Great location, right off the main street. Maddy was a great help both before and during our stay. Clean, comfortable room and private bath. Good town to stay in especially if you are heading south from here.

We stayed in Riomaggiore for 2 nights. Pros: the room is large and clean. We had an ocean side view from the window. The location is right in the heart of Riomagiorre. There's a restaurant right beside the hotel office, where the seafood pasta has been the best in Cinque Terre for me. There is a laundry mat nearby, a store and a take out place where you can buy food for cheaper. Cons: the price isn't that cheap but it's fair. There are lots of stairs leading up to the room and there's no elevator, so I don't recommend this to people who have difficulties climbing lots of stairs.

Nice size room, great little kitchen if you are tired of going out to dinner. It was a little noisy, but closing the windows fixed that. Also, be ready for some serious stair-climbing to get to the room. I would have preferred if there was someone on call beyond the hours of 9-5. But, otherwise, I thought it was a nice accommodation and very conveniently located nearby the train station.

The agency rents several rooms in different parts of the village. We had a nicely renovated room, however, unfortunately next to next floor's aircondition, that ran all night long and was very noisy.

Good location, but very noisy at night til midnight or later, as there is an outdoor bar across the street. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the room and the furniture. I expected a tiny cramped room, but it was at least double the size of what I expected. The biggest downside was the maids did a very poor job of cleaning. The floors were dirty, as were the mirrors and they never changed the towels... The droplets of blood we found on the spare comforter were kind of a downer too, Yuck !!! It seems like they just made the beds and left. Too bad, it would be a pretty nice hotel if it were cleaned better. There are no hotel services per se, as it is more of an apartment. I expected this and it was not a problem as long as that is what you are looking for. Not easy getting your luggage up the steep stone staircase to the room...

Lovely, spacious room. Very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location. No wifi in the room but there is free wifi at a nearby square. I did not find this a problem at all! I recommend it!

We actually found it to be better than expected. There was a mini fridge and hairdryer.....nice extra! The only drawback was the noise between rooms, but this is common in these converted buildings. All in all very good.

The room was adequate, but pretty stark. Some things seemed to be just for show, such as the heated towel rail, which didn't function at all. Our room looked out over the street and was a wee bit noisy, but that was usually all over by 11pm so didn't worry us - I had ear plugs anyway, but also needed a scarf around my eyes as it was quite light.

I stayed in a large room with a high ceiling. It was clean, comfortable, had a good bed with a firm mattress and a spacious private bathroom. The walls are a little thin, so if your neighbors are loud, it could be a problem.

Each room has a queen-size bed (that can be split upon request to make two single beds), private bathroom with shower, mini fridge, safe, A/C, central heat, and a 22 inch flat screen TV. All three Grifone rooms are located side-by-side in the same building (which is convenient if you are traveling with others and you'd like to stay close to one another). Please note that there are a total of 30 stairs to climb in order to reach these rooms (because they are in the historic center of the village there is no lift available).DeBATTE' rooms: Caribana offers three remodeled DeBattè rooms in the historic center of Riomaggiore. Each room has a queen-size bed, private bathroom with shower, central heat and mini fridge. All three rooms are located in the same building, but on different floors (which is convenient if you are traveling with others and you'd like to stay close to one another). Please note that there are numerous steep(!) stairs to climb in order to reach these rooms (because they are in the historic center of the village there is no lift available). *Please note that unlike the Grifone rooms, the DeBattè rooms do not offer A/C, safes or televisions.

How to reach Caribana Guesthouse
By carExit the autostrada in La Spezia and follow the road signs for the CINQUE TERRE. You will pass through the city of La Spezia and then find yourselves on a rural road. After passing through two tunnels you will see a turnoff for RIOMAGGIORE. Turn here and follow the narrow road to our village. Please contact us in advance so we can explain the parking situation to you (please note that parking is NOT included in the nightly rate).
By train
The Riomaggiore train station is just a two minute walk from our shared office where you will perform check-in (via Malborghetto, 4). Once you have made your way to our office and we have completed check-in we will personally accompany you to your room.
Here are the directions to our office from the Riomaggiore train station:
TIP: If you are arriving by train from La Spezia, keep in mind that Riomaggiore is only an eight minute train ride away (we will be the very first stop). Depending on what train car you are riding in, there is a possibility that when you stop in Riomaggiore you will find yourself inside a tunnel. Double check with other passengers to ensure that you have reached the Riomaggiore stop and then exit the train and proceed through the tunnel until you reach the exposed platform.
-When you exit the Riomaggiore train station, you will find yourself in a small piazza with a fountain and a large mural on the wall to your right.
-Just to the right of the mural you will see a pedestrian tunnel, go through it.
-At the end of the tunnel, the main street of Riomaggiore will be on your left (via Colombo).
-Go up this street approximately 30 yards (less than a minute walking).
-Our office is located on the left (under the portico), next to La Lampara restaurant. You'll see a large sign out front for Mar-Mar (we share an office)… you can’t miss us!
By airplane
The nearest international airports are Pisa & Genoa (Genova) which are serviced by the larger companies as well as the low-cost carriers. Pisa is particularly easy to navigate as the airport is easily connected by train to the main station in Pisa (Pisa Centrale).
