Inn Aluvi House Pretoria - Pretoria

The staff was welcoming on arrival and suggested places for us to eat. However, our room was not aesthetically inviting. Fluorescent lights, a single picture over the bed, a flat-screen TV placed high on the wall, A/C that took forever to cool the room, nowhere to place luggage, no place to sit other than the bed and a single chair at a small desk. Trying to sit comfortably on the bed was difficult because the headboard stuck out from the wall at the top, just about neck/head level. We had to scour for an available plug-in to use our laptop and charge our cameras. Our room would have benefited from additional artwork, thoughtful placement of an easy chair and TV, extra usable outlets at the desk and a luggage rack or low table to place a suitcase. The breakfast was adequate, but the person cooking my eggs started them and walked away. We had to suggest to her that they might be done, but by then they were like rubber. There was an hour of serving time left when we went to breakfast, but most trays and baskets were almost empty and never restocked. We did feel very secure on this well-gated residential property, and the pool area was beautiful, but we would look elsewhere for lodging in Pretoria.

Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff, and excellent restaurant. Better, and more facilities, than a guesthouse; friendlier, and more comfortable to stay and work, than an hotel - Is it a Guestel or a Hothouse? A place with its own unique charm. I would recommend it to anyone, and will certainly stay there on my next trip to Pretoria.
