I did not find that a problem.

Although we had wanted a property with a view, the convenience of the intown location was a wonderful trade. It was a matter of minutes to walk to restaurants, the train station, or the marina. Tony, Louisa, and Nina were so pleasant. We are from Florida, so enjoyed the citrus trees in the courtyard and the fresh blood orange juice with breakfast. We wanted to leave early one day for our trip to Pompeii, so they happily served breakfast early.

Lovely B&B close to the centre of Sorrento. Bit difficult to find in the dark, but it was an easy, level walk from the station. Just watch the traffic when you walk out the gates as there is no proper footpath immediately outside. The room was lovely, we had one that opened up on to the terrace/verandah (overlooking the pool), as requested. The gardens are beautiful and really add to the experience. Continental breakfast was great and included cereal, breads, yoghurt, fresh fruit, croissants. Definitely recommend this B&B!

It's a short walk from the train station. The property is pretty and private, in a small citrus orchard. The breakfast was a little weak compared to others I've had. It was too cold for swimming, but the pool was nice.

Superb oasis close to the centre of Sorrento, everything that the other reviewers have said is true! One thing to note is that, when approaching Villa Anna, the entrance is not all that obvious and, particularly from the direction of the station appears as a blank wall, it does have a sign above the wall height and is opposite a hairdressers. Well worth a visit.

Excellent property with nice garden. A bit of a walk from the train station but no hills or stairs. Excellent breakfast facility separate from the main building. Helpful, friendly staff.

Great little hotel! I would highly recommend this property. Clean and comfortable rooms. The owners are friendly helpful people. The best breakfast of our entire 3 week stay in Italy. On site parking is a great asset and a must in Sorrento. Park your car and walk or take public transport. Driving in Sorrento or on the Amalfi Coast is crazy! The property is located within walking distance of the heart of Sorrento. The only downside is that it is hard to find. There are many Via Rota in Sorrento. This is on Via Bernadino Rota. It is only marked by a small sign visible from one direction.

Villa Anna met my expectations and then some. It was clean, bright & cheery. Tony even waited up for us to check us in at 11PM. Best aspects were the personal A/C in your room and the great breakfast buffet. Not so great were the quality of the map to find the place and the fact that it is a 10 minute walk from the center. Although on the other hand that did give us time to walk off the copious amounts of pasta and wine we had consumed. I would definitely stay here again.

Especial atención a Positano y Capri. Unas vacaciones estupendas, se lo recomiendo a todo el mundo!!

Our stay in Villa Anna was very relaxing, the quad room is very spacious, clean with kitchen and air conditioning. The staff/owners made our stay in sorrento very comfortable, breakfast is served amongst the lovely gardens with homemade cakes and jam plently to eat.Oh and the kids will love the hot chocolate. The location is only a 10 min walk to the circumvesuivana station and 5 min walk down viale nizza you will find a great supermarket and shops. The centre of sorrento is not far from the station. Our stay at Villa Anna was only four nights, from 27-31 July 2007. We hope to stay longer next time and would stay here again. Thank you louisa and nina we hope to visit u soon.I will recommend your Villa to family and friends whom wish to visit the lovely Sorrento. Grazie! Venere a great find!

Wonderful stay... Just far enough away from the main hussle and bussle of the town but an easy walk to it. Serene, beautiful landscaped gardens and unbelievably big hydrangeas. Felt like home. Great breakfasts. Definitely exceeded our expectations and added to the whole Italian experience of the Sorrento/Amalfi area. Great place for family.

Luisa and her sister were very nice to us. The quality of the room was excellent. The breakfast was well prepared and delicious. They were prompt to help and tell us about bus, ferries and things to visit in Sorrento. One thing that I need to comment is the fact that we could not use the pool. One of the reasons I booked the bed and breakfast was the fact that the property advertised the pool. When we got there we could not use the pool. If they delete pictures about the pool, people will know that the pool is off limits. In general teh room and the service is excellent.
