Inn Villa Julia - Pompei

Big problem to locate the Villa Julia. Pompei is like a war zone, roads almost impassible and narrow, no street signs anywhere. At the Pompei ruin site, asked a local and he moaned at the location of V. Julia. I had to hire a man to show me the place and I never would have found it on my own. Arrived at 3 pm and found you can't check in until 4 pm. Host would not answer cell or land line either. Very poor at welcoming. Once there it's fine, quiet, safe (important in the Naples area) and the AC works. Oh, they charge .50 for cheap machine coffee, another disappointment. It's a deal but there's a price to pay.

The owner was very friendly and showed us around the villa. He also ordered pizza and drinks for us

We had a nice stay in Villa Julia, there is a pizzeria recommended by the hotel manager that it nearby (we walked there) and very good. Also, they offer us the possibility to park in the Zeus parking near Pompei for 5 euros the whole day to visit Pompei, that was nice.

Very welcoming staff, excellent service, good rooms & very pleasant gardens. A very good & inexpensive Ristorante/Pizzaria nearby ( La Vasca ). Don't drive anywhere...get the train, very close to all the important sites & the chaotic but beautiful city of Naples.

My grandfather (age 87), daughter (age 8), and I (age 37) visited Italy in the beginning of May 2010 before heading to Sicily to visit family. We had 2 rooms upstairs for 3 nights. The rooms were spacious and immaculate. We did not hear other guests upstairs other than when they were in the hallway. We had an excellent stay at Villa Julia and will return if we find ourselves in the area again. The price was so worth the location, hospitality, and accommodations. The owner/manager did not speak English, but my grandfather spoke Italian with him so they got along well communicating. Rafael, the other gentleman that works there, spoke English. Rafael had breakfast waiting for us very early in the morning before our departure and even provided an evening snack for my daughter when she was hungry (free of charge). We were given excellent advice on where to park for exploring Pompei ruins, using the train to visit Sorrento and Capri, what company to use to tour Mt Vesuvius, and directions on driving to Naples airport. The only problem we had was locating Villa Julia initially, but we asked a local and he personally guided us (we followed him on his motorcycle)to the hotel. The train was an excellent way to get to/from Sorrento. Used it 2 different days (one for exploring Sorrento, the other for a day in Capri). We met a guide named Guiseppe near the ticket area for the ferry tickets. We paid him if I recall correctly around 40 euro for a bus ride from ferry dock to Anacapri and back, entrance to Blue Grotto, short walking tour of Capri, and use of fanicula back down to ferry dock. The Villa Julia has a very welcoming staff and is a beautiful, quaint bed and breakfast located a 5 minute drive from Pompei ruins/train station/Mt Vesuvius touring company. I highly recommend Villa Julia!!!

Capri is worth a visit though being a very expensive trip, traffic scared us and we didn't dare to visit Naples archeology national museum. a few mistaken road signs as well. Almafi coast takes time and is not deserving half a day if you already know Corsica or South of France CLIFFS. The rooms are not soundproof, you may be disturbed by snoring next door. OVERALL, the villa is great.

The accommodations there are just excellent : spacious, clean, quiet, safe and beautiful. Villa Julia is located between Vesuvio and the down town of Pompei, so that you have meantime a beautiful landscape surrounded by olive-trees and the possibility to go on foot to the Scavi of Pompei (<2km away, 20-30min trip). Last but not least, the owner is very friendly and welcoming, ready to answer any question in order to facilitate your stay. I strongly recommend the place.
