Inn Casa Museo Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga - Mantua

Via Frattini 7 - Mantua

Price starting from 117 .00

Are you daydreaming of one night like the Gonzaga? Staying in the fabulous Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga, an Italian historical residence of the 17th century is no longer a dream.

Since April 2011, some prestigious halls of the main floor of the Museum Gallery of Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga, such as the Stanza del Trionfo del Tempo sulla Fama, the Stanza degli Stemmi, and the Taverna Storica (where the Stanza Segreta dei Carbonari is located), are available for a memorable night or a weekend stay.

The guesthouse is located in the Mantua historical city center and it is easily accessible from the motorway exit Mantova Nord (1.8 miles/3 kilometers) and from the Airport Catullo in Verona (18.6 miles/30 kilometers). The apartment on the basement floor ensures its guests comfort, relaxation, and peace, all enriched by the scent of history coming from the Secret Room of the Carbonari, a place of plotting insurrection during the Risorgimento years (Italian Unification).

The rooms are furnished in a rustic style, with maximum attention to details. Guests can take advantage of the small roof garden, free Wi-Fi Internet access throughout the entire property, free bicycle rental on site, and satellite television. Other amenities include climate control and an elevator.

Among the area attractions, just minutes away on foot, are the Palazzo Te, Mantua Cathedral, and Stadio Danilo Martelli.

An unforgettable experience in the charming historic residence of Valenti-Gonzaga, a few steps from the center of the beautiful city of Mantua. Words cannot explain the pleasure about living in a perfectly restored historic home, thanks to the careful and patient passion of Professor Linardi who, for more than twenty years, has dedicated himself to the research and to the important recovery of the lost history of the building and its owners. A big thank you to the fascinating Margaux and enterprising Massimo, the two young and smart managers of the palace. With their greedy pastry delicacies and particular descriptions of the works and frescoes in the rooms of the building, they have helped us to make our holiday unique and unforgettable in the history of the city of Mantua. The prices are absolutely ridiculous for the incredible location and the excellent treatment that has been observed by all the staff of the palace. Difficult to suggest you on which room, or better apartment, choose among the available ones. Rely on Massimo: I'm sure you will have no words about the surprising place. Breakfast in the palace is a must: you will enjoy the magnificent works of exquisite confectionery of Miss Margaux in the magnificent ambient of the Palazzo Valenti-Gonzaga. We will come back soon for another wonderful break in the history of Italy.

Quite unique, we stayed in the apartment downstairs, barrelled vaults, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and even a natural fountain in the room. The hosts are very proud of their palazzo and will show you around and tell you all about it. The breakfast was extra, but one of the daughters is a baker and provides cakes and breads, we really could not do it justice. Staying here is unlike anything else, just enjoy!

This is no ordinary "hotel"! A limited number of rooms with completely up-to-date facilities in a renovated Renaissance palace, covered with frescos and filled with statuary--a stay here is a stay in a museum replete with history. The underground "taverna" is as atmospheric as one could ask for--all brick with rounded vault ceilings in the corridor and two of the rooms. There are four singles, two doubles, two baths and a small kitchen and dining area in this vault. The doubles are quite large and one was the scene of an historic event in the 19th-century battle for Italian reunification and freedom from Habsburgh dominance. The proprietor has restored this palace with passion and love, and loves to explain it all to guests. My stay was truly a unique experience, enhanced by the pastry artworks at breakfast provided by the proprieter's daughter.

We deem ourselves truly lucky for having found such a wonderful accomodation. It is difficult for us to explain the emotion of being permitted to enter a place so imbued with art and history: you just can't be prepared for what awaits you, as you decide for Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga. Professor Rocco Linardi, the owner and "inspirer" of the project (I won't call it in any other way), helped us in anything we needed for our stay, from the restaurant for our dinner to the advice for the major sights in Mantua. Moreover, he shared with us his passion for art and culture, by making us visit the splendid palace and telling us his efforts for bringing it back to life. It is inevitable to remain fascinated by such a love for a city and for its artistical gems , and this contributed to make our stay unforgettable. You would think that for such a cheap price and with so delightful a welcoming you would at least find a tiny room. Instead the room (which was much more an apartment than a room) was amazingly large - 220 m² - and confortamble, and beautiful indeed! We spent the night in the 16th century foundations of the palace, in an elegant domed room. Have to say that the apartment was also modernly equipped - free WiFi, Tv, Air conditioning, beautiful bathrooms were only part of the whole. As said, words are not enough for describing the Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga: you'll have to go there, to find out yourselves!

Our 2-night stay in the 'Taverna Storica' at the Palazzo Valentin Gonzaga was one of the highlights of our Italian holiday. The apartment was spectacular, comfortable and well-appointed, and full of character and historical interest. Our host, Prof. Linardi, ably assisted by his charming wife, was justly proud of and enthusiastic about the magnificent restoration of the Palazzo that he had masterminded, pointing out all the many interesting artistic features of the apartment and the Piano Nobile, and we greatly enjoyed our breakfasts in the splendid Gallery (and the delicious confections prepared by his daughter). We felt privileged to stay there, and will certainly stay there again on our next visit to Mantua. It was a truly memorable experience.

We arrived after the earthquake in Mantua and it was difficult to communicate with our host because no-one in the hotel speaks any English although we speak a little Italian. It appeared that the room we had booked was unavailable because of the earthquake and we were put into the basement apartment. The double bedroom was in a vault with no natural light and we could not sleep there but as we had the whole apartment we were able to sleep in the 2 single rooms which were comfortable with natural light. The bathroom was excellent and we had a kitchen and a free bottle of Prosecco. The hotel is in a very good location although breakfast is not provided. Our host was keen to maintain our privacy and was obviously under some strain because of the earthquake. He kindly gave us a free tour of his magnificent gallery.
