I spent two nights in this magnificent city; the location of the Residencial is really great(very close to the old city centre), as well as cleanliness of rooms and toilet, perfect!. The only inconveniences were: a noise from the street, but I guess it's everywhere similar, and the fact that no one from the staff spoke a single word in English; it was a bit annoying for me, for I had several questions but no communication was possible. I think people running hotels should learn at least some basic English expressions, as it is the language of international communication nowadays..

Cheap hostel, near the centre of the city. Cleaning of room good. No heaters in the room, just a little stove. Noise from neighbouring rooms. Anyway, it's a good choise for a couple of days

Great location, free internet and *big* rooms. The building itself and the rooms are somewhat in the state of disrepair and could use a handyman or two but everything was functioning. My only small problem was that the staff does not speak a word of English and my Portuguese was even worse :-) so we had to find some creative ways to communicate, which was not a big deal because the staff was very welcoming

Friendly staff, reasonable price, pretty clean but bath room was a little smelly and towels needed replacement. The worst thing was the noise, it's like being outside as my room was facing the street and window wasn't tightly closed. Without earplug probably impossible to sleep. There is no heating at all, I'm wondering what it's like to be in dead winter.

It was good, exactly what we needed, clean and quiet. The Douro River was close, as the other public areas. I would come back to this hostel.

This pension is the ideal key for youngs,i think..chip and liveable.the bathroom is clean, there is also an exchange of towels.the staff is lovely and moderate. there was also a nice woman.very funny..however no problems. i think it's better to get some bedclothes by home, ever, not just in here. the only bad things, for me, was the moquette(carpeting) and the powder in the furnishings. nice holidays!

Overall it could be a fantastic hostel in a really good location. The rooms were okay and quite tidy but the whole place was quite run down and tatty, everything seemed a little bit bodged and it was obvious that very little money had been spent on the building in recent years. What really annoyed me and spoilt my stay was the money grabbing attitude of the proprietor...His wife was kind enough to do some washing for myself and my son and when I asked how much I understood from her six euros which he immediately upped to ten on the basis that we were tourists and did not understand what was being said. It was quite embarrassing and to add insult to injury the washing came back damp.

We stayed for two days. The cathedral and the Ribeira is near but not next to. There are some a bit noisy roads around the Pension.

Nice pension-type hotel, well situated near the old city centre, welcoming traditional staircase with a dome-shaped skylight; the well cared for and loved green plants bring a feeling of harmony to the whole place. We had a large room with 2 wide and comfortable beds, the en-suite bathroom, if not too modern, was very clean with several clean towels. Beds with very clean linnen were made in the morning. Good value for the price we paid and positive remembrance of the place.

Ottimo soprattutto per la posizione. Ideale per chi non ha esigenze particolari e desidera solo un punto d'appoggio per dormire senza grosse pretese qualitative. Comunque pulito e cordiale la gestione. Acqua calda. Ritornerei...

I was very pleased to pay only E25 although it was not a single room. The official charge was much higher. The lack of a lift was no problem. There did not seem to be any public rooms but I don't use them anyway, so no problem there. I would be very happy to stay there again. I was very pleased with it. Quiet too.
