Helpful staff. Too cramped dining room, breakfast very basic. Single room pretty small but I can understand this is London and I didn't mind that Pleasantly quiet. Would have been nice to have a tea/coffee tray in the room - but staff were very willing to make me a tray up. Bed comfortable & room clean Location excellent. Would stay again as it fitted my needs quite adequately. Nothing was "awful!"

Hotel is in a fantastic location, just 2 minutes from Paddington. The surrounding area is full of nice restaurants and pubs. Micky's fish and chip shop is a must visit and is just around the corner. The hotel itself is OK, we stayed in Room 111 which is at the back and very quiet. A little tatty in places but overall not bad. The safe in the room would not open when we got back at about 11:30pm, I went to reception to mention it and he said he would be right up. I went back down after midnight when he hadn't arrived and he was fast asleep!!! Breakfast isn't great, choice of 3 cereals, toast, a boiled egg and rubbery ham and cheese. The tea and coffee is also poured for you, so don't expect a second cup to be that forthcoming. The breakfast room is also tiny, they've squeezed about 25 seats in and the only way it work is if everyone in the room stands and sits at exactly the sames time. There is also meant to be a bar, which is more of a cupboard in the corner of the reception area, we never saw it open and it didn't appear that it had been for some time. Don't get me wrong, for what we paid (£151) for 2 nights B&B in the location it is, it was a bargain. The street itself has about 20 hotels along it all looking identical, so next time I think I'll check out some of the others first because the location is perfect.

We arrived at the hotel in the late hours of the evening. I would say everything was above average apart from the greeting we received at the reception desk. When we booked the hotel (by phone) we were guaranteed parking which was the reason we booked it, when we arrived the man grumpily informed us that there were no parking facilities and was distinctively rude and unpleasant about it. We had to park off rude and needed to move it before 8 am the next morning where a different receptionist was a lot better to us and gave us a place to park as in the empty slots available on premises that we'd seen the previous night. Everything else was lovely apart from that incident which ruined my stay as I spent the night worrying about the car.

After reading the comments of other travelers on both this site and others, I thought it would be a good place to stay for two nights. Overall, I would say I got what I paid for. The rooms were very clean, but tiny. There was enough room for the beds (two twin beds) and not much more. The bathroom and shower just big enough to enter and turn around (very similar to a ship-board bathroom). The “full English breakfast” consisted of toast, cold cereal, hard-boiled eggs and deli meat and cheese. There was an orange-like drink substance as well. Not a very impressive breakfast. Our room faced the very busy street and it was noisy. Our TV did not work and the heat was not on when we woke in the morning. I guess this is what you get at this price point in London.

Very small room and there is no way this is 4 star. No tea and coffee making facilities would surely rule this out. The breakfast was really poor eggs, toast, processed chees or chopped pork. The cereal was stale. Once the eggs were gone they were gone.

Except the location is excellent, the hotel is extremely small, I booked 2 double room, but the room just enough for 1 person to use. The 3star rating is totally not referring to the condition of the hotel. And the price is expensive. I could get a cheaper deal or better quality hotel at the same price but too bad the hotel will charge me for any cancellation.

We were two persons, and got a triple room, so I guess it was a little more spacious than a normal double room. In fact I have only got one serious complain, and that was regarding the lack og quietness. The traffic outside was very disturbing and I had to go and buy my self earplugs. Except for this, the hotel lived up to my expectations, but due to the noisy traffic I will not stay in this hotel the next time I am in London.

I was for the first time in Nayland Hotel, alone. The worst things: room VERY small with small cupboard and no night table! Breakfast very poor. The good things: the people at the reception, the cleanliness and most of all the hotel surroundings. Very close to Paddington station in an area always full of life. Few minutes walk from Oxford Street. I would come back to Nayland Hotel after all.

Perhaps it was just the room we were assigned, but I was very dissappointed in the Nyland. Our room was so small that my wife and I had to literally move our bags so that we could walk from one place to the next within the room. And we only had a small suitcase and backpack each.... The room was just too small. The rest of the hotel was fine. A shame, but I would not stay there again unless a bigger room was available.

The good thing is cheap and close to the station, easy to go to airport by taking express train. The bad thing is the TV sound proof very poor, sounds from the street, and next door, we find that the TV sound from next room came from the electric plug on the wall. The worst - Breakfast, we don't take it on the last day. Forget the breakfast, it's still worth to take.

Nayland Hotel is in a great location, very close to Paddington station, various restaurants and pubs, Hyde Park and I noticed one of the stops of the double decker tours buses was 1 minute away from the hotel. The reception was very nice and professional and there was a tiny elevator that only fit 4 people at once but it was much better than walking up to our floor as we had been in other countries. Our room had a bathroom which was teeny tiny (you could barely turn around in there with the door closed), very clean and though the hot water didn't work the first night (there was a water main break in front of the hotel that day) it did work the next night and was just fine once we realized hot was cold and cold was hot. It was quiet as far as street noise goes but there was some sort of machinery noise going on inside the hotel (maybe the elevator?)that we got used to. The room was small and cramped and reminded me of some children's story where they lived in the attic, but we were expecting that from the pictures. There was no view since we were facing the back of the building, except for alley and the apartments across the way. It may sound like we didn't like this hotel but we chose it for the location, which was definitely the best part about it. And for the cheaper price in a city as expensive as London, I would probably stay here again since I don't intend to spend time in the hotel.

Room small + clean, but directly next to elevator, which made unusually strange noises(change of rooms was not possible), noise of loud street was the same with windows closed or open; towels that were to be changed were there as new ones the next day!!!; water took ages to get warm; tea and coffee at breakfast were about the same thing; orange juice was like yellow water; staff was not that friendly Zimmer klein + sauber; aber direkt neben Fahrstuhl, der ungewöhnlich laute Geräusche machte; Ob Fenster offen oder geschlossen war, machte von der Lautstärke her kein Unterschied (hatten Zimmer zur Straße hin); zum Wechseln auf die Erde gelegte Handtücher waren wieder am Haken!!!

Abbiamo soggiornato 4 notti in quest' albergo.

But when i came there, they gave me a 4-people family room which is large enough, but unfortunately, located in the basement, which is sometimes a bit noisy. The room is newly decorated and very clean. Given the price only 59 pound per night, it is value for money in London. Will consider to come back again.

Before i found this b&b, i read all the reviews for almost every b&b and was a bit afraid because there are lots of them that dont speak very well. at the end, you don't know what to belive. I found this one that had good reviews and as i read, I booked it, bored of looking for more. I got surprised when i arrived. Exactly the same as the pictures shown in the web page. the personnel working there were really friendly and made us feel as home. Everything in the room worked well, the toilet/shower were great. The bath and the room were a bit small, but all the b&b around europe are small so didn't spect to have a palace for myself. Rooms very clean, as the toilets and everyday we had clean sheets and towels. The room we were in, was in the front of the building, and there is a big and a bit busy road in front so we thought it was going to be quit noisy but could sleep without any problems. They serve continental breakfast with cereals, toasts with jam, a juice that im still guessing what it was, hard-boiled eggs, ham and cheese and a really not very tasty coffee. But having that is enought for me, better that going out with an empty stomach. Thanks venere and nayland hotel for a great weekend

Good quality for the price and an unbeatable location! Street is gorgeous and tube is right around the corner. Drawbacks included mediocre breakfast, no soundproofing between rooms, a front desk person who couldn't figure out that the room phone wasn't turned on, and the view from the room (a wall). Booking with Venere.com does not entail you to a free breakfast - but we ate for free anyways, the staff didn't seem to mind or care. We booked a Quad and were told upon arrival that the booking agent was to have called us to inform us that a Quad was not available. We had to split up into two rooms over three nights which didn't make much for a "family" retreat to London. Although the staff did try to put us in rooms close together, there was miscommunication about what rooms we had and we ended up moving twice. The bar selection (wine) was poor. The best I can say about this property is its proximity to Paddington Station makes it worth the stay.
