A simple hotel but in a excellent area. The bus to the airport, shopping centre, great restaurant all to reach within 5 min. walk. The hotel is safe by closed doors only to open with staff. Super. My next stop in Porto will be there again.

Great Location, in the middle of Porto and very close to the night life attractions. Good value for money. However, it was a bit disappointing to see that breakfast was not open buffet. They serve you with only 2 pieces of bread, 1 croissant and some butter, jam. Breakfast room was too small as well.. It could be much better.

The hotel is clean and neat, breakfast is good. Service is fine. The location is close to everywhere in downtown, but if you want to stay in this hotal on weekends, this is not the hotel you are looking for. Our first night was Friday. It was fine for us even though next morning some guests made complain about outside noise. The worse night was Saturday night, the big music and noise all night. We thought it would stop after midnight. Not at all. At 2.30 early morning, I got down to question the front desk when the street party will stop, he said it will stop after 4 clock in the morning. He told me this is normal situation on the weekend nights. Throught the window, I saw a lots young people on the street, drinking, making noise and loud music. We left hotel early morning for catching up our train at 6 AM . The whole street was full of broken bottles

Good value for the money. Noise was not an issue during our three nights there but I can see as how it could be. It is dead center in a bar district one block from a university. Fair location. Helpful staff 24/7.

The bar downstairs is a delight. As much a restaurant as a bar, and very popular. Ditto the nearby Solar do Moinho de Vento. Need to book, but worth it.Restaurante Casa Viuva, diagonally opposite the 'Solar', looks like a transport cafe outside and not much better inside, but great food, lovely warm, casual, friendly, atmosphere. No TV, no music, just chat. And great value as well.

(one person, weekend) +: staff very friendly, breakfast of adequate quantity and good quality, room well furnished, room was quite clean -: located in a street with many bars and very loud nightlife (many people on the street from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.), window is good but not completely soundproof -: sink did smell -: bathroom: toilet was located behind wash basin and next to shower, thus very narrow, and the room could use a new painting

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Pensao Cristal in Porto. The room was a bit small but there was a nice balcony and nice bathroom. The breakfast was a good Portuguese breakfast (bread and coffee). The location was good but was uphill from many of the sites. The only drawback to this hotel was that it was noisy. It is located on a street that has many bars and there was music playing and people in the street until the early hours of the morning, which awakened us occasionally.

There is a disco in the same street that is open all night/morning. If your room is on the street side the noise with open windows is considerable. Breakfast is only served from 8am. If you have an early flight you miss out. Otherwise it's perfect; a bit crammed but the location is excellent and the price is VERY reasonable. The bathroom is very good.

This hotel is right in the middle of the main nightlife and the nightlife does not get going till around 0100hrs. If on a group of lads or lassies trip - ideal. If a couple, not the place for you. Quite basic, cheap and OK if that is what your looking for

What a pleasant stay! The staffis very warm, friendly & helpful and speak excellent English. Upon check-in Ana's eyebrows raised when she saw the rate; but she didn't say anything. We looked at the room price on our door to find that, thanks to Venere, we were paying 45 euros for a room that went for 70! The breakfast coffee was the best we had in 2 weeks; but the breakfast consisted of 2 types of bread/croissant & no real protein. Pensão Cristal is ideally located; but the Venere map indicates that it's on the other side of the river! 1 block away is a great little cafe Três C (or close.) Excellent reasonably priced meals in hip surroundings.

The hotel is very easy to reach from the airport by bus (601, last stop), it's located near the mean square of porto and the staff is very kind. There are also 2 restaurants and some cocktail bar nearby. My room (202) was a single one but large enough to someone that uses it only to sleep after a full day in porto! The bathroom was not so big but considering that the whole hotel occupies a very ancient building I wouldn't expect nothing better. The only thing to improve, in my opinion, is the variety of the continental breakfast, the same every day, but very good and tasty, anyway.. The overall sensation is that of a great value, excellent quality/price ratio hotel. Pensao Cristal is on of the best places to start visiting porto, I'll surely come back.

We were so fortunate to find this hotel. The location was brilliant in an attractive old street, close to excellent coffee and Portuguese pastries, and 2 minutes walk from the central plaza. The prices were excellent given the pleasant aspect of the hotel and the more than adequate breakfast (on white linen table cloths) was included. We had assumed that breakfasts would be added to the bill but they weren't. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. I do hope that the hotel's management appreciate what a great asset that they are to their business. Our room looked out on to the street that becomes a party street on some nights. While the party noise was obvious it had nothing to do with the hotel but came from nearby bars. Nevertheless, the room windows were double insulated and it really wasn't a problem for us and we slept well. I will definitely stay there on my next visit to the fabulous Porto

Very centrally located. Next to Clerigos Tower and near to Sao Bento station. A strange thing happened: I had a 4% discount reservation, but no one in the hotel seemed to know about this discount. At the end the extremely kind staff accorded to me the discount anyway. Friendly and kind staff!

Room at streetsite can be extremely noisy due to the bar next door. In my case there were about a hundred people partying in the street right underneath my window, until at least 3 o' clock at night. Besides that, I had a very pleasant stay. Good room, clean and spacious. Good value for monwy.

The best hotel we've had during our stay in Portugal. The location is near the attractions in Porto and there is a bus nearby going to the wine caves of Gaia. The room is very nice and clean. The included covered parking is a definite plus because a car would be very annoying in Porto. The continental breakfast is very good and the staff is amazingly helpful!!! I would definitively come back to this hotel and nothing else in Porto.

Great hotel, i enjoyed the breakfast, staff, location, cleanliness and overall service. It's rare to find such a great hotel at a price that was half of its competitors. If I had to find a complaint, it would be that I could hear the streetlight until a certain hour. They have a high pitch beep that tells you when it's when it's safe to cross. The window muffled most of the sound and it is otherwise a quiet road. I also realize this is hardly The facilities fault. They let us borrow an umbrella when it was raining and kept our bags safe until our train was ready to leave (after check out). I will stay there again on my next trip to Porto.
