The hotel is central and well served by buses and metro. However....room 506 was : noisy (paper thin window), had door to its ensuite that creaked terribly loud ( and so it would wake up your partner at night) had some kind of disgusting stain on the wall at the height of one of the two beds, had entrance door not shaped properly and so light and draft would come through the gaps. The Hotel is therefore good for only a one or two nights stay. Incidentally...their request for cash settlement when we checked out , due to their card payment system not working, sounded too much of a coincidence to me...

I stayed in a single room. Was okay for the price, but still a few things not to be surprised of : very little room, the door is locked with a single very small lock (security=0) and you can see partly through it into the floor. Bathroom was smelly and not very clean. You can sometimes hear your neighbor as if they were in the same room. Well, enjoy the city and some "cafe con cherinho" and you'll sleep well anyway and forget about these details ;)

It was nice and pleasant trip. Location of the hotel is great. The only problem in the hotel was the noise from the street. Hotel is being reconstructed so hopefully it will get better. Room in the highest floor was nicely reconstructed and quite. Staff was helpful and nice. They provide good service for the money they ask for it.

Excellent location, and great price. The cleanliness and quietness of rooms were not perfect since they are renovating the hotel, but once they finish it will be a perfect choice for an economic stay.

Centrally located so we knew it would be noisy. Lovely period building and furniture. Television unable to get Portuguese news channel, sport and Arabic current affairs were only options. Basic continental breakfast included in price.

A four night stay in Porto to relax. Was travelling alone , so booked single room. Room very small , not larger than a wide corridor. In order to get to the windows , had to romove bed side table. Not very much space to place your suitcase..I would suggest therefore that , even as a single , you book a double room , which does not make very much of a difference in price When booking this property , one has to take into account that the building is from apprx , 1920 , so it will present creaky floors etc. I , however , appreciate old building with style , so that did not worry me. Breakfast is simple , but adequate. Hotel surroundings are great.Metro, bustours are all near your front door. The restaurant downstairs is very nice and elegant..The restaurant terrace is a great place to enjoy a meal or a drink. During my stay ,enjoyed the show of a wonderful Fado singer in mentioned restaurant. No cover charges etc...excellent.Staff were nice.Overall a very pleasant stay in Porto

The reception staff were both friendly and efficient. The room I stayed was very quiet and of adequate size. The public areas were excellent, a little shabby but this was the charm of such an old building in centre of porto

We spent three nights in Porto. The location was super. Employees spoke a perfect english. Our room was a little too small and noisy, but our overall rate is 7 (good).

The only problem was that the small single room I had booked had a strong smell of sewage backing up through the bathroom plumbing. They were able to change me to a comparable room, but the smell was still present though not as strong. the second they changed me to a larger double room which was fine.

Amazing staff who were very kind and friendly. They recommended the restaurant below where the food was delicious and the service again amazing. People are very kind in Porto. The fado singer at the restaurant had a soulful voice. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here.

It was a great hotel for the price. Close to a metro and to El Corte Ingles (Shopping center). The people at the hotel spoke English very well and had all the necessary maps and advice you would need to visit Lisbon. I would definitely stay there again.

The location of this hotel is great - it overlooks the main square and is 10 mins walk to the river - for dinner etc. The rooms are a little dated and bathroom moreso, but clean enough and sufficient for an economical short stay. The breakfast was ok - bread and strange croissants, fruit and better juices would be a welcome additions. Would recommend this to those on a budget wanting a central location in Porto.

The location was excellent - right on the main square! The room was a little noisy at night because of this, although there were large heavy shutters that could be used to quiet most of the noise. The room was great for the price. The restaurant they recommend right downstairs was really bad, though! Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay.

When we check in and saw our room we were very happy. The bed was very close to ground but was quaint. Well, the bed was for little tiny people and we are both over 5'8". The noise outside was unbearable. Really really bad!!!

Basic but adequate breakfast, room opposite reception so extremely noisy as bell rang constantly after midnight if people needed to be let in by reception. Fantastic location and next to very good cafe/restaurant. Good value for money.

Pay attention because if you wash your cloths and hang out them in your room, chamber-maids will come in without saying a word, send washing to the laundry and return them the day after. Even if in the signed contract there is no trace, when you check out, receptionists will fine the room half price.

The hotel is in a good central location 15mins to the river and 5 mins to the train station. The rooms at the front of the building are very very noisy with constant road traffic and building work. All the pavements are being dug up but it will look great when finished. The rooms are old fasioned and dated the beds are hard but the room was clean. Good value for the location. The staff where very helpfull and we enjoyed a tango show in there restaurant downstairs. Porto is a fantastic place for a weekend break. Visit the port wine houses and take the tourist bus out to Foz on the coast.

When the major road works outside are completed, within this price range there can be no better Hotel to stay in to explore the great city of Porto. This can be done all by excellent public transport and on foot, as the Hotel's location is so Central.

The service was great - our flight home was cancelled so we had to return to the accomodation. The staff member on duty bent over backwards to find us another room for the extra two nights. The only real negatives are temporary - the extensive building work going on in the street outside! The traffic noise at the front is quite loud but bearable...

An excellent hotel in an excellent location - thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hotel is right beside new Metro line (station Aliados) and close to central bus routes. Our room was right on the front, so some traffic noise, but more than compensated for by view and superb location.

Although we were probobly allocated the noisiest room in the hotel at a cross road of two main roads considering the price we paid and the quality of the breakfast we had a bargain. The location is adjacent to buses/trains/metro making it an easy point from which to explore the surrounding area. I would recommend anybody to stay there but request a quieter room.
