Fantastic experience if,like us,you want to have a real Tuscan feeling to your stay.Fulvio is a tremendous host & gave us wonderful advice for trips to all the sights from Florence to Sienna & beyond. Our room was basic but clean & adequate if a bit small but the food is terrific.Breakfast is very good & can keep you going all day but it is in the evening,if you choose to join in,that Fulvio excels himself.4 course of traditional local fare with all the guests together in the open air<weather permitting> or all sat around one big table& a different wine for each course. The conversations & humour were great!! We only selected it as a touring base but ended up having a truly wonderful holiday. My only suggestion for improvement would be a more visible sign on the roadside.

What an amazing B&B this is. Fulvio and Katia wonderful hosts. The 4 course meals every night were a must..Breakfast was great also. Fulvio helps you plan your itinerary everyday with what sights to see. The cooking class was fantastic, certainly worth doing if you have the time. We loved our stay there in the pink room, it was just like being part of one big family with everyone sitting down to the night time meal. Well done Il Vicario you provide something very special for your guests. Fulvio has a great sense of humour and very welcoming. Thankyou

My boyfriend and I just returned from 2 night stay at Il Vicario. We stayed at 3 different places in Tuscany and this was BY FAR the best. Though it is tricky to find at night (our GPS couldn't find the location) Fluvio came and picked us up and took us to the place. After our long and stressful journey he also cooked a fantastic meal. The scenery is picturesque and a short drive to San Gimignango. We enjoyed great conversation with the other guests and felt right at home. We also participated in the cooking classes they offer. They are well worth it! I learned so much and it will be a great "souvenir" for years to come. Though we moved around in Tuscany, if I did it again I might just stay there the whole time.

After finding the place we had a wonderful time. Fulvio and his niece, Katia were gracious and most helpful. My wife lost her pocketbook while we were in town and Fulvio went to great lengths to help us (unsuccessfully) find it. The views of the rolling hills of the vineyards were breathtaking. Also Fulvio's recommendations were spot on for restaurants. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Jim Rowley

We stayed at Il Vicario for 5 nights last September. It fulfilled our expectations. We met two incredible hosts, excellent home made dinner prepared each day by his owner and niece, comfortable beds, a 5 minutes drive from San Gimignano. Beautiful landscape, great expertise of the area and valuable tips were provided by Fulvio in order to enjoy our day trips around Tuscany. Everything you need for a perfect holiday when touring Tuscany by car.

Fulvio, the owner made our stay very enjoyable, first by greeting us with some wine and nibbles. We walked down the road and had fantastic views of San Gimignano. We choose to have dinner prepared by Fulvio ( 25E (p/p with wine) on the terrace and it was great. Who could beat the price. Plus I had not intention of driving at night. Our breakfast was lovely as well. The location is countryside, a little hard to find, just like anywhere in Italy, but call Fulvio and he'll come and meet you and escort you back to the B&B. My only comment is the shower could use a little upgrade, but functional none the less. We would return again.

Bathroom in Room 3 in desperate need of renovation, shower broken, very small and scruffy. Charged double room rate for single occupancy so therefore not good value for money. Breakfast adequate but lacking fresh bread, not very inviting. This is our 2nd stay here, but will not return again.

Il Vicario was a really superb B&B in stunning surroundings. Five minutes form San Gimingnano by car with very friendly and helpful owners. They recommended some great restaurants, but they would also coook dinner for us if we wanted. The meals they cooked were reputed to be 4/5 courses, a bottle of wine with each course. Fantastic if you hadn't got an early start the next moring as we had. Would recommend this place - we were sorry we were only staying one night. Cookery classes available too !

Look no further; book your room and dinners at Il Vicario now. This was our favorite hotel experience on our 3 week trip. You will have a wonderful stay filled with warmth, laughter, enthusiasm and passion! Fulvio and his niece Katia attend to your every need with a smile. They both truly enjoy their guests. The apartment we had was large and absolutely immaculate. Il Vicario is situated in a gorgeous location only a 5 minute drive from San G. and is a perfect location to explore Tuscany. Each morning after a delightful breakfast, Fulvio will be happy to assist you with your day trips. He is prepared with his vast knowledge of the area and beyond, and has many maps, brochures etc. for your use. Make sure you give yourself time to enjoy relaxing in the courtyard, pool and the immediate countryside area for walks. We especially loved the dinners. We sat at a long table with 5 other couples all from different countries. The food was excellent and each course paired with a local wine produced by Fulvio’s friend. We have traveled all over the world and yes, have stayed in fancier 5 star hotels, but, none compare with the wonderful overall experience we had at Il Vicario! We feel we left Il Vicario with wonderful memories and two very special friends in Fulvio and Katia.

We stayed for one night on a walking holiday. Fulvio was very welcoming and very helpful. He gave us a great suggestion to eat in San Gimignano, even though all his other guests were eating in that night with home cooked food (you can get cooking lessons with Fulvio too). We joined them after for some wine. Fulvio gave me a map for the next day's walk which was also very useful. Lovely place to stay for a short break if you want to be in the country with a friendly family atmosphere.

Thank you to Fulvio, owner and host, who made our stay at Il Vicario memorable. Besides being a wonderful chef, he was always ready with suggestions for itineraries and restaurants in the region. I felt we received very good value for the price. As expected, the accomodations were clean, adequate and rustic. We were made to feel very much at home by Fulvio and his neice, Katia. We were in the only downstairs room and unfortunately could hear every footstep upstairs - fortunately those guests slept nearly as long as us so it was not a problem but early risers would disturb the downstairs guests - request an upstairs room. Our stay at Il Vicario lived up to all the comments we read on your website. We thought that the setting was beautiful and everything about Il Vicario was fantastic - Katia and Fulvio's hospitality, the room, the swimming pool and the ambiance. In particular, we really enjoyed eating our evening meal outside at Il Vicario with other guests. The food was excellent and really good value and it was good to be given a variety of local wines during the meal. The only problem was that the directions to Il Vicario were a bit misleading. We would thoroughly recommend Il Vicario for anyone with a car and we hope to return in the future.

Our room had cross-ventilation, a plus on the warm summer nights. It was our first time at Il Vicario, and we had a most difficult time finding it according to web directions. What a beautiful place! Located about a 5-minute drive from the gates of San Gimignano, Il Vicario is set on a lane amidst vineyards and rolling fields with a view of San Gimignano and its towers in the distance. The rooms are immaculate, the pool is inviting, the hosts are friendly and hospitable. The house is an old stone farmhouse, but immaculate with great artsy/antique touches. We enjoyed dinner at the B&B one evening for 25 euro pp. 4 courses with paired wines. Wonderful! Went for a run in the morning along the lane. Excellent location for running, cycling, relaxing. We also had our two small dogs and they were warmly welcomed too.

Il Vicario was by far the best B&B of our stay in Italy. Their friendly welcome and a glass of wine on the outdoor terrace was wonderful after a day of traveling there from Rome. The building was a restored vicarage from the 1300's and all the rooms were simply but comfortably decorated. The high point of our stay there was a dinner they prepared (25 euro/person - cheaper than most restaurants in the region) that turned out to be four courses, all of local produce, each with an accompanying local wine and all explained by our host, Fulvio. We can only hope to return there some day. Speaking of which, finding Il Vicario was no problem with a GPS, but would be quite a challenge with a map.

Bathrooms are rather small, but this inconvenience is more than made up for by the host, Fulvio, who is extremely warm, helpful and welcoming. He and his sister are excellent cooks and offer dinner with wines for an additional reasonable fee. Tables, chairs and umbrellas are set up outside where we spent a lot of time. The weather was perfect in Sept. It's a very friendly place in a good location for day-tripping. If you've never been to San Gimignano it's only 10 minutes away. There is a pool and the B&B is surrounded by lovely views and quiet roads and fields. Breakfast is nothing special, but Fulvio was very accomodating when a guest requested something more. This place is away from the crowds and a delightful spot with great views across Tuscan countryside towards San Gimignano. If you are travelling by car this place is ideal as a base for exploring this part of Tuscany but there are walking/cycling routes running by so that we were easily able to go for an early morning walk from Il Vicario into the 'campagne'. The room was very comfortable and appropriately furnished with a rural feel.No air conditioning but we just flung open the window and draped across the diaphanous curtains to keep the minibeasts at bay - and the walls of the building are thick so the room retains a coolness throughout the day. The bed was big, with crisp clean, cool sheets and a delight to lie on. The bathroom and shower were good - plenty of hot water and room to wash/scrub etc in the shower. The use of the swimming pool is a great bonus. The breakfast (out on the terrace) was a generous plate of toast, patries , cakes and biscuits - washed down with fruit juice and coffee and for the one of us that doesn't drink the black stuff a big bottle of mineral water was produced in seconds - no problem, no fuss! The property address and location given on this website (Ulignano) is misleading - it is actually at Sant Andrea j about 3km north of San Gimignano - so locate it on a good quality map before going or phone for directions when in the area. All in all an enjoyable stay and good value for money - thoroughly recommended and would return.
