I and 3 friends travelled to San Gimignano last saturday. The city is beautiful, the apartment is beautiful and hosts were unbelievably nice! Sara (Fabio's daughter, who spoke english) introducted us all the sites worth seeing as well as some good restaurants upon our arrival. she even called up restaurants to make dinner reservation for us! AND the host would offer a ride to the trainstation on the day of your check-out. In general, great apartment, great central location, and the hosts just everything even better~

From the first email I rcvd from Fabio to the moment he dropped us off at the train station I knew I made a friend forever. You are amazing Fabio seeing your excitement as you showed us the amazing view of the towers from your windows and seeing how you enjoyed our pleasure and joy in such a romantic city was magnificant. You truly are our friend and we can not wait to come back to San G and stay for a Week vs. 1 night stop over. You are the best! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Michelle & Phil

This was one of the most amazing places to stay on our entire visit through Italy. It was unique and authentic and just charming. Fabio and his daughter were amazingly welcoming and were the very best hosts. The location is perfect and the price was quite good. Although San Gimignano is quite touristy during the day, the nights were relaxing, quiet and the apartment was just right. The loft has room for additional people (kids would love it) and the sky lights look up to one of the towers in town. Stayed there for an entire week and wouldn't have changed a thing! Fantastic!

Fabio saved our lives! We had a few emergencies, and he made four trips from the next town to help us with an emergency phone message, retrieving money at Western Union, when we locked ourselves out, etc. The apartment Contessa is gorgeous with every amenity. The photos don't do it justice... it was so comfortable and our welcome was very very special. Fabio showed us great places to eat (even made reservations!) and all the local places of interest on the map. We LOVED San Gimignano, mostly due to Fabio and the Contessa apartment... right off the Duomo Square! He was by far the best of all our hosts in 6 different cities and towns.

Fabio is an excellent host. Il Duca is our choice of apartments simply because of the view. We love San G and just keep going back. The apartment is perfectly located.
Room Details
Apartment "Il Duca" (2-6 beds)Bright three-roomed apartment (85 mq). With its twelve windows it offers a beautiful panoramic view of the surrounding Chianti countryside, the nearby gardens, the ancient buildings and the legendary Torre del Diavolo. It is finely furnished with "arte povera toscana" furniture. Spacious living room with kitchen corner, twin room, double room and a large bathroom with shower and bath. The apartment is equipped with TVSat, washing machine, safe and hairdryer.
Apartment "La Contessa" (2-4 beds)
Lovely Two-roomed apartment (55 mq) with a comfortable terrace for outdoor dinners (10 mq). It is finely furnished with "arte povera toscana" furniture. Living room, separate kitchen corner, bathroom with shower, bedroom with a charming mezzanin floor from which it is possible to see the towers. The apartment is equipped with TVSat, washing machine, safe and hairdryer.

INCLUDED/NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE The price includes sheets and towels, electricity, hot water, final cleaning. Additional bed, baby cot and high chair are available upon request and free of charge. Extra costs: heating on consumption, private garage. If the apartment is available, you will be able to book it immediately! In order to make reservation you need to pay a deposit (25%) as guarantee. By carHistory of the building
In the famous Piazza del Duomo, in front of the Cathedral, near the Palazzo del Podestà and the little city theatre (XVI century), is set Palazzo Chigi, one of the most ancient and prestigious buildings in San Gimignano. Its history is strictly linked to that of the city. It is a patrician building, with a large front split into different levels. This is a typical example of a local house with tower, which in the Middle Ages was an important symbol of nobility and power. The Ancient Documentation of the building tells us that it was constructed in the first half of the thirteenth century.
Although the building takes the name "Chigi", the Chigi family was not responsible for its construction, but perhaps Count Antonio was the most important person that lived in it. The building belonged to the families Savorelli and Abbracciabeni, and later became the residence of the Useppi family. This powerful family had many successors, some of them were engaged in local policy (they were Guelfi), and others were dedicated to the lucrative saffron trade, which was the main activity in San Gimignano. Appreciated for its artistic beauty, the building is one of the richest and most important testimonies to the art and history of the town.
