877-662-6988The castle, built in 1866, is an example of eclectic architecture in Rio de Janeiro and features huge indoor and outdoor spaces with high ceilings, wooden floors, and a tropical garden with mango, jaca, guava, lime and banana trees, creating the ideal atmosphere for couples, families and groups, either on holiday or business trips.
The Castelinho38 guest house amenities include bar & restaurant with terrace, TV room, lounge with puffs and Internet Point, complimentary wireless Internet connection, body and mind activities such as shiatsu massages, acupuncture therapy, yoga and pilates, outdoor play area for children and babysitting or childcare offered for an extra charge. There is one meeting hall for seminars and exhibitions, dry cleaning/laundry service and laundry facilities, and a souvenir shop.
Roundtrip airport shuttle is provided on request and for a surcharge, with 72 hours notice prior to arrival.

Santa Teresa is a marvelous neighborhood, and Castelinho38 fits with the architecture and the spirit. The folks at the desk were uniformly helpful with suggestions and guidance for my first time in Rio. Although on looking back at the Venere site I discovered it was not promised, I was surprised that the room I had was fan only--no air conditioning. Not a problem in March, but could be in other seasons...

Fantastic views from the terrace made breakfast even better. The rooms were quirky and the bed comfortable but storage space was scare. The location in the Santa Teresa district meant we had a good choice of restaurants and bars on our doorstep. I would recommend Castelinho38

Lovely location in the hills of Santa Teresa, with great public spaces, and balcony with views of the city. However, amenities were lacking - bedroom was furnished with only bed, dresser and (broken) chair, while bathroom was hostel-like (private, but sub-standard with a less-than-modern shower stall and limited plumbing). This was not problematic, though it was a surprise - I still recommend Inn Castelinho strongly for travelers looking for a more real Rio experience on a budget - you won't find this kind of personality at a beach hotel in Ipanema.

The B&B is very nice, but the room we got even though very clean was hardly spacious enough for one person, not to mention two. If you get this room downstairs at the back, it is really now worth 80 Eur a night. The staff was very nice and helpful.

The location of the Guest House Castelinho38 is really nice, in the heart of Santa Teresa. The house is very pretty, the view from the terrace where breakfast is served is spectacular, and the staff is extremely helpful. Our ground-floor room, however, was a bit noisy as it faced the terrace and was underneath the common area.

We have two dogs: Samba, a Boxer and Jazz, a Rodhesian. They are very friendly and lovely dogs.

By carThe main reference in Rio de Janeiro is Gloria, the neighbourhood just below Santa Teresa. Once up the hill, turn left at the Bonde railway (city’s old cable car), pass Largo dos Guimaraes, go towards the Bar do Mineiro. Take the first street on your right, pass the surveillance at the beginning of the street, turn right at the top of the road and you are in Rua Triunfo.
By train
From Carioca train station, take the Bonde cable car and get off at Largo dos Guimaraes stop and climb the pedestrian ramp.
