CHECK AVAILABILITY

The Casa Cleo hotel, with its warm and friendly atmosphere, is an excellent option for those wishing to visit Rome. It's conveniently situated between the Termini Central Station (110 yards/100 meters)--the main transportation hub of Rome--and the Colosseum (440 yards/400 meters). Being so close to Termini and the central bus station makes it extremely easy to move to any part of the city--very useful indeed in Rome! And, of course, it's situated very close to many of the key sites: the Santa Maria Maggiore Church, the Colosseum, the Imperial Forum, Domus Aurea, the Trevi Fountain, and Michelangeo's Moses, all just a short walk away.

The cozy townhouse offers free WiFi Internet access. Nearby, there are a number of launderettes and supermarkets. And for those who want to know why it's called "Cleo"? It's the name of the dog. That's all!

Rome is a great city, very easy to walk to all atractions, very safe, for me everything was very close. I stayed in rome for 4 night and it was more then enough time to see everything around the city. This hotel is in a good location but the set up is very poor.... too many stairs to get to the rooms and they charge u to use the lift, when come back tired after a day out you dont look forward to get climb up all those hundreds of stairs. Its is acctually a residencial building, i didnt like it at all!!! i felt let down by this hotel. i could have got a much better hotel for the same price somewhere else in Rome.

Casa Cleo is an excellent budget B&B,clean and friendly and helpful, you get what you pay for but the location is perfect and so close to Termini rail station for bus or train connections to the airport, it is right in the centre of Rome close to the Colosseum and you can walk to anywhere virtually. My tip is to buy a Roma Pass for 30 Euros (34 Euro from May 2013), you get two free entry to museum or historic site, so we got free entry to the Colosseum and the Palantine and Fora Romana, you then get discounted entry on other sites, it does not include the Vatican but does include free metro and bus journey so well worth it.

Excelent location. Bathroom very good and clean. Bedroom ok. Quiet: no noise from street. Very good relationship with owners. Access area (stairs etc) need make up. Lifter only from 2nd floor on and costed EU$ 0,05 (!!). Internet was not working then (but it seems that Internet maintenace services is a real problem in Italy)

It was an alright place to stay for the price. Had trouble phoning the owners, but We ended up we arriving when the bar (cafe brazil) next door was open (same owners) so we didnt have to wait for them to show up to let us in. However, after that the bar seemed to be hardly open and we only saw the owner once more. His english was understandable. Location seemed to be centered - 20min walk from the train station, 10 min to colosseum, but probably a half hour or so to the pantheon. Bathroom was a tad on the dirty side but manageable and just like everyone else says, it took awhile for there to be hot water. Room was clean, but was only cleaned once during our stay. Only received breakfast 2 out of four mornings we were there, not much to brag about anyway - a muffin and a juice. And the wifi didn't work our entire stay. But would return for sake of price and location.

We had a shared bathroom and were not informed of hot water shortage or schedule. Wifi did not work in room as indicated. Wifi was available in their bar but the hours were very limited and not convenient.

the location is excellent, however you must climb a flight and a half of slippery marble stairs before you reach the lift hard to do with heavy luggage. Although it was convenient the owner also would take you too the airport for 40 euros we found it a little tacky that he conveniently didn't have change when I gave him a 50 euro note this turned me off the place

If you agree to sleep in a room with not a best cleaning you have a good accommodation in the center of Rome. It's a B&B town house hotel with a light breakfast.

Nice, clean and big room with bathroom and windows facing mostly (4 of 5 nights) a surprisingly quiet backyard. Pleasent and helpfull staff, even though we arrived on a sunday during dinner. The standard was better than expected. Tip: If you like to take a hot and long shower, do it in the afternoon/evening.

Just don't! After experiencing wonderful accommodation in Rome for the same price, we thought that Casa Cleo would also be great. We were wrong. We were rudely greeted by the owners, who yelled at us for being late for check-in (we had just returned from Venice and had not specified a check-in time) - many comments were exchanged in Italian between the pair (I assume not complimentary). The lift to the third floor appartment only worked on the first evening, so beware if you don't like stairs or a good workout (particularly with luggage!). The room was very basic (not even a plastic cup provided) and while the bed was fine (two single beds pushed together, no bed bugs), the floor was dirty and there was rubbish under the bed. The bathroom was terrible. The shower stall was broken, so you needed to avoid panels falling on you or coming off. For every one minute of scalding hot water, you would get four minutes of glacial cold (there was seemingly no mixing the two) - although this was easy to avoid considering you needed to tap dance to get wet. The breakfast - hmmm... Good coffee, but it wasn't buffet - you had to ask the gruding owner (who wasn't really awake) for something and hope they were obliging. There are far better places in Rome for the same price. Don't let this place be a memory of Rome!

This hotel is located close to the train station and within walking distance of the Colosseum and the roman forum. The owners were kind and spoke great english. The rooms were HUGE compared to others we stayed in in Europe. We even had an extra bed even though the reservation was for 2 people. We had the private bathroom and it was just fine. The only issue was the first flight of stairs: if you have a ton of luggage, you can't take the elevator until you get up to the second floor so you have to carry it up. The owner was kind enough to carry mine for me. We checked in at the little cafe next door, which they also seem to own. I'd recommend it to someone on a budget.

Great location - walking distance from train station and tourist areas including the Colloseum. Breakfast served at the cafe brazil where keys are collected (2 doors down from hotel). Rooms were very spacious and clean. Shower ran hot and cold but I was aware of this from the feedback page. This was a small inconvenience for the location. Would stay again.

Casa Cleo shares ownership with a cafe downstairs. Our hosts were most welcoming and breakfast each morning was delicious. The location is about a five minute walk from Termini, the central train station in Rome, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area. The rooms (we had a double with a shared bathroom) are spacious and well lit. However, there were a few issues we encountered: - Cold Showers: The showers oscillated from extremely hot to very cold (while at the same temperature setting). The bipolar water usually starts off invitingly warm before becoming obnoxiously cold in five minute cycles. - Wifi: The rooms and cafe have wifi. However, the room wifi comes on and off intermittently. The cafe wifi is ok. - Safe: The electric safe in the room was jammed and thus, redundant. - Floor: Cafe Cleo is on the third floor, and taking the elevator costs 10 cents per trip. It's not an awful walk, just slightly annoying (especially with luggage). Overall, our stay at Casa Cleo was satisfactory for the price provided its fantastic location.

The place was good. Very well centered. Near the Collosseum and near to 2 metro-stations. The bed was fine and the room was clean. Only thing we didn't like was the shower. It was either very, very hot or very cold. In the few minutes in between you had the wash yourself...that was irritating. You hardly get any breakfast (just coffee and 1 croissant) but that's ok, because the shop near to casa cleo sells bread with cheese for just 1 euro. So, great place, awefull shower :) I would recommend the place! For just 40 euro pp you have a good stay.

The reception was very friendly. The room opposite us was being renovated, so it was noisy in the mornings. There could have been a hairdryer in the room, and there were only italian TV channels. The breakfast was only a croissant and coffee, but maybe this is the Italian way.

May 2010 - Wanted to be close to a metro stop and we were 300 feet away from the Cavour stop. We had to check-in at the Café Brazil at street level. Then you walk up 1 flight of stairs to get to an elevator that takes 2 coins (they give you coins each day) to operate the elevator. Casa Cleo is on the 4th floor so it’s a lot of stairs if you don’t use the elevator. Our room had a/c and a hotel safe as well as a locking armoire and its own bathroom. A breakfast of croissants and juice was served out of the café. The rate was 100E per night with a private bathroom. The window opened up into a small courtyard so the busy street traffic didn’t affect sleeping at all. Very quiet not facing the street. The hallway where the rooms exited out was noisy and you could hear everyone in the hall. The room was very clean and the bathroom was nice as well. The hot water was sporadic as it would go hot to cold and back again. Learned to live with it but would have preferred a continuous hot shower. Good location and a decent price. We would stay here again for the convenience. A little farther than the Cavour Metro station is the St Peter in Chains church. We walked to it twice to see Michelangelo’s Moses which was totally amazing. Free entry into the church and you can pay to turn the lights on the sculpture if you wish. It was no very crowded when we visited, another nice thing. Found a great kebab place one block away.

It has a very good position few minutes walking from Colosseo and Termini station. The room was clean and fine. The only compliant is about breakfast service as it was served in a bar just out the door but the croissants were always old and not good at all. Moreover on sunday and on 1st January the bar was closed so they gave us just a juice and a packed snack. Very poor considering that the breakfast should have been included in the price.

The stay was fabulous!! It was very easy to find...you check in at the bar next door...where they give you a typical European breakfast with the best cappuccino I have ever had!! Also in the bar is free wirless internet! When we got there the rooms werent ready they stored our luggage for us. The room we had slept three and we shared a bathroom...the room we had was the one pictured for the hotel..it was very clean! I had booked the room for 3...but my sister was only staying for one night so the owner adjusted the price for us...from this hotel location you can walk anywhere in ROME!!! It is one block away from the Stazione Termini (the railway and Metro)You have to walk up one flight of stairs to the elevator but it was no big deal...We were having so much fun we extended our stay another night...Highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast...Fyi this is not the Marriott...but it is wonderful

There is no sign outside so you have to follow the address very carefully. For Rome the price is OK and the location is very good - 10 min to Colosseum, public transport nearby. Only the elevator is a mystery. Would definately stay again.

An absolutely great location and not small rooms by European Standards, but beware of the 2-3 flights of steps required to get to the elevator in the center of the hotel. This did not go over so well for my older parents. Located 1 block South from the Maria Maggiore Basilica and 1 1/2 blocks North of the Cavour Metro stop, this location is perfect for a short visit to Rome. Some insider information is that you need to check into the B & B at the Brazilian Bar 2 doors up from the Casa Cleo - but they do take credit cards. Make sure you ask for the remote for the AC unit too. Use the Venere.com discount code (AN3RLST) to save 4% on your reservation there, too. The owners are very accommodating and even delivered take away breakfasts to our door in the am since we were leaving early for flight out. Rooms were large by European standards, but noisy neighbors above B&B made for one long evening. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed for a week, and the location made our trip all the better. Casa Cleo is literally just around the corner from the Forum, the Colosseum and other attractions. It does exactly what is says in the advert, it's not a luxury hotel but great vlaue for money and a nice environment for the budget traveller.
