Value for money. Close to the train station. It was difficult to locate as it looks like a row of shops/fruit market. Lots of stairs to climb. Good breakfast...by Italian standards. Enjoyed the home made jam & marmalade.

I arrived after 8pm. The owner was not there as he could not get hold of me to ask for my ETA. I got my keys from one of his friends staying at the B&B. The area is rough. Having lived in Naples before, for a number of years, I did not let that put me off. Common sense Always helps though... The B&B is stunnig. The room was spacious, clean and well decorated. It was on the front of the building but I could hardly hear any noise. The bathroon had a nice shower and clean towels. Breakfast was adequate. Ther owner allowed me to leave my heavy suitcase for a whole day. He also gave me a spare set of keys, so that I could have access to my suitcase, toilets and wifi, on departure day. I visit Napples often and will definitely be staying here again.

We stayed in the B&B on a trip to Pompeii. The B&B was nice located near the train station & port(read as a disadvantaged area) & the best part of our visit to Naples was the extremely lovely & welcoming member of staff that served breakfast & the pizza served down the road. Those interested in Pompeii; I would strongly advise a trip to Herculaneum (station where you get the Volcano bus)site where there is nore detail such as the buildings gutters etc.

located within an old building, you will not know the dirty gate is the main entrance of the hotel. good location, just close to the Napoli Centrale train station, good rooms, good service. But really really BEWARE about the motorbike in the night, NAPOLI is NAPOLI, even it has a good night view, but it is not worth for you to be got robbed for it.

While the area seems a bit dodgy and is definitely dirty the B&B is excellent value for money. A short walk from the central station and even closer to the line that takes you to Pompeii and the Amalie coast. Staff were welcoming and friendly and also very helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. It is walking distance to everything in the historical center and closeto a stop for the hop on hop off bus. Definitely a great place to stay

Despite the appearance of the surrounding neighbourhood(filthy dirty), this place is really quite clean, comfortable and good value. The bonus is the fastest WiFi I have found in all of Italy included in the price with a nice breakfast. Naples is disgustingly filthy in general but don't be put off. Well located within 10 minutes walk to the main areas you want to visit in the old town.

This is the place to be in Napoli for budget travellers and (small) families. Very cheap, clean, good location (near to central station, circumvesuvia and city centre) and great hospitality. Breakfast could be better if they'd add a little cheese, so I bought my own which I could store in the fridge. Italians just eat a lot of sugar and they haven't heard of wholemeal bread. This B&B can compete with any hotel I've been and I really can't think of any cons. If ever I return to Napoli, I will most certainly go to Bonapace again. To Sanju: It was great meeting you! Thanks for the nice conversations and your warm hospitality in the morning. To travellers: leave this man a nice tip! He deserves it and lost his house in Shri Lanka in the Tsunami of 2004. Also be sure you get picked up from airport or train station, since that is cheap and the place / door bell is a little hard to find. Otherwise keep their phone number at hand, so you can call.

The location between the two main train stations (Central station and Circumvesuviana station for Pompeii, Sorrento, etc.) is strategic and very convenient, but this part of the city is not really pleasant by itself. Though it should not prevent you from staying in Bonapace BnB, since it is faultless in welcoming, facilities and convenience. After a 3-night stay, I can say that the area actually is not frightening, and can frankly recommend this nice and cosy place.

The hotel is very close to the station, harbour, and ancient city, it is also very quiet. Apart from the excellent coffee the breakfast is very poor ; no fruit, no yoghurt, no cheese. All the work is done by an Sri Lanka housekeeper who is very kind and helpfull. We hardly saw the owners who were especially there to receive the money at the first day.

Hotel Bonapace is a diamond. Wonderful welcome and loads of information from Giuseppe and Sanju. They really know how to take care of their guests. Typical Italian breakfast, nice large, quiet rooms. Don't let the look of the area put you off and do take their restaurant recommendations. The most amazing pizza is right on their doorstep! DO NOT TAKE A TAXI to this property--they WILL rip you off (spoken from experience). Walk out of Napoli Centrale and head down the long avenue that is in front of you toward the neon KIMBO sign until you get the statue of Garibaldi. Turn left. After about 100 metres you will see a church on your left and at the corner is Tizzy's Cafe. The entrance is just to the left. Hard to spot the first time, but once you know, you'll know.

This place is a gem, whilst the weather in Naples was not welcoming, the owners and staff were excellent, sanjew was wonderful, We could not fault him he was a wealth of information and very friendly, the breakfast was great and the coffee was great, I would recommend this place to everyone, we were catching a late ferry to sicily and were told that it would be ok to stay at the B&B until our ferry went, which was at about 7pm and once again it was raining so it was a relief not to have to find somewhere to sit with our luggage after the usual check out time of 10am, If we ever go back to Naples I would definately stay at the Bonapace Porta Nolana

Only a single night stay "in transit" from Praiana (Amalfi Coast) to catch flight next day. VERY convenient for the Circumvesuviana train terminus (from Sorrento). A pleasant haven amongst the "chaos" of Naples! Very welcoming and helpful staff. Organised taxi efficiently for our journey to Airport. No difficulty in finding the place - Once you've found Tizzy's cafe you're almost there. Bell for the B&B is on the two row of buttons on right hand side of the door. Back row - about halfway up! (There's a lot of buttons!). Door to the B&B is immediately on right when you go through gate, then up to Piano (floor) 2! Courtyard area (which you do not go into) was pretty tidy by Naples standards when we were there. Our room had a view of Vesuvius sitting grumpily under a bank of cloud ! (First rain in 8 days).

Our stay for just 3 nights at Bonapace was very nice, quiet and relaxing. It is located close to several bus stations at Piazza Garibalidi and also very close to main central train station for furher trips to Pompeji (40min), Sorrento and/or Amalfi Coast. Central Naples with plenty of excellent Pizzarias, relaxing Café's and nice Bar's is just a few minutes away from Porta Nolana. But you need a good street map to find your way's !!! Arriving at night it was a bit difficult to find the right way to Bonapace easily. But with help from a very friendly neapolitan street cleaner, a prostitute and a helpful Vespa driver we arrived at our B&B place safe finally. Nevertheless you need to be carefull and watch your stuff when walking around the area at night. Keep your money and jewelery in safe places close to you. We have not had any problems or negative experiences with anybody in Naples. It was just the other way around. Everybody we met was very friendly and helpful. In summary: "Bonapace and Naples are places worth to stay more than just 3 nights !". We enjoyed it very much and had a great time ! .... Salve, G&P from Germany

I would not recommend this hotel unless you are desperate to stay near the train station in Naples. I am a female, and if I had been alone, I would have turned around, forfeited my advance payment, and found a hotel to stay in. The area is rough, even for Naples, but is a 5 minute walk from Naples Centrale. There is the "Angels and Demons" sex shop on the corner, and when the host recommended a nearby trattoria, he warned us to look out for pickpockets. But by far the worst part is that there is no elevator and it is on the 4th floor - 9 landings of 6-8 steps each. I would not have been able to get my luggage up the steps alone, and no help was offered. If you survive the climb, the rooms themselves and breakfast were okay - but there is no laundry room as noted on the hotel amenities. There is a washer, which you have to talk them into letting you use - for 5 euros a load. The internet works only in the common areas.

The problem with Bonapace is that it is difficult to find! You follow the directions to Corso Garribaldi, take your bearings from Porta Nolana, turn into Via San Cosmo Fuori Porta Nolana but despite having the location right there is no sign of the Hotel. So you ask a nearby shopkeeper and he directs you towards double steel gates on the opposite side of the street, you go across and enter to find yourself in a dirty, dingy yard and still no hotel. You look all round and nothing. At the entranceway there are a pair of steel doors leading into a building but they are locked and there is no bell. Meanwhile a migrant worker comes from a nearby hostel(also in the yard) and he responds to your query by beckoning you back out into the street and indicating an array of doorbell buttons on a wall and after a little research you discover one of them belongs to Bonepace! Eureka!! So you ring the bell and a friendly voice answers and you introduce yourself then you hear the magic sound of the electronic gate release and you know you're there. As you go through the gates, a friendly porter comes down the stairs and helps you climb the stairs to the second floor which feels like the fourth floor but you get there and you sign the registration and pay your bill in advance then you are shown to your room after a short demonstration of the purpose of the various keys now in your possession and a request as to what time you would like your free breakfast. You peruse the room and although you can find areas to quibble about you decide its level of cleanliness probably matches its cost...cheap. Then after a shower you decide to grab a bite to eat and you wander out into the dark dodgy looking streets searching for some where to eat and you wander a bit further in the direction of Piazza Garabaldi when you come across a family run Trattatoria and you decide to go in and you get amazingly tasteful traditional Napoli food for unbelievable prices, ltr. local rosso €4. Visit Napoli!

Bonapace Inn Hotel Porta Nolan is a good option if you need to stay in Naples. Location is good for a visit to Pompei (5 minutes for a slow walk down to the Circumvesuviana station), 10 minutes slow walk to the STAZIONE CENTRALE (called and GARIBALDI if you arrive from Rome or another italian region). 15-30 minutes from the airport by taxi (I recommend to speak to the hotel to order a taxi and the pay not exceed 20 euros / Alibus alternatively if you dont have too much luggage- for 3 euros). 10-15 minutes from the port terminal (Marina PORT) for cruise ships (taxi will take about 10 euros, but surely can use Alibus for 3 euros per ticket). Bonapace is located after to the bar "Tizzy" at house n° 4 to a grey gate whit many other apartaments so don’t be surprised if you don’t see a usualy hotel sign/ emblem. Ring to Bonapace “B. & B. “Porta Nolana” and someone will come to join you. Unfortunately you have to climb too many stairs with luggage, but the ladies are assisted by the staff. The outside of the building and the stairs looks fairly inappropriate. The neighborhood including courtyard are disgusting but the hospitality, clean and simple decoration of the hotel (or b&b) will make you forget the desolate landscape. The area is full of shady people but it seems that security is good. We are ok! Breakfast is full of sweet food so if you have diabetes be sure to find another alternative. Perhaps the future owners will think and salty stuff :-) / fruits / vegetables! All staff speak English and their employees is very industrious, and made it enjoyable at all .... By the way a lot of skim milk was in the cappuccino and is was so good. Do not miss the sweetness of orange! The bathroom is large (at least in the triple that we stay), the water flows well and has pressure. In the room and in the hallway smells good. Linen is pleasant to the touch and the decoration of the room is soft and warm. TV works slow but steady fall broken if visiting Pompei

From other information we knew already that it would be a little bit hard to find, but even with some infomation it took as some time to find the place (just a sign on the bell table). But arriving we had a real warm and friendly welcome, as also the service was throughout our stay. Location is good from aspects: near railway station and not far away from old town. But surrounding is not really inviting, we preferred to return not too late in the evenings.

Directions provided from train station were not clear enough and we ended up getting there the long way. The entrance to the building is via the back street which is not particularly attractive but the interior of Bonapace Porta Nolana is clean, bright and comfortable. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, who also gave us information on places to see and eat. The walls are a bit thin where the walls are sealed by false doors, which meant we were able to hear the occupants in the next room...and they probably heard us.

We love Pompei, Amalfi Coast and most important to me, the Pizzeria Da Donato (really delicious and of reasonable price). The city is a bit chaotic, which is not the problem of this B&B, but please take care of your belongings when you walk around. The hosts are very nice, and sent us careful directions to their place in advance - be sure to read them - Naples is not easy to navigate without help. Despite all kinds of dire warnings, we loved Naples, and the area around the train station is fine unless you come from Beverly Hills. The place is super convenient to the Circumvesuviana line. Had an excellent stay at this very friendly B&B. Donnatella really looked after us, giving us directions and tips. Our room was a haven away from the crazy city of Naples and was clean and comfortable. Breakfast of tea/ coffee with bread and jam was basic, but all that we needed to start the day. Entry into the accommodation could be off putting, but once inside everything was fine. The location is within 10 minutes of the main train station and just around the corner to the station to take you to Pompeii. Excellent value for money. Bonapace is basic, clean (despite some dustballs under the bed) with a more than adequate breakfast included and served at a communal table. Our quad room was smaller than the photos indicated and one of the single beds was quite uncomfortable but for a short stay it couldn't be bettered in this price range. No where in this area is going to be quiet but the noise from the road was minimised as much as possible through effective double glazing and thick curtains. We all slept well. As other reviewers have recommended - eat at Da Donato, just a few metres away. Pizzas are excellent, pasta adequate, service cheerful.

Bonapace Porta Nolana B&B was truly an oasis. Although we weren't too impressed with Naples itself (as dirty as all the reports said and I felt surrounded by shady-looking characters the whole time), this B&B was exceptional. The owner and staff were exceptional and I felt sorry for them because the garbage situation in Naples (as of June 2008) has clearly cost them a lot of tourism business. The room (triple) was very clean, nicely decorated, and had great air conditioning. Breakfast was very good with typical Italian choices (bread, jam, cheese, etc). The owner, Arrigo, was even nice enough to let us leave our luggage while we spent the day in Pompeii and picked it up on our way out of town. Although I can't recommend Naples, if you go there I can't imagine a better place to stay than Bonapace Porta Nolana. Also, the restaurant a few doors down (Dante's?) was the best food we ate in all of Italy. Pompeii was also excellent. Be careful of pickpockets and tourist scams. I had read the warnings which prevented a 3-person con team from robbing me on a crowded bus (man on crutches pretending to offer directions, young mother, and small boy with arms apparently reaching up for mommy but actually reaching up under my shirt in search of my money.)

Bonapace Porto Nolana was a good choice for us (parents with 2 teenage girls). We had a quad room with a balcony, and noise-proof glass doors. Arreto was the perfect host. He was very accommodating and thorough in all information he gave you. He tries very hard to make your Napoli experience a positive one, even though Naples is not the nicest part of Italy! This is why I gave 'hotel surroundings' a 6 rating. Templetons, San Jose, California

Don't judge a book by its cover. Don't let the area bother you. We were needlessly concerned for the neighborhood. Pulling up in a taxi (which was a rip off), I was sure he had the wrong address. There is a doorbell on the right wall in front of the gate. Looked like a driveway to me. Working class neighborhood, but our room was wonderful, and neighborood people very friendly. From our small balcony, we smelled the heavy garlic of home cooking, and listed to the revelers during the Italy win of the World Cup. What an experience. With the window closed, it was very quiet. I'd stay again in a heartbeat. Great value for a good price

My husband and I were in Naples for one night. I must say that Bonapace Porta Nolana is the nicest experience we had in Naples. Naples is not exacly the nicest city, and a little scary. Dont be afraid when you see the outside of the building, it is not very welcoming, but dont let that deter you, the B&B could not be nicer. As well the owner is extremely nice, he speaks fluent english and he was eager to help us out with any questions we had. Also he helped us find a place to buy luggage, since my zipper had broken off of mine. The price is more than fair. If we ever retun to Naples we would defenately go back.

Overall we had a very good stay at B&B Bonapace Porta Nolana. Arrigo and his employee, SanJee (???) were both very warm and welcoming. They made our stay as good as it was. When we missed our flight to Naples and didn't arrive until late the following morning, breakfast was kept waiting for us and coffee was fresh. The property is close to the train stations (a big priority for us) and we did not hear street noise at night. We heard neighbors a little when they came in, but nothing bad. We were in a quad room and it was very spacious. The only thing that bothered us a little was the mold in the shower. For the price, I felt that the quality and location were great. I would stay here again. Thank you Arrigo and SanJee!

I would recommend this B&B to people visting Naples. It is very close to the train station and other important means of transportation. It can be a little difficult to find however. The area outside of the B&B is a little intimidating. There were alot of people selling items on the street that looked like they could have been stolen from people's luggage. The area is also quite dirty with trash. We did not venture out at night as we did not feel comfortable. It is important that I mention that nothing bad happened to us and we had no real troubles in the city. We just did not like Naples. It was nice to leave the city for the day and head to Capri or Pompeii. The outside of the B&B is not nice at all. However, once you get past the security gates and walk up all the many stairs with your luggage (no lift unfortunately), the B&B itself is very nice. The owner and staff were very friendly and spoke English well. It was the biggest room my wife and I had on our Italy stay. It was also the nicest room with the best breakfast and overall the best value on our trip. The room was clean, TV worked well and had an English channel which was nice. Air conditioning worked well. There was a balcony so that you could look down on the all the craziness in the streets below and be thankful you were safe in your room. I would not want to walk around at night and thankfully we did not have to. Other than the poor surroundings, the next biggest problem is that the rooms were loud and it was very easy to hear what the guests in the next room were saying and doing. There are stores and pizza places nearby which is nice. Not much variety though. Thanks for the pleasant stay. We likely will not ever visit Naples again, however if we did I would stay here again.

We had a 3 days trip in Naples. The owner, Arrigo is a very kind man. He gaves us useful tips how we could see the most interesting sighteeings in Naples and surrounding area. His advices were also right on where to eat in the city. The hotel is close to any kind of public transport vehicle. If you want a relaxed and enjoyable journey in Naples choose this B&B hotel. Arrigo and ... I think his name is Sanjay, were very helpful. I felt hotel was one of the more beautifully decorated ones we stayed in, though we didn't stay anywhere for over 100 euro. The room quietness got a 6 because the walls were very thin. The surrounding got a 4 because that side of Naples is filthy.

We were more than happy with Bonapace Porta Nolana - we had a very friendly welcome, excellent instructions for our whirlwind tour of Naples and some very thoughtful security advice. Arrigo also gave us a recommendation for dinner which was excellent (and cheap). Our room was very comfortable and quiet, and had enough space for us and all our stuff. The bed was really comfortable and the sheets were fantastic - the best in Italy!! We had no difficulty finding the hotel, it was an easy walk from the station; although the entrance was described as not being the best, I really didn't find it that bad at all. We had to leave early in the morning and asked if we could have breakfast earlier than normal. Not only was this not a problem, but it was ready even earlier than expected and included freshly baked croissants, fresh rolls, several different jams and spreads, cereal and delicious cappuccini - it was fantastic and we really appreciated the effort. I thoroughly recommend Bonapace Porta Nolana and will definitely stay there again when next in Naples. Thanks Arrigo!!

What a fantastic place. The room was enchanting, way beyond what you should expect at a price like this. Excellent staff, Arrigo (the owner) and a young man (whose name I can't recall) were both extremely friendly and helpful. Both spoke very good english as well. Thank you very much, we'll be back!

We enjoyed very much our stay at Bonapace Porta Nolana (only 1 night) The service was excellent and very friendly. The only (minor)drawback was that it was a little difficult to find the BB (too small sign) and that the entrance from the street was a little untidy.

One of our best locations in Italy! Arrigo provided a warm and very useful greeting- not only the map of Napoli but also indications about what and how to visit places, and especially how to get there. Location is very convenient, and despite what others have said IT IS NOT SO DIFFICULT to climb those stairs- not if you did it in Italian campanillas (and paid for this as well...). Yes, the surrounding area is not great, but you are near the railway station to visit Pompei, and we visited all the historic center in one (long...) afternoon. One advice: do not accept the room near the breakfast-space- it gets quite noisy early in the morning...

The information about this B@B clearly stated that the exterior and neighborhood were poorly kept, and this was more than true. However, the B@B itself was everything it promised--clean, quiet and comfortable. It was a good stopping point for our trip to Pompeii.

Feels like beeing at home this cosy place. As the owner are so kind and helpful, the rooms are clean and quiet and the breakfast is delicious and plentiful, you would like to stay there longer than intended. The first impression of the surrounding might be disincentive for anxious people, but for getting to know Napoli and for feeling the spirit of the town it is really a perfect starting point. Go there - you will love it!!!

This place was perfect for what we paid for it.. room was nice, breakfast was great.. close to teh train station.. perfect! only thing is that from teh outside, we were scared to go upstairs! The whole area around the train station is just very dirty, including the front door and bottom floor of this place. But once you get up and inside the B&B, it is well worth the stay!

The B&B is very near the mainline, metro & Circumvesuviana railway stations and therefore perfectly positioned for visiting Pompeii, Herculaneum, anywhere in or near Naples. Arrigo will email excellent directions for finding the B&B(it is not difficult) We did not find the area intimidating, though quite a culture shock to us as we live in a rural area. We came away feeling we had had a real taste of Naples. We had one of the rooms with kitchenette, everything worked well, and the room was light, clean and comfortable. Good value and highly recommended

From the moment Arrigo came to meet us at the station we knew we were in good hands. The Bonapace is very conveneient for the main station and the Circumvesuviana railway but unfortunately these are in a literally rat-infested part of Napoli. But once you are through the two gates you enter a clean, comfortable and friendly environment. The room was spotless and utterly quiet ( for this you want the inner courtyard rooms) and breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended - especially if like us Napoli is a pitstop on the way to other places.

I stayed at this B&B with two other ladies in a triple room for 4 nights. The owner (Arrigo)is very friendly, funny and helpful. You can feel at home and everything in the B&B is so neat and tidy, and more importantly warm. Really value for money. You can get more when you ask for some good tips of tour, food at good prices and internet centre nearby. The breakfast is exceeding our expectation and of good quality. We will definitly be glad to recommend Bonapace Porta Nolana to our friends visiting Naples. For sure if we have another chance to visit Naples, Bonapace Porta Nolana is our first pick.

This is the best bed and breakfast that I have stayed at in all of Europe. I have traveled to many places and have yet to find a place so clean with friendly staff at such a fantastic price. I will definately stay here again when I return to Naples. The area that it is located in is a little decieving because it is so run down but the place is beautiful. All of Naples is run down except for the residential areas. It is in a very centralized location and just minutes from walking to almost everything that you need. The main station is located just 5 minutes walking the station that takes you to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvio is one minute and the buses are everywhere. I highly recommend any one going to Naples stay at Bonapace porta Nolana. We had a great time there. The Staff is wonderful! The owner is such a great guy we really enjoyed his company at breakfast. Thanks for the wonderful stay in Naples!!

Staff was very helpful, owner very congenial. Directions were accurate but could have been a little clearer. Young woman recptionist from Russia was extremely helpful and pleasant. Owner was very cordial. I am 80 years old and 60 to 70 steps were not easy and should be mentioned. Directions from station should be clarified by reference to stated hotel. Mention doorbell at groundfloor gate. Convience to station was a plus.
