I normally don't not take the time to complain, but this stay was very sub-par for the price and I feel like others should be warned. Breakfast is very poor in quality and selection of the food items limited. The coffee was cold and disgusting and the bread and rolls hard. Also, breakfast is served in your room by a person who would not smile or make any effort to communicate One day, breakfast was not delivered at all and the staff told us it was "our fault" because we had not submitted a food request. (we did) The water stream in the shower was very low, making bathing a long process. The water temperature could not be set consistently and would vary from cold to burning hot in a moment. Ouch! When I tried to call the front desk to complain, I found the telephone didn't work either. The room in general was dimly lit, a little depressing and the bed very hard to sleep in. Sorry, but I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.

nicely furnished, comfortable room with slightly firm bed (beautiful linen sheets).Great size bathroom for Rome. Very quiet location but in a nice street and within walking distance of Rome sights. Excellent breakfast. The staff was friendly enough and accommodating. It was our 4th trip to Rome and was by far the best hotel and will definitely come back.

GOOD things: breakfast brought to your room, clean room for the most part (aside from some obvious, been there a while dust in easily seen areas). private bathroom NOT-SO-GOOD things: overpriced for what you get (180 euros) - basic room with not so comfortable bed and a little bathroom. one little level up from basic. awful thing: THE PILLOWS!!

A fantastic, charming location. Rooms are not large and there are limited services onsite for the needy tourist, but this hotel is stylishly simple and smart and a great find for independent travellers in a city which I adore and have been coming to for over 20 years but which is often let down by overpriced and outdated accommodation. I would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to others.

The location of the relais could not be better. It was on a small (quiet) side alley off Via dei Coronari - a quaint, interesting street closed to car traffic. For the traveler intent on seeing many of Rome's top sites, the central location near Piazza Navona is absolutely ideal. Just three blocks from Piazza Navona, four from Castel Sant'Angelo, with many other attractions and neighborhoods easily reachable by foot: the Vatican, Campo dei Fiori, the Coloseum, Trastevere, the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, and more. The rooms were well appointed, the facilities were clean and the atmosphere was very relaxing. We will definitely put this on the top of our list for our next visit to Rome

This was possibly the best hotel I have stayed in a European Capital based on price and rating. The hotel is located in a pedestrianised street only a few minutes walk from Piazza Navona and 10 minute walk to the Vatican. The old building has been restored with a very modern finish that does not deter from the original structure. My room was very spacious. Breakfast which you order the evening before is delivered to your room at time that you specify, so you can have breakfast in bed. There are some really good restaurants on the same street with great value for money and bars in the nearby squares. The 40 & 64 bus stops nearby & these will transport you a lot of the central attractions. I definitely recommend this hotel if you are going to Rome.

A perfect, no-frills place to stay with a superb location in the historic part of Rome, 2 minutes' walk to Piazza Navona, 8 to Pantheon. The staff was helpful, room a good size, bathroom sparkling clean and quite new. Breakfast was served in the room at the exact time requested, and the bed was lovely and comfortable. On a cold night we got a lovely warm duvet without even asking! My husband and I enjoyed every minute and we will certainly come back!

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is a little difficult to find, but once you found it the location could not have been better. Close to everything...walking distance to Pantheon and the Vatican and most major sites. We had a regular double bed. The room was small (by American standands not European) but the bathroom was large and roomy. Room was a little dark, but all in all it was wonderful. Breakfast served in the room at the time we specified and it was delicious.

Fantastic location, right in the middle of the 'historical quarter'. Great restaurants and bars only a moments walk. Great access to all the major attractions in Rome, especially the Vatican. Perfect for a city break long weekend when you just want to drop your bags and go. Lovely big beds and good styling, doesn't feel like the usual faceless hotels or old and tired. Will be recommending this to all my friends. It would have been nice to have had a table and chairs in the room as breakfast is served to your room, other than that FANTASTIC!!

This hotel was simply great, I ONLY found 2 things that could be improved: First, my room, 201 was in front of the kitchen where they prepared breakfast in the morning, and it was a bit annoying to hear the capuccino machine from 7:30 AM. Second, the bread that comes with breakfast was a bit dry, found out latter on that they defrost it every morning, so it is not fresh from the day. But, these are the only 2 little tiny things that went wrong, So really I have no complaint from this hotel, our double room was huge and the sheets were very clean, also the bathroom, that was big with bath tube, hair dryer, toiletries, etc. Pietro at the reception seems distant at the begining but soon you find out he's really nice and helpful. Air Condit.working well, also the kettle, and breakfast was good enough (I had read some bad reviews about the breakfast before), at least for a Spanish and a New zealander, and it included: Milk, coffee, capuccino, chocolate milk, croissants, bread, toasted bread, honey, butter, jams, "nutella", boiled egg, youghourt, fruit juice...You could choose what you wanted the day before and they bring it to your room...Really, it was enough, it's a matter of not being shy when ordering breakfast, if you are really gonna eat what you ask for. Finally, the area, really, the best in Rome, I think, even at night, not dangerous at all...Last but not least, if you end up going to this hotel, try ice creams at "gelatteria del teatro", just a few steps from the hotel going towards piazza navona (think it only opens on summer though), really, I had never tried Ice creams as good as these, try the fruit ones better than the chocolately...you'll be surprised

The staff is extremly hospitable and helpful. The only minor disappointment during our stay was connected to the fact that one of my blouse was lost in laundry. But anyway it's not the fault of the hotel. There is no elevator in the hotel, so it's worth remembering, if you have a lot of luggage. It's also could be a little bit noisy, if you open windows. In our case it wasn't necessary, since we used airconditioner.

Very nice and cute hotel in the middle of Rome. It's located very near to the Vaticano and to the Piazza Navona... Also Fontana di Trevi and Piazza di Spagna are in a walking distance. We loved this hotel! They may not have a breakfast area, but they bring breakfast to your room and it was pretty good. The rooms are spacious and modern and clean. However, the best part is the location. Right off the antique road in Rome, walking distance to almost everything. We loved staying here and will recommend to anybody travelling to Rome. No lift, but you get used to it in Europe.

We booked this Taverna based on previous favourable reports on the Venere web site and its location in Rome. Our room was a good size with excellent shower room and air conditioning. We could not fault the high standard of cleanliness of the room which was cleaned with fresh towels each day.The room was also equipped with a fridge and safe.Breakfast was served in the room at the time you requested between 8-10 having completed a tick sheet the night before. The staff were pleasant and extremely helpful. The location is perfect in old Rome less than a minute walk from CastelSt Angelo and 5 from Piaza Navona with excellent public transport and reasonable places to eat nearby. I would definitely come back again and recommend it to any friends coming to Rome

This town hous suite in Rome was a wonderful experience. We stayed here for one week, and except for the first night, when we got a spacious appartement next door that smelled of smoke, we were very happy with the hotel and it's surroundings. It is as centrally located in the historical centre of Rome as possible. In addition, it is in a pedestrian area, so it's really quiet. If you take a taxi to the hotel, it will bring you to the entrance, but if you come by bus, you will have to walk about 250 meters with your luggage. From the hotel, we walked to every sight, and there were lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel itself is a charming old townhous with modern interiors. Nice, tiled bathrooms, and individually controlled airconditioning. Very serviceminded staff. There were no breakfast room, but in the evening you just filled out a form to order your breakfast, and it was served in your room at the requested time. Nice decent breakfast with choices like bread, croissants, butter, jam and honey, cereals, yoghurt, juice, milk, and various hot drinks. The coffee with warm milk tasted really good. There is no elevator in the property. We paid 80 euros a night, breakfast included, which we consider a bargain in early July. We would definitely stay here again.

Very nice ang lovely hotel - look just like the pictures. The hotel is situated just next to Piazza Navona (300 m) and also close to the Vatican (500 m) and is close to everything, which means that it is possible to walk to all the attractions. Breakfast i served in the room and was a nice touch. You can choose from lots of different food and drinks (coffe, cappuciono, croissants, bread, youghurt, orange juice etc.), but if you are into english breakfast you might be disappointed. At arrival we were told that the room we book was occupied by another traveller that didn't check out as planned and that we could not have it. We were told that they would book us another room if we wanted them to......! Having been travelling for hours we said NO we are staying here and we finally got a room...! Overall our stay at the Relais Pallazzo Terverna was very good and we can recommed it to everyone.

This Hotel was a major disappointment. The reception staff were miserable and uncooperative. The room was badly lit and tiny but clean and well decorated. I mentioned three times to different reception staff that (1) the safe was not working (2) the fridge was not working and (3) the water from our shower was merely a trickle of water and nothing at all was done about these. Another evening we mentioned to reception that out tea and coffee sachets had not been replenished and were told that he couldn't do anything about it and to mention it again in the morning ! The breakfast was bland and not always what we asked for or at the time we requested it. On a positive when we mentioned our experience to a kind elderly gentleman when checking out he gave us a 100 euro discount for our 5 day visit. The hotel is in a great location in the heart of the historic centre. However, it chucked it down for the whole period we were there but I suppose we can't blame the hotel for the weather !!

I thought the hotel was amazing. Great location, hotel decor excellent, very clean etc. The only complaint i would have is that the jug in our room was not working properly and despite us asking the staff to replace it, we did not get another one for our entire stay. It was a little disappointing because after several action packed days trooping around Rome it would have been nice to come back to a cup of tea!! But this is a very minor point and overall I was extrememly pleased with the hotel. Would definately recommend to others.

Traveled on break-out on 5th wedding anniversary. Perfect location - anything Rome withing walking distance. Excellent service by staff, very helpful. Rooms nice, clean, well equipped, but dark for sun-lovers (downtown location - narrow streets). Construction noise during day-time from 3rd floor construction, room changed after Day 1. Make sure to indicate more pieces of same food on breakfast card (i.e. if you want to get 2 croissants). Would go back for central location, but request a room with more day-light & air (street-facing).

I stayed here for five nights in mid-October. For a place that's listed as a budget hotel, the Relais Palazzo Taverna is a great find. Of course budget is a relative term these days what with the dreadful shape of the dollar. My room was basic, but nonetheless well-appointed, well maintained, and clean, as was the bathroom. Breakfast, which was included in the price, was delivered each morning roughly at the time I requested on the delivery card. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. If the dollar doesn't improve I would definitely stay here again.....and maybe even if it does because the location is perfect. My one criticism is that the wifi signal was too weak to access the web.

The hotel is in a very quiet area and the rooms are modern, very clean and well decorated. The only small downside is that there is no where to sit ourside of the rooms, no roof terrace or small outdoor seating area. This also means that there is no breakfast area although breakfast was very efficiently brought to our room at the time we specified, which was a very suitable alternative to a buffet breakfast. We stayed for 3 nights and the hotel was very suitable for a short stay but the lack of relaxing space outside the room could make it less attractive for a longer stay. However, it's location was superb and it is in the middle of all of the important sights in the historical centre of Rome. This means that all sights are within easy walking distance with St Peter's only about 10 mins and Piazza Navona even closer at about 5 mins.
